I really should - mine has gone up so much since I started it. I'm chicken though: as it's something I don't do often, I'll have to remind myself what to do and risk being out of contact if it doesn't go smoothly.
I had a look at wi-fi extenders and they can be bought from about £15, so that's seems like a worthwhile investment. Our wi-fi is patchy in some areas (another thing to think of some time is changing providers).

That sounds like such a lovely family meal. Very special.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday: the Internet decided on a go-slow. It's all right today: no idea what was up.
Yesterday was a really nice day: warm and sunny and of course a Bank Holiday so we were both at home. (That's so nice after years of working a share of BHs). We took the hobby car for its first real run of the year, out to a cafe about ten miles away where, oddly enough, we bumped into DH's friend from work. We had our usual coffee and tea but that was accidentally my third coffee and knew that wasn't a good idea as soon as I could smell it, as I felt slightly anxious. It wasn't anything serious though and I was able to rationalise it.
On the way back we called at the shops and got some food bargains as well as some vitamins. Dinner was Shepherd's Pie to use up the lamb.
Today DH has had what seems to be a really bad reaction to the Vit B12 he started taking yesterday. Constant trips to the toilet and tingling hands - apparently these are recorded as possible reactions. He also had his appointment with the mental health nurse which he found very helpful though she and the GP have agreed to wait another two weeks before prescribing anything, in case his symptoms are caused by the medication he was on.
I've done quite a lot of the childcare, but that was nice. I don't mind being a pre-schooler for a few hours. We took them to the swings in the morning and played at home and in the garden after lunch. DGD2 caught her finger in the pram - no damage was done but it's a surprising cause: a hole in the frame just the size of a tiny finger. I suppose it's got a screw sunk in it, but the poor girl was stuck and panicking. Amazing what taking the weight of her arm, reassuring speech and lending Grandma's soft jacket does to solve things. Then later she clambered up in her bedroom and got down the bottle of baby painkiller! Good job the lid was properly on but I've warned her Dad about it.
Dinner tonight was fishcakes, cous cous, peas and sweetcorn - it needed to be something quick and easy though DH is recovering and trying to pack in the calories he's lost. I also discovered that the 15p bags of veg bought yesterday are both slightly dodgy so I've made spiced parsnip soup (concentrated as I have very limited cold storage) and will probably make carrot and ginger soup tomorrow. I was happy to get more onions as well, and they all seem to be good. There's also a very large batch of yogurt as I bought yellow-stickered 'posh' milk yesterday.

That age when children’s active curiosity kicks in without the sense of danger is a testing one. I feel like we’ve just come out of that phase with our youngest one but he still surprises us at times! Well done for surviving both incidents.
My cheap potatoes have been really disappointing. They look great on the outside but are full of bad bits inside. The veg has been much appreciated though.1 -
One of my kids got hold of a bottle of C4lpol that you would have thought was well out of his reach, and the lid wasn't secured so DD caught him taking a swig! The hospital had to give him charcoal to absorb it as we didn't know how much he'd had. It taught me how easy it is for children to get into things.
Above child is now a nurse… probably not thanks to that incident.
DH is still unwell this morning but has gone into work. It's hard to know what to do for the best when both sets of specialists are waiting to see what developments will happen. He really wants to keep working, and in some ways that would be better if WFH, but he much prefers the office and enjoys the company and being able to work alongside the team, so WFH would lose those major things.
This morning is lovely weather agin and I ought to get out of doors. I've a dental check-up later but for now I've paid off my credit card and gone through the statement. Three persistent payments to note so I need to make some decisions:
- Pr1me - now cancelled. I get to use what I've paid for till 3rd May, but I don't use it much, and then only if I need several things over a short time, so it's not worth it for me.
- A subscription to a teacher's resource (£14.99 a month). I didn't need it for ages but now use it for resources for the class I help in as well as some things for the pre-school class I do on Sunday mornings. In theory I could think ahead and download various bits, then cancel.
- M1crosoft 360 - do I really need it? I'm not sure what I'd lose if I cancelled and it's around £85 p.a. I probably need to look it up as there are features I undoubtedly use but I may be able to get free versions or change the plan I'm on. It's so easy just to let it roll over!
I also need to look at installing the wi-fi extender.
