daisy_1571 said:spare room? It sounds like its a bedroom. You are sleeping in a bedroom in your house. Thats ok. When you are ready, try one of the other bedrooms in your house. You might like it, you might not. Thats OK.In our previous house, which had 3 bedrooms when I bought it, I used to sleep in the middle sized room as I liked that it was at the back overlooking the garden (it was also useful when I heard would-be burglars trying to get over the neighbours fence one night and scared them off when I switched the security light on). When OH came on the scene, we moved into the bigger front bedroom. Then we extended and moved into the new bedroom over the garage. I'm not sure that I ever slept in the small bedroom. In our current house apart from the bathroom and kitchen, we've slept in every room including the hall at different times when the building work was going on, often on an airbed.Make £2025 in 2025

No monthly review of the finances. I've quickly glanced over the position. Pension shot up by 6K mid month then dropped by 2k. There is enough money in the bills account to cover this month and half of next month. The EF barely passes muster as there have been a lot of ancillary spends around the renovation of the house. The stuff that isn't included in the builders quotes like new bedding, door handles, a new tablecloth and so on. All small spends in and of them selves but added up along with heating and boiler repairs.
Also have fallen very very behind on work so this morning have cleared desk completely to dining room table so i can get some focus in (yes I did that around 6 am). I can't work through as physio this morning and also have agreed to meet the friend with "troubles on her horses yard" for a coffee as she wants someone to chat things over with. Whilst work stressed me so much I was up at 5.00 am I also know that it is important to support others as I would not have survived without the support of others in recent years. So a couple of hours work, then off for coffee with her then back to the physio and office desk finally at around 1 pm.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Hopefully the time you can't be at work this morning will give your brain chance to mull things over subconsciously so you go back with extra oomph. It's good to be able to give back.
All those spends that have drained the EF are going to be in place for a good while so that will give you a chance to recoup.

Friend was very tearful so listened and made a few suggestions. Then long call with my sister who is ill with no diagnosis yet and she was also tearful as she has gone from being very active to flopped on the sofa feeling faint and with a sore throat and lumps all along her lymph system. Doctors are hoping it is just viral. She has more tests next week. I keep saying when you get the diagnosis we can come up with a plan but she does sound very down too.
I still can't quite manage to move back into the bedroom but i have started to use the new bathroom and found the instruction book for the shower.
Given friend and sister, I'm shaking my head and my own mental health issues and spending the bank holiday working through the muddle of my business and trying to get things cleared.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Dodged the showers this morning to ride the Charming Cob who was beautifully behaved although a little put out that we had to go a longer route than usual and kept politely but defiantly turning around to come home whenever we stopped for traffic. He did consent to do the route but I am in no doubt about his feelings on the matter.
The VNM is with his mother so I'm planning a lovely day catching up with "stuff". Something I have wanted for years is lights in the corner display unit on the kitchen and I am so excited that I have put up re-chargeable ones. They look every bit as good as I hoped and I've also managed to put up a hanging rail in the cupboard under the stairs. It is a retractable one so I can pull it out to see what is hanging on it. Now my high vis coat, yard coat and going out coat along with a high vis for the VNM are all hanging up instead of heaped on the back of chairs. Next I think I will screw the air vents back into place. They were very pitted and looked so old and dated but I've cleaned them, rubbed them down and spray painted them and they look really good now. It is these tiny little things that are making the house feel mine now.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thank you both. The day got better. The outside lights looked really tatty now the door has been done, the brickwork fixed and the windows painted. I bought the lights in a salvage yard for around £50 about 10 to 12 years ago and I really like them so set about unscrewing them. A neighbour walking his dog asked very kindly if I wanted some help. Wasn't that nice? I used to be lonely and feel quite lost here but really there are so many lovely people around me. Clearly I just needed to leave my ex to discover that.
Anyway lights down I started to clean them in a bucket of soapy water and I found a makers mark so out of curiosity googled it. OMG: it seems it is a premium brand. My lights are like this one (not exactly as mine have more screw holes to fix to the wall but that is the only difference)

Although I've been using them the other way up so they hang downwards. I was shocked by the price as that is for one, I paid less than £50 for the pair (I think I haggled them down from the £50). I was nervous of cleaning them after thatAlthough I have cleaned them and they are now in the barn partially sanded. The VNM has asked if he can work on them as he loves doing restoration work and rarely does it now so I agreed. He has some "product" that will buff up the lanterns he thinks and was happily making a better job of the sanding than i was doing. I had been planning to just put one of those "covers all rust" type black paints on but he wants to do a "proper" job and promises they will look gorgeous when finished.
I'd love the lights if they turned out to be cheap and from a supermarket but it a nice surprise to find out they were not.
