Thank you all for the positive comments. Been out and bought blackout blinds for some windows in white to go with the walls which will be fine while I sort the curtains and a white sheet to go with the new bedding and a new lampshade for the bedroom.
I have a pile of unused lampshades as I bought them in the local charity shop to use when I finally renovated but the colours are not quite right. Still they were cheap enough and the ones I don't use can go back there.
I was just going to reuse what I had and so on but it dawned on me that the building work is costing so much I might as well finish the job by making the house entirely mine and so on a regular basis stuff leaves the house to go to the charity shop, is sold or thrown. Whilst out I got a text from the VNM to say he would call in and park up and take some more of my rubbish to dispose of at work which was kind of him. He seems to have taken more of the roofing materials that were dumped by the barn so I really appreciate that as I was thinking I would need a skip..Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Two maybe three more trips to the VNM place of work might just get rid of all that roofing stuff thus saving skip. It will take a while as he has to wait for the site to be clear (weekends) and the bin he uses to be empty and he needs stuff from his sites to dump but if those three align again more will be removed. I am so grateful.
The main bathroom is almost finished and so I decided to clean the bathroom floor and repair the grouting and cracked tiles (I've bought the stuff and read the instructions and this is clearly a job I can do). To do so I needed cleaning materials and a couple of brushes. Four hours later no cleaning had occurred but four kitchen cupboards have been cleaned. In the process of looking for the stuff I needed I emptied out the cupboards and was surprised to see that someone who frankly does very little cleaning owns 4 bottles of bleach, five bottles of hob cleaner, 2 bottles of floor cleaner and so the list goes on. There was a box of shoe cleaning supplies left behind by the ex which contained six pairs of unused laces and shoe polish for shoes I no longer have (not sure why he had my shoe polish but hey ho).
In the process of cleaning and clearing one bag for charity shop, one large bin bag full of rubbish and cleaning stuff neatly stored. I will have to use now LOL
Am still wondering why I had three dustpans and brushes! Not thinking about the sunk costs just concentrating on getting straight and creating a peaceful house.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

KK(& if they will ask questions hoping to have their ego stroked they take their chances..)All these cleaning sounds incredibly cathartic - this is you healing and moving on
loving the bed set - I also sleep in leopards and bright linens - I also have hand art decorated the walls with metallic gold paint …
I always have silk pillowcases as it saves my hair and the more thread count tue better !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Loving the bedding set, we have one very similar colours in a double set from Dunelm which is now in the spare room as we've upgraded to king size. OH wasn't keen on me getting the same one for the kingsize so we now have a very boring lilacy-pink set. I might just have to accidentally buy something a bit more interesting when he's not with me, which is how I got the first ones.

Well done on the cupboard cleaning even if it wasn't the job you set out to do. Good about the rubbish clearance tooAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

With all this clearing and changing it feels as if the house energy is clearing.
Yesterday I repaired some of the grouting in the bathroom. I still have a lot more to repair but I have started. This was really good because whenever I did any d-i-y stuff before the ex would just tell me to leave it to him and that I should go and earn more money. It was always said as a joke but towards the end it did not feel a joke at all so it is nice to be doing things like that.
The sockets are now in the bedroom and are just beautiful but I had not realised how badly the previous sockets had been fitted and so the new ones are not perfect but I am ok with that. They are mine, I chose them, bought them and had them fitted. All me. All good.
Also found time to ride Charming Cob and was filled with joy. He was striding out and clearly felt great so I sent a message to the physio to thank her as her monthly visits have so helped him recover.
Finally walked around the field last night to look at where the bracken used to be. Note I say "used to be" There is some sprouting but so little sprouting that I feel I have it under control. It has taken a lot of work but the method worked. I remember when I started the ex would keep telling me that my method would never work and he was so negative that I just gave up However two years ago I explained bracken control to the VNM and he suggested we give it a go as a series of "date nights". Last night the results of that effort are so obvious, we both know the stuff will come back if we don't keep on top of the area but it really was a "wow" "we did that" moment as I looked at the field last night. Then I sat on my "waiting to be painted second hand market place bench" and just felt joy.
I know I am not yet over the trauma but the major house works and seeing results in every area is really helping.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
