Cute cross stitch would suck me in - but - I'd then end up donating rather than "doing" - I donated the last ones I had but I still think I might try again!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
I’m just the opposite - I enjoy doing craft projects but have no desire to keep or donate the finished item.As a friend remarked, it’s the process, not the outcome, that counts.

I must admit I see the cross stitch cuteness and find them tempting also

An interesting little development in the cross stitch temptation story: I found the one I was considering, still available from the retailer and a whole 10p difference from the V1nted price. When P&P is added, I wonder if I might actually be paying more? It's given me pause for thought.
This evening DH and I are feeling the effects of looking after three little girls over a couple of days. No matter that we had three children of our own, we are out of practice and, dare I say it, twice the age we were.
DH suddenly decided he felt up to driving to DD's which is what we did. It saved everyone quite a lot of time as DD would have had to come out to ours, drive back to the hairdresser, back to ours and then home, whereas we just had to go to hers and back. On the way we saw the boat that's crunched into a tree. DH had heard what happened so now I know too: it was on a trailer and the wind caught it so it veered off the road and came off worse in a collision with a roadside tree. I feel sorry for the owners, but I also wonder how long it will stay there.
It was lovely looking after the littlest grand child: at some points she realised Mummy wasn't there, but seemed okay with me as a substitute. It's been a while since anyone cried when I went out of the room! DH got us fish and chips for lunch - the local chippy there has won an award - and we went for a walk around the village afterwards. It's a pretty area on the edge of a town, but very windy and not so warm today.
DH had the benefit of an hour's talk about his health issues with DD afterwards: as he said, you would pay a lot of money to have her professional advice privately, or a long wait to have the free version, so we are very blessed and she was helpful as always. He's also rung a former pastor this evening, which really seems to have lifted his spirits. He told me he has agreed to have a different treatment which will start on Friday, as the current one is potentially the source of the new issues.
I have had two and a half hours at work this evening and remembered before going home that I had the 'free veg' coupon from Lidl to use tonight. We can't get through the large sacks of spuds so I got a smaller one but it still saved £2.23.
A nice thing happened while we were out this afternoon. A lady called out to me that I had amazing hair! Isn't that nice? I mean, 'amazing' could mean anything, so I'm hoping it was a compliment, but it's the second time this week that someone I didn't know has complimented it. I do think the combined effect of sun and wind may have added a dramatic element. 😂
Money stuff: broadband is going up by £4 a month. Fish, chips and mushies cost £14.30 but one portion was big enough for both of us, and L1dl came to £4.18.

I think amazing hair counts as a compliment and just shows how a positive comment from a stranger can make someone's day ☺️

Yes, what a lovely compliment.
I had a really back-handed one recently. Someone said, You’re quite cultured, aren’t you, underneath…..! I said, Underneath what…..?! Did make me chuckle.

That amused me too, @liselle ! Who was it who said they could live for months on a good compliment? I'm very grateful to the lady, whoever she was. It won't have been my style she noticed, as it's long and tied back, so perhaps the wind whipped it up to something interesting!
Today has been sunny and chilly again. It did a very good job of drying the washing. DH was using up another day of annual leave and was in better spirits after sleeping more. He looked up a side effect he remembered from previous medication, though, and found it's quite likely to happen with the one he'd agreed to for tomorrow, so he's withdrawn consent for that. The specialist nurse knows this so DH and I are both going to talk it through with the consultant next week. Surgery is looking increasingly likely, but that was always an option and we've had many years without it. However, I agree with DH that the side effects he's had from related medication are not something to agree to.
He's also had a helpful chat with a friend again today and a supportive text from our son in law. People are so nice!
I haven't spent anything today: I had two and a half hours work this afternoon - the funding for this continues to hang by a thread - and three hours at work this evening and once again I'm tired so I'll head off to bed soon.

I am having a morning of procrastination as I've been working on next term's rota and there are a couple of sticky points… I've come to the conclusion I need to go back to September and see what I was doing there. A third of the team are on two teams (older and younger children) and rather than overface them, the agreement is they are only used bi-monthly. Somehow they've all ended up on the same month and one of my stalwarts is away the whole of that month, so I just don't have enough people. If I go back to September, when there's a fresh start due to the August break, I might find where it went wrong. I might also have the whole thing to redo!
In the interests of useful displacement, I've done a bit of cleaning in the bathroom, put another load in the washing machine and done some skin care. Later today I need to pop into church for some cleaning and to check supplies for Sunday, so I want to have had a look at what those supplies might be - but the rota is pressing. I will be back to report on which one I opt for!
