Work is done, had a difficult afternoon but it passed quite quickly. These new tablets are giving me a headache and making me slightly dizzy and drowsy. I took some paracetamol and it had caffeine in (I didn't realise until after I took them) but they actually seemed to counteract the drowsiness so I have been okay today and not overly tired like I am usually.
NSD 👏🏼🙌🏼.
I'm over half way through reading my book...I have to say it's a bit smuttier than I thought it was going to be and I'm not a massive fan of needing to read very detailed scenes of lurve making....think psychological murder/ crime mysteries are more my thing 😆. I'll finish it but I can't see me reading any more by her. I will watch the film too when it is out on the weekend. Perhaps I'll enjoy that more....
Dinner is cottage pie mix with chips and beans or mixed veg whatever I can find and be bothered to make.
Tomorrow I'm not looking forward to there's been dramas in the group I'm with and I honestly don't think I've got the energy to deal with it all day....! One member of staff went off after having a breakdown during the day ...with this class. 😬 And there was me thinking it was better than the last lot.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Working week is done.
Kept paperwork up to date..dunno why I call it that it's all online but you know what I mean.
DD is having a sleepover with friends. Bought in fizzy drinks, pizza and chips for them to cook as it's cheaper than buying from pizza shop.
DS has gone for a run with a friend..DS doesn't understand his limits and will probably try to outrun friend and I doubt friend will return..this has happened several times. DS doesn't know when he's tired, hungry, or had a long enough exercise session. Sigh. I've just told him to stretch. And shown them how. They were heading off on a ten mile run with no stretches. I despair sometimes, and he just will not listen. The other night (I don't think I told this to you all) he called me after having gone for a run and said, I think I better call you because it's dark and I didn't want you worrying.
Ah brilliant I thought he's learning.
I'll be an hour to run back maybe an hour and half.
Ummmm what? Where are you?
Not sure.
Right Whatsapp me your location.
He does, he's seven miles away down a pitch black country lane with no pavements or walkways, he's wearing all black it is across an A.road, down another A road and he's down some B road with just fields. I told him to stay put and went and got him. In my pjs.
I have to be really careful how I lecture him as he will switch off and not listen but he got a rollicking. And here we are again he shows me a route and it's across the same A road and going off to a village which is teeny with no pavements for half of it again..so nope you're not doing that..so he's got another route now. He doesn't understand or see dangers. At all. He's going to be 16 soon and I wonder if common sense will ever appear to this boy.
Being a mother is flipping hard work. I'm already absolutely to the point of exhaustion (was in bed last night at 7 something) and trying to survive, with work and housework and being a mum and not really doing a very good job of any of it at the moment. Especially when DS doesn't listen to a word I'm telling him.
Rant over, I'm going to just sit and chill for a bit. My head is thumping and I'm so tired and have about six pizzas and several rounds of chips to cook yet. It would have been quicker and easier to feed them spag bol but they wouldn't eat it no doubt 😆.
Technically a NSD as we bought pizza and chips from food budget so I'll have it. I held back on buying anything at work even though I really wanted to 😆 so taking that as my win for the day.

Dont worry too much about the pre run stretches. My running club never did them but did insist on after runs. Also you can get a chest light for running - my club insisted we all ran with them, they are about £10 on the big river company. Maybe gift him one?
I know you were probably just ranting but didn't want to leave without a suggestion as the chest lights are great - beam in front, red behind and I think do help.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Can you suggest joining a running club to him DFW? We have several young members that sound like your son and the older wiser members try to reign them in and educate them!Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

