Sounds really frustrating. Good to be aware of the safety risk though - even if it annoying.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The boiler company are coming Tuesday. The "lets diagnose" over the phone led to a flood of water so I balanced the trap back on the pipe and that seemed to stop the leak. Lets hope WattyDog does not crash into the cupboard in the next four days. That part might not have been fitted back after the service, or, if it was something has clearly corroded away.
The amount of stuff that needs "sorting" seems never ending. I just get one job done and 5 more appear. Feeling exhausted and like a large glass of white wine, but, I am trying to drink less with a few to giving up so even that is not an option this evening.
On the bright side progress is being made and I have managed to deal with the boiler company and find a plumber successfully. This is healing as the last time I tried to get it sorted the ex and I were still together. He set me up for complete failure, I ended up with a company that cost me a lot of money, no fix and he then belittled me for failing before sweeping in to fix it and to make me feel even more inadequate. I realised how scarring that was back then and today I have coped well and at least have a plan.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Only one builder quoting for the outside wall, the one who is here at present. No one else returned the calls. We have had a walk around and he has pointed out jobs that will need doing in the next 12 to 18 months. I had already spotted them but were pushing them to the back of my mind. He has also showed me some work that was done badly and talked through what to look out for so I don't get caught out if things do go wrong.
We have an economical solution for the alarm (disconnect it and add a couple of ring cameras) which seemed sensible. I can't work out what the ex has done with the alarm, I've no idea why it randomly goes off and to be honest it is a concern so it will be one less stress to worry about. WattyDog is an excellent alarm system for all the surrounding houses unless he has given himself a few hours off and having spoken to a few companies the general feeling is take it out and start again which is expensive and probably not that necessary.
The outside wall is not as bad as google and the DIY board here led me to believe but 3 walls need some re-pointing (not the whole walls just in places) and unless this is done by next winter it will only get worse as water is getting in, freezing and cracking the bricks). The windows are going to need painting in the few months, he showed me where the varnish is peeling and the boards under the guttering are peeling (I can see that) and letting in rain.
I really feel that I do one job and another lot show up as needing to be done.
Although my sensible brain tells me I should get comparative quotes this chap (a) turns up (b) is likeable and importantly (c) the standard of his work seems really good. I think if his quote is reasonable - I'd go with him. You can check rough prices on sites like with 'a trade' in the name.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

With the alarm has anything changed around it. When they were doing somethings next door the alarm started going off every mid afternoon. It didn't have a motion sensor but it was going off as soon as the sun got near it. When they went back to closing the internal door near it, then it stopped.
