Amazing job, the reflection on just how far you have come is incredible, what great work you have done. Everything crossed for the MOT and the fact you will be rid of the debt by Dec anyways is awesome. Hoping the building work is sorted soon2

Passed MOT! I was looking for cheap cars beforehand! Not needed and so relieved! Means building pot is up to £700 and I had a takeaway 😆.
now just to get this last bit of building work done and I’ll feel in much better control again of finances. All leading up to debt freedom in December. Groceries are still my downfall. So expensive. Will be a mindful summer holidays too with hopefully not to much frittering. Let’s get these last few months done! I want to be debt freeeeeee now!Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 97/550

Having a little staycation at a friends house while they are away, which is lovely! My family is visiting which will be nice. Not so lovely.. the dear children's father has not paid any maintenance for them this month. Apparently he’s not been paid. He doesn’t contribute much anyway but with summer hols activities in the mix it’s not good timing, and building work has depleted my buffer. He just smiled when asked about it and was an aubergine 🍆! Made me reflect though on what a hideous relationship it was and how a decade ago he spent all of our money on himself and an affair while I was 9 months pregnant. He didn’t even have a car to get to work in. I worked up until a week before I had to go into hospital to earn extra money and when he came back from his overseas work with £0 and no car I had to buy a little run around car for him to be able to get to work. Yuck. Can’t quite believe I put up with it for another few years after that. And a decade later he is still financially irresponsible. I’m not convinced he genuinely has not been paid, but even if I give him the benefit of the doubt his attitude, smirk and shoulder shrugs are pretty gross. I am just 1800 away from
being out of my DMP after breaking up with him finally in 2020 in 20 thousand pounds worth of debt! I went into the relationship 20k in savings too. I’m more angry at myself for being so used. My boundaries are so different now. Almost too far the other way?! But I am so excited to write this toxic debt off soon, which has been a constant reminder of a horrible time. I’m going to struggle financially this month but I’m hanging in there as the future looks so much brighter 👌🏼 aubergine free! 🎉🥳

Oh wow! Your above post echos my situation in so many ways!!! His is money was his money whilst my money was for everything, racking up debt because of lack of help, no car (even continued to give him lifts to work after we split because he was cheating on me!) And now that I'm aubergine free I have so much more financial stability!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)2 -

How old are the kids could you go through child maintenance for it? It annoys me so much when people mess around with money for their kids. Most parents would choose to go without to make sure their kids had everything they need. Well done for getting rid!*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200

@Sarahwithlove thanks!.. they’re 12 and 10. CMS was my next move. I mentioned that to him and he sent the £’s. He fibs to me about how much he earns and CMS add on a % so I think that will be in my back pocket for future. He’s bipolar so there are periods of time where it’s ok and then this nonsense. I might still go through CMS 🤔Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 97/550
