Lovely morning so far. Ponies in the field, the VNM asleep and I have had breakfast, and cups of tea with a chocolate biscuit (really must get back to healthy eating) whilst reading on here.
Hospital been in touch. Two scans booked for Tuesday and apparently I should have been having smear tests and after discussing with the gynaecology nurse why I have not had one for over 10 years, she hit the roof and has emailed my GP surgery to explain they are not following NHS guidelines and one should be done without delay. (GP surgery told me they couldn't do one as they didn't have the right "paperwork" and then that I was too old to need one, neither of which are true apparently). The uselessness of surgery will not be missed. The surgery have since texted me to say smear test booked for end of next month, so nice to know what the "urgent" and "without delay" meant. The hospital will do if not done before I see consultant which will be booked on basis of scans. Nurse really lovely, possibilities discussed from this is nothing to worry about to this might be serious and we need to get you checked discussed and concluded with lets not worry for 2 weeks until we can get results from all tests. I am calmly of the opinion that there is nothing to worry about but that is as a result of having the budget £70 scan done.
Further work by osteopath on shoulder. Pain level down so all good. Daily exercises still to do.
Work has been a little quiet and I'm nicely caught up with routine stuff so this weekend I will eat some of the elephants, the first one being to write a three hour lecture that is needed for Wednesday. Then will book trains to lecture venue and sort out what to wear in line with guidelines supplied (lecture being professionally filmed).
Once lecture done will go to village library to return books (local library near to new house to be added to list of things I would like) then will tackle more of the "work elephants" or, as nice day, ride one of the horses and do more barn clearing.

Sounds like a lovely weekend planned
great you have clarity on the house move - maybe do a vision board with what you (& Wattydog) want in your next homeDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

My current vision board now I look at it works well, yes it has the barn conversion which I will not now do but actually a little house like that would be just perfect, there are apple trees, orchards, pots in plants, horses and friends with horses. It works as the life I want but I have added two phrases "happy hacking" and "smash your goals in 2025"

Spent most of the day working as a lot came in via the post and next week is super busy. Packed for Wednesday's lecture, booked and paid train tickets to get discounted rate and now answering emails.
The VNM has been sorting stuff left by PPH. Every item left behind has either been broken or is broken so he is seeing what can be salvaged as he helps with the clearing of PPH stuff in the barn. I do not know what much of it is or was and felt overwhelmed so we agreed that he will clear, and then, bring his bikes and tools over so we can get his stuff sorted as part of the preparations to move. It might be a long term goal but I certainly need my barn cleared, and, if he is to move with me, then he needs to clear his stuff up too.
Am pleased with the business, the hard work is paying off as my turnover now exceeds my hopes for the year. I'm now going to answer a few more emails and then check the resources on the Federation of Small Businesses website as I need to update my website ts and cs to tighten things up and also to limit the use of some purchases as, if I want to retire, I need to set some limits.
Again nothing happening imminently but like the barn, I need to start somewhere with small steps.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I pictured a house with a few shallow stairs to the front door, then realised that's not what you meant...
Really amazing financial progress, @Watty1! You are clearly flying. And the barn clearance is great planning - get rid of the PPH memories, replace with more appropriate things and you are closer to being able to move.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

No one has picked up the metal scrap left outside so the usual chap must have moved on. (In the past I've just left stuff and it vanishes but I understand the price of scrap has fallen dramatically recently so maybe that explains why). If it does not go in a few days will need to go to tip.
In other exciting news I did a quick financial review yesterday. I've been moving money into pension pot so all good there (well other than Trumpington falls but it will recover) and, drumroll, I have 5 months bills money saved.
When with PPH my goal was always that we would have money for a years worth of bills saved. We never managed more than a month or so, but, from a starting place of zero, I have in 16 months managed to save 5 months and boost pension pot.
It is now more than ever clear to me that PPH was draining the account and shuffling money for own ends as, since paying him off, buying the house and then focusing on complete frugality I've managed to boost pension, save 5 months of bills and continue to build a little in own savings. Alright - I'm smiling- as if anyone can be MSE with 3 horses - but - I have managed some renovations too. Sheer hard work, doing the course, having cheerleaders on here - honestly it is amazing what we can collectively achieve.

That's (another) brilliant achievement - well done on the five months' worth of bills money.

A lovely young male knocked on the door to ask if he could have the broken jack outside in the scrap metal pile. Naturally I said yes, so we moved it to by the door so it would not be taken. Then he eyed up the rest of the scrap and asked for that too - apparently he wants the wheels off the jack and thinks he can usefully use the rest to make "something". He came back with his grandfather to collect it. What a delightMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That was the nice interlude in 3 hours of rambling round a legal group I belong to with the intention of revising my business Ts and Cs. I ended up more confused that I started out. After 3 hours I decided to simply add a couple of phrases to existing terms and at some future point might ask a lawyer to draft as they probably have a standard one they adapt. I signed up for this legal group a couple of years ago but their help is frankly non existent, their emails downright scary and whilst there are some useful documents (I downloaded a couple) so that will be a saving as will not renew. .Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
