  • So far … half the hallway done! 3 bin bags gone. Having a rest! Made homegrown rhubarb and apple crumble,
sausage rolls and flapjacks. Will do something chicken-y later for dinner and a batch cook. Debating batch of teriyaki chicken with rice or noodles,
or chicken curry and then maybe a pesto chicken puff with mozzarella for dinner? If I can be bothered! Slow cooking ham too. Productive Sunday. 🥳

Hallway/s all done. Just some shoes and scarves to sort through but whole house is looking presentable and the garden-just, lots of decluttering and I’m happy! Batch cook got to the point of just cooking chicken on its own, as could not decide! Gammon (slow cooked and then roasted in honey) and mushroom creamy pasta for dinner later and some leftover for lunch. Got the week organised I think! 🥳 now just that last remaining £1400 of DMP to go and I’ll be on top of the world 👌🏼💪🏼🎉🤞🏼🤩

  • Awake early but not out of bed. Contemplating the weekend and level of productivity I’m going for? I’d say 40% productive and 60% rest. Had a lot on yesterday even though it was technically my day off so want a lovely chill day today.
I don’t have loads of house bits to do like last weekend. I think the lawn will last another week without mowing. I have some paperwork to go over, a bit of sorting, the floors and washing. I’d like to organise the sock drawers and Tupperware/pan cupboard because they annoy me every day, but they seem like the most boring and annoying jobs!
Shopping delivery coming, just basics coming and freezer is full so need to utilise whatever is in there 🤔 this week. Freezer surprise and freezer tapas this week.
Might doze off back to sleep, might take the dog for a sunrise walk? We’ll see what happens, I think that’s the overall weekend vibe!

I’m really enjoying the weekends at the moment. Getting the chores done and those little extras. Walked dog early doors, all washing and floors done, some sorting. House looks good and I’m feeling quite content. All building work paid for now and finished. Thank goodness. Now for a tight 4 weeks I think then in a month I may be throwing a little bit of an overpayment at the DMP 🤞🏼 even a few tenners be good. I just can’t wait to have it done now! Then an emergency fund.. without hopefully too many emergencies! 🤞🏼then savings! Ohhhh I’m so ready for the peace of mind of being out of this debt, and all debt. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼off for a good long sleep… again.. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼fingers crossed!

  • Just totalled up.. We (the building) had some money saved in our maintenance fund and split the rest of the bills for the building works. That’s been £2500 I’ve paid in total over the last few months. It’s been really tough however I’ve done it and it’s shown me, even with DMP £455pm payments I can still find money by cutting back and being super mindful. This is filling me with hope for next year and being DMP free, up £455 per month and I can find another £500 ish per month when needed. I have seen this in my budget on paper but it’s not been realised in reality until these building bills created the necessity, it’s been tough though. I’m thinking of the possibility of saving a lot of that money and DMP payments next year. That will be going religiously into the 1. emergency fund, 2. Savings pot, 3. holiday pot.
I usually do my annual budget in December for Jan onwards, as that was just after my DMP review. I’m going to budget with those pots as if they’re bills for the next year. That way the money will be allocated off and not floating in my current account balance. It’s simple but so tricky mindset wise. What I do not want to happen is be up £455 and not have anything to show for it. I refuse to let that happen! 💪🏼✅👍🏼

  • Just read your diary BudgetingBelinda and reflecting - so many of us are in this DFD land after relationships ending. Makes me vow more than ever to never compromise my financial independence again. All the decisions (and blips along the way no doubt!) will be mine.

I could write this post too. 🤣
Paperwork is everywhere right now. Sock drawers are too small for the socks. And pots and pans ...they also overspill so much that they fall out every time I go in there. 🤣 I will watch and wait to see if you manage the hat trick later! It might spur me on to get one of these things done...
