You can still change your mind or ask for time to consider before further appointments, and in doing so you could state as @Suffolk_lass has described above. Don't feel pushed into it; only take them up if you think there may be some actual help from the service and even then, bear in mind sometimes we have to try various places before we find the right one.
I have to say a huge 'well done' for a very impressive response to the email.

Well done on telling your GP & the NHS service just what you think of them and especially for telling them outright that better services can be had elsewhere (privately). Very proud of you for standing up to them!!!

This is why I just paid privately for counselling I didn't have the strength in me to fight with the NHS. Well done for fighting them though and the outcome 🙌🏻💪🏻

I think Suffolk Lass is right - they just did not want the complaint on the books probably because it reflects badly on any funding bids.
I simply kicked the can down the road and made an appointment for later in the month because I felt cornered and couldn't think of what to say - but - I fully intend to cancel it nearer the date.
Private counselling tomorrow and I'm thinking over what to do with that, but, I do like her and will give it a few more sessions now she is back from her extended holidays.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

What is it you didn't like about the private counselling? You could always try another one if you don't feel you're getting anywhere. I've only had one session so far. And like you I've a page filled with 'traumas' and although self-diagnosed with C-PTSD which she initially questioned, she agreed with me after the first session and said it would take some time to see results because my triggers are so deeply inbedded in me. Will probably be the same for you. And I was told it would be a long up and down journey...I'm not entirely sure whether I'll continue long term, I don't want everything brought up just to go over, I want help navigating how to not be triggered and constantly living in a state of hyper vigilance. If I see results though I think it would be worth while going over anything that needs to be gone over x

Might be useful research to go to the appt and see what they have to say for themselves after you've told clinic their pathway is dreadful, you might actually get someone good or at least someone who's like 'actually helping is above our paygrade but I would recommend looking into...'

I'll see how I feel nearer the time re NHS person. . Private counsellor is back from her hols and I have an appointment booked which is good as there are some issues that have been bothering me that I really want to sort out in my head and I will assess how helpful the session is before making a call on what to do next.
Workwise the telephone system voice mail is finally working properly again - only took 2 weeks for that to get fixed and astonishingly a call at the end of the workday revealed I had a very large sum sitting on a payment platform I use. I was a little thrown by this but after 90 mins work and a few phone calls I found the solution - for a brief moment I thought I was up £54000 which was so exciting - but - no - it belongs to someone else. Funds now reallocated.
As a result of this I actually get a £16 gift card - just need to decide where for so will check the platform for that later. I'm hoping there is an M&S one so I can treat me and the VNM to something from the food hall - although - might settle for a rather boring one and use it towards the new pressure washer as the old one broken beyond repair. Decisions decisions ….

I hear ya Watty! Who'd thunk "free" cash could cause such issues for careful spenders! 😁
