spare room? It sounds like its a bedroom. You are sleeping in a bedroom in your house. Thats ok. When you are ready, try one of the other bedrooms in your house. You might like it, you might not. Maybe incorporate some other small nice things into your 'stay', like reading for fifteen minutes before you get up, or having a cuppa and a croissant in bed, or using toiletries you save for special instead of your usual?

I totally relate to some rooms not feeling quite right. As you know I've been struggling with my back L shape - particularly the inner most part of it that is intended to be my art area. In my case I know it's partly due to the light - but it could also still be due to the newness of everything (that I still feel 3 months after moving).Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The house is all yours. Use the rooms how you like. And find the instructions or a YT video for the shower! Apparently you should always test out your spare bedrooms anyway to see how they work - maybe to make sure no one will want to stay for too long
The holiday weekend seems like a good time to change rooms. But keep them both made up so you can sleep where you feel most comfortable.7 -
Could you use the new bedding in the room you're in now? That breaks it in without the unfamiliarity of the newly decorated room. Then if and when you want to change rooms, it can go with you, or not, as you please.
I think at the end of the day it's easy to have the familiar, so I can understand you not wanting to go into a squeaky clean new unused room.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Enjoy discovering your new home at your own pace !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Picked up the door handle from the blacksmith yesterday but it does not fit back on. He did raise this as a possibility as he had to build the lock back up. I can take it back and he will file it down some more but the VNM was with me when I picked it up and he and the blacksmith chatted away for a while and the VNM has a file in the work van that will do the job so he is going to do it. This is particularly nice of him as he won £300 on the lottery at the weekend and has now spent that at the dentist fixing a tooth that WattyDog knocked out the day after he won that and bless him, he has not grumbled once.
Despite being 7.5 years old WattyDog is still an exuberant puppy at heart and bounces about like one oblivious to his size and steadfastly declining to obey basic commands. He knows them and obeys beautifully when out and he has an audience but in the house he sees no point and will not do as asked.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
