Late start for me today -10am. So going to have a walk through the park on the way to work and get some fresh air. I'm wearing trainers today as my shin is still playing me up.
Hopefully a NSD I need a few now to comfortably make it to the end of the month! Dinner is sorted for later just need to get it out and make it. Fajitas or JP I think I'll give everyone a choice ... And take majority vote.

Afternoon all, I managed a nsd finally yay! So just got dinner to do this evening then a chill as I didn't sleep so well and am knackered already. Roll on spring eh.
My DS1's partner has been on the phone totally distraught this afternoon. He is not getting his work transfer out of Wales for one reason or another. She's upset, he's sounding more depressed by the day and I don't know what I can do to help aside from telling them what I would do in that situation (army so I've suggested they go to welfare and ask for help because this is not only now affecting her PhD work placement but also his mental health and their relationship!!) I'm livid for them both. I will try calling him in a little while but he's at work and isn't allowed his phone when in work time. But I've sent him a message so he should pick that up. What I found most interesting is ddil rang me and not my ex. Ex is in the army and probably has better advice than I do 😂 but that was a 😁😁💪🏻 they needed mum moment which always makes me smile (us mums like to feel needed hey).MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Hi - just catching up on your recent posts - thanks for sharing such heartfelt experiences and advice. I love reading about your vision boards and meditations. I made myself a manifestation board for this year. I've often used Pinterest to collect inspirational statements in one place so I can go back and remind myself when I'm having a tough time at work.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop2

Morning all. I have had a huge bombshell drop on us.
Basically ds1 is absolutely devastated at not moving and has been depressed for some time. He really wasn't himself at Christmas and mother's intuition told me he was struggling. He seems to hit one brick wall after another and I told him it's probably happening for a reason.... perhaps he needs to change direction. Basically folks, he wants to come home. Now being in the forces doesn't mean it will happen tomorrow. Probably by the end of the year.
We have a decent sized four bed house by we also have four adult sized people living here already and DP who needs an office.
So we had plans for converting our garage to an office and play room space (i.e multi functional) but it's not wide enough we realised on moving in so it needed to come down and we start again. It's approx 9ft wide maybe 30+ ft long . I have my ISA maturing this year and I was going to use it on the house because I felt it would be better in bricks than an ISA.
So we've got several ideas floating around. DS and DDIL need to come home for approx 2 years. They have debt and they have no money put aside for getting their own place.
Plan 1 is to convert what we have and apply for change of use. No idea on costs it needs a new roof, windows and door and insulation as well as services.
Plan 2 is pull it down and get a purpose built granny annexe type build - we can only afford a small one though.
Plan 3 DP has is to convert half our garage and also put up annexe after pulling down the back end of the garage.
I'm well aware of the budget and DP not so much.
First thing first I told DS to go into work and hand his notice in and see what they say. They could well back track and give him his move. However DS had plans to move and then leave anyway and work his last year of service in a nicer place. So either way it looks like my son will be coming home. I am happy 🙏🏻 DP I think is thinking omg more children coming home? Aren't we supposed to be slowly offloading them 🙈😏.
DS has said he and DDIL will obviously pay their way so whatever we put up could pay for itself.
Why oh why does this sort of thing happen to us time after time. Just as I state to the world, I am having a slow year...the universe go, oh really? That's what you think 😂 here....solve this problem now.
Anyway it's Tuesday and I have my friend in work today (she only does three days and we only share one lunch time the same all week) so we are going to meet up for lunch and go somewhere other than the lunch room. I just need to get through my morning with the naughty boy first (he's so cute and reminds me of my DS2 though I want to laugh when he's being naughty - not that I do though!)
Best get ready for work I guess...MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I also get very twitchy when things are sailing along all smoothly because something always happens to knock me off guard.
Lots to think about but it is good that he is probably coming home. Any room in the garden / on drive for a temporary caravan for them to sleep in while you get things build?Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Ahhh I have gone overdrawn!! Have managed to move some money about to cover it but I've just remembered I will need money for my dentist appointment tomorrow!! It's because the TV cabinet went on pending and I counted it as spent. Then it went off pending and I hadn't realised and thought the money was still there to be spent. And this morning it was just gone 🤦🏻♀️ human error on my part.
Good news is my TV unit has arrived earlier than planned so we can move the TV off the shaky makeshift tables we've pushed together and make the cupboard and move the furniture around to where it's supposed to be.
NSD today 👏🏻
A not so great morning at work. Definitely not awful but it was stressful as one student went and complained about me doing my job. I got told not to do my job by my manager so stood around thinking what the hell do I do instead?! I hate standing/ sitting around with nothing to do it passes so slowly.
Afternoon was okay.
I met with my friend at lunch and we went off campus and to a local cafe. I ate my pack up in a corner 🫣 (I'd forgotten my purse as wasn't expecting to eat out) and she bought me a herbal tea. She ate and the staff didn't seem to care too much but I did feel bad but equally I was hungry as had skipped breakfast 🙄🤷🏻♀️.
JPs for dinner so I have some time to do the TV unit whilst it cooks.
DS has apparently handed his verbal notice in. I will confirm with him later. DDIL messaged to let me know. DP and I still talking about how to go around this and make them some space to live. He's stressed about Money but I'm more stressed my son isn't happy and depressed as he's been very bad before and I'd hate for him to get to that state again... Bit of a bone of quiet contention as DP probably feels they should go find a home to rent. I am happy to help (perhaps I'm too soft but I don't care. It's my mission to be the opposite of my upbringing with my kids and that Involves helping my kids where I can).
Day off tomorrow and jobs are dentist, post office, bank to take ID so they will open my savers account for me. Then home to prime the cupboard DP has made in the front room. Aside from that nothing much else planned. Though, most of that will probably take the whole day....MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
