The liquid iron also doesn't have the unfortunate side effects Cherry for me anyway.

I don't think they can as it's fallen across private land - or land that no one actually owns. It was originally going to be the access to this row of houses, which were built privately in the 1930s, but the road was never built. The tree was planted (sown as a seed?) by someone from one of these houses when the land on the other side of the lane was agricultural. It's since been developed as a housing estate and the boundary trees were left in situ. The person who planted it died a while ago. The part of the tree that's still standing is on the new estate but is in a little fenced-off bit where the bins stand. When it split and fell, it brought part of the fence down with it, and that's just been left where it fell. I've come to the conclusion that if we want it moved, we do it ourselves!

Actually, if our little chain saw could cope with it (maybe not?) it would be a very good source of firewood once dried. That's a shame as it's a mirabelle plum and very pretty, but we could really do with having the access again.

It's been a full-on day, started very woozily as DH was up with cramp last night, then kept asking for my phone to read up about it, till I said firmly ' Do you really need that?' Today he was repentant and I was very tired.

We both went to look after the children as he doesn't feel able to do full-on childcare at the moment, but the weather has been much nicer (around 15C) so we walked into town and I got some shopping while he took them to the library. We then met up with DD and her baby at the swing, after which DH went to the dentist and they refitted the broken crown for free.

DS1 took the afternoon off to enable DH and me to attend a meeting with DH's consultant and specialist nurse. This was useful and we have the options for his treatment which, in the short term, are to leave things alone and see whether his mental state improves once the medication is out of his system - which could take weeks. If the other condition flares, there are some other options, but my impression from the conversation is that they don't really expect DH to take the possible medications, given the adverse reactions he's had to date. There is then a surgical option, which would be discussed if things get bad. It may or may not come to that but overall I feel better that we've had this conversation and medically we aren't at a crisis and having to make a decision just yet. I think that may take a bit of pressure of DH too, which will help how he feels.

Dinner was some very nice sausages from the y/s shopping earlier in the day, then DH gave me a lift to work. Only two hours tonight but that's more than I usually do on a Tuesday. I must remember to send in my timesheets tomorrow and once again March has turned into April without me sorting out an ISA for the past tax year. Still, I now have a whole year to sort one out.

This morning, DH said he had had a terrible night's sleep. For most of my life, I've been the one complaining about lying awake, so I have given him a few hints, but amazingly he has coped at work and when he picked me up after my work, was in a positive mood.

I just couldn't get things done in the morning, probably because I had too much to do and was overwhelmed. Instead I spent a while rebuilding my city in an online game. By lunchtime, I knew I had to get down to something more constructive, so I put a load in the washing machine and made lemon curd cakes. I was going to the shops but there wasn't time for that with the other stuff so it never happened. That means I didn't use some money-off coupons but I can cope with that. After all, it means the money isn't spent!

I had a go at mowing the lawn but it's not been done since about September, so the poor mower really struggled. I was glad I'd hacked the tuftiest bits back with shears, as I could mow those! I will give it a few days and try again, in the hope that starting regular mowing will keep it under control.

Dinner was the remains of some tikka from the freezer, then a large spiced bread pudding to help use up eggs, almond milk and crusts of bread from the freezer. There's plenty of that left for another day, and also a bit of freezer space!

Work was just two hours as I had my church group this evening. Someone brought along a fresh fruit salad for the evening meeting: much healthier than the cheese and crackers I'd grabbed to eat while working, having run out of time to eat properly.

I realise I'm getting too tired and really need to do a bit less, but there's still more than enough to do for a few days!

DGD3 seems to have enjoyed her first birthday - celebrated by doing a 'Wainright'! DD sent photos of them all high up a mountain.
