The correct bra can totally transform your shape. I go once a year to a local independent shop for a proper fitting, I normally buy 2 off her then hunt down the rest on Vinted !Sealed pot challenge 822

Another one here wearing poorly fitting and uncomfortable bras just because buying bras is horribly expensive, or horribly miserable, and usually both
As one of you lovely readers pointed out, small independent retailers really are essential for the personal stuff like underwear, hair and so on. Knowing and loving what they do makes the whole process such a treat as well as practical.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Cherryfudge said:What a super-useful service! A shop local to me had a proper bra fitter and she explained to me that even the same make can differ in fit between different styles. I wish the shop was still there as I think I need to be properly fitted again.
I'm loving watching you readjust your image to fit with who you really are.
And thank you about the comment about adjusting my image. That is so kind and lovely.
When I was with PPH I employed a stylist to go through my wardrobe with me and declutter and then help me find myself. I know see the problem was PPH and not me. I need to go through my wardrobe slowly now and have a bit of a clear out as I am certainly changing and growing so wardrobe sort is on the list for the future.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Back to work for me today! I had a lot of time off last week so need to focus on clearing my desk today as am planning on taking Monday next week off.
Today the plan is to clear and re-organise underwear drawer, work in the office, take CC out and then harvest supper at nearby village. Really looking forward to the harvest supper, four of us are going and it is the church that in summer we pop in for the most fabulous cream teas, and the church is just so friendly and delightful people so should be a nice evening.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Or perhaps when you reach retirement you will be spending an afternoon a week behind the counter, chatting to customers and recommending the carrot cake? Accompanied by at least one of your afternoon tea friends, to complete the idyl.
The plans for today sound good. I hope you and CC have a lovely ride through this delicious autumn sun (Assuming you have it, but a lovely ride anyway).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Bit late to the bra discussion but just wanted to add the one I wear is a sports bra type that pulls over the head then clips with a bra hook. Good for straps never falling off. Also very comfy. Need to be able to reach around the back to close it. Reasonable ISH at £30

A comfy sports bra @WelshmansDaughter you have the holy grail there
Harvest Supper was lovely. My two friends did not turn up, claiming to have forgotten (they had paid) so I just settled in and had a lovely evening chatting to people. Everyone sat at two long tables and it was so sociable. Nice food too. Sausage stew followed by apple crumble and cream with drinks on the table. Fabulous evening.
It also made me less concerned about moving out of area. It helped me realise that if I move out of area there will be communities just like this that me and the VNM could slot into if we just make an effort. I know he is less concerned about knowing people but people locally are important to me as I worked so hard to build my network after PPH (although given the two no shows yesterday evening I am not so sure how good it is).
Finding a community will be important if (when?) I leave this area. VNM asked if there was any chance we could afford to live in that village as he had such a nice evening chatting to people but, although close to where we are now, it is (a) expensive and (b) suffers from the same problem I have here of very few places to ride.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Late to the bra discussions; my Grandmother was a corsetry consultant in her fifties and sixties. She used to consult on behalf of a couple of the old bra manufacturers, and was sent around the UK to the large town independent department stores. They used to put up a board, a month beforehand, announcing that Mrs Barbara Suffolk lass would be available for the week of dd-dd for pre-booked corsetry fittings and consultations. Non-stop bosoms, she called it. Lots of shortline (to the waist) and longline (to the leg tops with suspenders hanging from the bottom) bras in those days. Proper upholstery.
She ran shows too. I remember modelling for one as a teenager, presenting to a Townswomen's guild on your children's first bra. And of course, I was shown at a very early age, how to put my bosom in a bra. My one and only fitting at Rigby and Peller did suggest I went down a back size and up 2 cup sizes, but to be told mine fitted better than most, really helped my self esteem. The best advice is to buy a bra that is tight under your chest when new, and to move to tighten the hooks as it loses some elasticity.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2234.63/£3000 or 74.49% of my annual spend so far (not going to be much of a Christmas at this rate as no spare after 9 months!
