When you run your own business, putting money away for a pension can be hard. I don't think some friends who are enrolled in their employers' schemes with employers also putting contributions in can appreciate how difficult and scary it can be when you have to do it all yourself. I was lucky that my little business was successful and I could make good contributions, if I'd been relying on what I'd got through my previous employment, the future would look pretty bleak. I'm so glad you can make chunky contributions. Take that PPH.Make £2025 in 2025

And so the power cables etc rumbles on. No lump payments in this part of the world @Alchemilla Here vast amounts of underground cables, a mini substation two poles and stays net £94 a year but cannot be paid because of the land registry still showing PPH In exasperation I copied him in on the email to ask him to confirm he no longer has a share in the property.
His work email bounced back so I assume he has retired but I had copied it to his personal one as well and he replied, surprisingly quickly confirming that i owned the entire property and he had no claim on the rental income. (He then privately emailed me and said maybe he could have the money paid to him if it was proving difficult and he could send it on to me - I think NOT !!!)
The unpaid cheques are now not to be cashed because they are (a) the wrong amount and (b) were payments in advance and they no longer do that. For less than £2 a week I can see why people give up trying to get them to pay up.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

What a total faff, had a chuckle about PPH being 'helpful' though.6

What a hassle but will be worth it once it gets sorted. I think you are absolutely right to say how well you have done he left you in a right mess and you have not only risen above it but also soared. Good luck with the next course.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Watty1 said:Friends wonder why I work so hard, why I go to bed early and so on. I think everyone of you gets that. I want to rebuild and every win like that is one thing I have achieved by myself and for myself after the mess PPH left for me. Thank you.Whether you go to bed early due to your business or due to recovering for the period of stress, your friends are lucky not to understand. Some of us had a conversation at work last week about the time we go to bed, some based on the time they have to get up etc. They seemed shocked when I said I try to be reading/doing nothing else by 8.30 and often have the light out by 9/9.30. That is me trying to recover my mind and body from months of higher stress levels. I am glad they don't understand!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

@badmemory I think they do bank on that, as after a bit of emailing they have upped the rate to £3 a week and I barely think it worth it at all. It has however highlighted an issue with the land registry and PPH that I have asked the solicitor that did the transfer to chase up.
The existing agreement has been cancelled and I think they were a little surprised when I said well, with no agreement you can move off my land immediately which seemed to bring a resolution Barely worth the money but I think they are counting on that.
@ajmoney I think you make a good point. I was in bed and lights out by 10.00 pm last night and that was late for me. It is the only way to recover from stress and as a former night owl I am surprised and I like your re-frame to be glad others do not need it and do not need to understand. Nice!

Been to see the chosen tooth implant person, had CT bone scan, have discussed the work and then spent £6 on champagne chocolate truffles to recover from the sticker price shock on the way home. Have eaten all the truffles and feel sick - due to the chocolate not the price of the implant (it was about £500 more than expected). Took two trains rather than driving to test the journey and the train journey was a faff to be honest. Still, cheaper than driving I think.
The work was more than I expected physically but I do understand what needs to be done and why so getting that sorted this year is now on my radar. My preference is to wait until the summer to get the first stages done.