Thanks @Watty1 I'm not much of a runner. I only run when someone is chasing me, if I can be bothered 😆 but he came back with cramp before and after finding him down a country lane miles away 😳🤦🏻♀️ I was like you are NOT leaving without stretching 🤣 I will tell him to do them definitely afterwards if not before then. Also I saw someone on the way home with the lights on their chest, I will go get him some.
@Bargainhunter30 will they let youngsters join? He's not 16 till summer hols. We actually have a running club that runs past our house...I will see if I can find them online as not sure what they're called. I'd rather he be with someone and safe even if they are 'too slow' his words not mine (they're all too quick for me even the stragglers).
DS was into weightlifting for ages and has weights in the car port but he couldn't bulk up, he's got muscles defined now from all his hard work but sadly he has the body of a lithe runner not a weightlifter. I did say I'm sure he will bulk out when he's older as his brother did and dad... But all of them started off just tall and skinny 🤷🏻♀️. So he did kinda listen to me I guess and has switched to running. However he's gone from zero to half marathon 🙈 within weeks. Boys are hard work for me...I'd take girl drama any day over hyper boys (so glad I stopped after two of them as they are identical as they grew up!)
Sooo the tablets. They zonk me after taking them. I'm hoping that passes. But the hot flushes seem to be dissipating and quickly. I woke myself up last night as I was under two duvets (both thin ones) and braced myself for the flush. It didn't come. I was just too hot. 😳...I haven't felt like that in ages. Just too hot. Too hot always leads to me feeling like a furnace for a minute or five! I didn't have one all day yesterday either (but it was cold so I assumed that was why). I will observe over the weekend. I'm still struggling with tiredness and lack of energy though. I've been in bed last few days at 7-9pm but maybe I'm just catching up on bad sleep for years on end...I have a lot of catching up to do. Also my memory is an issue at the moment....meno?? Don't know but keeping an eye on this too.
I've been on Amaz0n to get some biotin as mine ran out. But I was able to take out all other things I had in my basket as I'd waited for the drs app..as didn't need vit d, iron, b12 (was quite surprised by this I've been vegan for 6 years this year), magnesium and other bits. So my shop was cheaper than I expected it to be 🤣 I have got split nails though so want biotin for that.
Next month I want my hearing sorted out. I've been really mindful and aware this last week at work and I've come to realise I'm lip reading A LOT rather than hearing what they say. Most of the time I get It right but sometimes I misread them and they look at me blankly 🤣. But I'm realising a lot of people sound muffled to me. Perhaps the ear cleaning will help this but I will get the free ear check too (I'll book it in after the cleaning).
Time for a bit of an MOT for me this year I think.
Had some great feedback from my friend whom I was teaching meditation too, a few techniques she used on her clients has helped immediately. One was having a panic attack and she managed to talk them through a breathing exercise and they calmed down straight away. She's paid me too forgot to say this (I partly used this for my biotin).
I have a day's work in the diary for end of April. It is the temp job I did back in... Oooo maybe September...? Oct? Can't really remember. But the other day a new friend I met on the job messaged me to say they needed more people on these dates ....I couldn't do most as I was at work. But I could do the weds. It's a long and tiring day but we all worked really well together and it was fun- I messaged the hiring lady and she said of course I could come back. So I'm looking forward to that ☺️. Pay was decent too 😁.
I'm also thinking of applying for an invigilator job as we break up early but I think most exams probably clash with the ones I'm going to be doing at work....I may put myself into the bank of invigilators at the local school though. I can always say no if I can't do it I guess. Just thought a few extra bits of money here and there are always helpful. And this type of work is easy on the energy levels 🤭.
DD had a sleepover last night but I didn't hear her so either my ear plugs are great, I really am going deaf or they were pretty quiet. Pizza chips and fizzy pop went down well I think. DS didn't lose his friend. They did 7 miles and called it a day. Friend looked okay thank goodness. And DS didn't drag him out to do a workout after that 🫡 probably because boys mum came to collect him. It's nice he's got friends though as he's always been a little socially awkward which I've worried about (as mum's do) so he's had a few lads round and all seem nice which is good.
Someone from work suggested we watch Adolescence on netflix talking about teens. I watched it with DD and was chatting to someone about it at work yesterday. The boy in it acted exactly how one of my old Friday lot did (in the scene with the psychologist). Except the one who did it with me was 6ft+ and older and scarier. She was shook up and I realised it was okay that I'd reacted the way I did... sometimes we doubt ourselves and we really shouldn't. If you haven't seen it it's quite a tough watch I think. I cried 😢. But then I cry at everything these days.
Right off to get a cuppa and something to eat. It's meant to rain all day was hoping to do some gardening but maybe not...

I have been recommended to watch that too as it will be relatable to some of ours at work.
Also once I take my hearing aids out at night I have a peaceful sleep as I cant hear any of the children up and about and nattering - it's great. I will say the NHS free hearing aids are great and no need to spend hundreds on a posh pair. Honestly there is nothing wrong with them (I was surprised as thought they would be big bulky and beige) and they provide the constant stream of batteries you will need for free, plus any appointments are free. Just get referred through the doctors. I realise it may take a little longer but no need to pay out when there is a great service already there. I rang the dr's surgery and they said that I need to see the nurse to check for wax. After they had decided no that isn't the problem they referred me. A little while after that I got appointment at the hospital for my hearing test, where I it became obvious that I needed hearing aids. At the same appointment I had the moulds for my ears made (Squiggy stuff put in ears to get the exact shape and set for a few minutes). These are sent off and then another appointment to fit hearing aids and adjust to your personal needs. I do find I am encouraging anyone with hearing problems to get checked now and not be worried about wearing them as it has been such a positive experience for me and make such a difference. You are going through a lot
think running club is a great idea for DS he may also meet some new friends and maybe learn wisdom from some of the runners
glad the hot flushes have gone - mine and the cramps have gone since I am on hrt - it’s the only medication I have ever been permanently on but am very glad for it
think getting the right meds is a case of trial and errorDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
