Fungus is ‘shaggy bracket’. Seems this is the reason the tree did not do so well. May eventually fall so probably best taken down before all the apple trees are infectedMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

@Cherryfudge and @PennysIntoPounds you are both enjoying the idea of Lamb Paddock I think. I'll invite you to stay under the tarpaulin for a night or two

Look into the workaway scheme. They'll be falling over themselves to stay under the tarpaulin and fix up the sawbench for only bed, breakfast and evening meal!

Reading on these boards has me mulling over the joys of growing veg and preserving food for the winter. Long before PPH I had an allotment. I tried a veg garden here but never managed the time for it although the first year was really fun and productive. The onion bed that was suggested on my thread was wrecked when the wall came down.
Still I love the "idea" and then this morning reality hit me. I can barely muster the energy to feed us both nutritious meals but, after maybe three weeks of just having meals delivered by the companies that think it out and send the card and ingredients I do feel that I can return to at least planning some kind of meals now and return to the "use up" that I started earlier in the year.
So, that is where I will start. I need ideas for the apples that are surviving so will stew some for the freezer and look for an easy apple crumble recipe as I'm sure I have the ingredients for that. The horses can eat the rest, then I don't feel guilty!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Apple cake is very tasty
Growing salad leaves in a pot/tub/small trough is a very easy thing to do and plan for next year. (You can take the tub with you !)
Fill with compost, sprinkle seeds and you then just pick the number of leaves you need each day. No more bags of salad leaves going slimy in the fridge.

Herbs are tough and give a big return for little effort. Soft herbs like parsley in cool, shady areas and woody aromatics like rosemary and thyme in sunny spots
