I sort of managed my run: I've taken myself back to the beginning of week 3 of C25K, as I've not done any regular runs for a while. The actual running was okay but the field I like to run round has recently been ploughed and planted with winter wheat, and the farmer has taken it very close to the hedge. On the first side of the field it goes down to a narrow track, which disappears half way up the second side, meaning I had to take the little bridge that is definitely not run-able. There's a mud patch on one side and a broken down set of steps on the other: not safe really. I don't know if it's a right of way, but it's certainly not being maintained. Then the top edge of the field was fine, but the path is totally gone from the final side, meaning I had to return the way I'd come. By this time I'd finished today's program so I stopped to collect some little apples from under the hedge. They smelled delicious but I've not tried any yet. I did note the sloes in the hedge are plenteous but I'll wait till after there's been a frost before I gather any.
Back at home, I realised it had taken me much longer than planned so I had a quick lunch (last of the chick pea tikka) and set off to meet my friend. My turn to buy coffees and a shared cake. It was nice catching up as we've not seen each other for a while and she's acquired another dog, who I'm looking forward to meeting.
On the way home I collected two parcels: the shoes I've ordered for the wedding and some for after the formal part of the day. I've not opened either yet, I'll get a better idea of whether they are suitable by the light of day. I then went to L!dl and noticed a toy that DD had taken note of for baby A, so I bought that along with my groceries. That's pushed my L1dl spend for the month over the £50, so I have a week to choose a free vegetable. As we are only a little way into the bag of spuds, I might get sweet potatoes this time around.
DH wasn't feeling well so I cooked tea (tuna pasta). He even stayed home from his evening group in case he's infectious: he's wondering if it's covid. I'm back in the spare bed tonight, just in case, though if I'm going to catch anything, I'm probably brewing it already. At least in separate rooms we won't disturb each other's sleep.
My Fitbit is talking to my phone but the screen is blank all the time now, so I've enquired about the one I saw online. I also bought a suitable bag (from Vinted again) but got a message that the vendor can't post it till Monday, so I just might not get it in time for the wedding.
A friend gave me a lift to my church group this evening: we were three people short but there was a feeling of getting back into the swing of things after the summer. So many people are holidaying in September/October now that it's been hard to get back into routine.

I finally found one for each outfit so my autumn formal wear is now set - hooray!

I've been looking on Vinted but am a little nervous in case things don't fit and I have to re-sell. That happened with the last dress I bought on there.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
That's great - 'What to wear?' takes a disproportionate amount of brain space.rtandon27 said:Fingers crossed the bag arrives in time!

Exactly where I am with the lovely jacket that didn't come true (beautiful but colour and fit were wrong). I have come across two things I'd advise people selling on Vinted: photograph in natural light, and include leg length on trousers.Watty1 said:

I'm pleased to report the burgundy shoes are great with the dress, though I will need a couple of sticking plasters to protect my feet. The pink shoes are slightly large so I'm not sure what to do there. That make usually fits in that size. They are strappy, sandal-style so would be difficult but maybe not impossible to pad out.
DH seems better after a good night's sleep and has gone into work. I'm all up and dressed and have taken the green wheelie bin to the collection point, (it was nearly full), but had to spend a while searching for some keys so my plan to help with the toddler group has once again been scuppered.
Today I really ought to push ahead with a few things:
online training for work
get my work laptop unlocked
text next Sunday's children's leader to see if they want anything prepared
Cook the big pan of mixed beans that I'm currently soaking
Think about making some tea breadI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It's still a grey day, and a bit chilly. I've a load of laundry on the line but it's scarcely stirring so I doubt it will get dry. I'm back in cold-season mode where I give a boost spin cycle to reduce drying time.
There are a couple of pairs of grimy socks soaking in stain remover, the pan of beans has finished soaking and had its fast boil so is now simmering, the fruit is soaking in tea for the tea bread, Vinted have let me know I have parcels to pick up, and I've had baked potato with beans and cheese for lunch.
I've another hour before work so I'm going to do the rest of the hand washing and nip to T3sco for my parcels. Both are 'treat' items that I favourited and hankered over before succumbing, but there's still that online shopping gamble about whether they are as right in real life.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Friday was DH's day off so we went for our weekly coffee to the place that does the best beverages. Mine was a pumpkin latte, which was delicious. We spent the time talking through a few things that we need to know for the wedding we're attending next weekend, and having those sorted is a relief. We have an early check in at the hotel so we can get changed and have lunch. Most of the family is staying at the same place and J and L have asked to get changed in our room as they are coming a different route and, I think, going home the same night. It particularly worried me that we were going to have to find lunch somewhere till it occurred to me that we can eat at the hotel and, with that sorted, I feel much better. (We are staying with Auntie the night before so we can't easily do a picnic). DH has been to get a wedding card and we are giving money, so that's sorted too.
I've tried on the Vinted items that I collected yesterday: the summer trousers are beautiful but unfortunately the dress, while good quality, doesn't really work on me and the vendor doesn't take returns, so I will need to sell or donate. I'll just add that to the small pile of jackets and possibly one of the pairs of shoes that's recently accumulated! I've also ordered a shirt for DH (three of his formal shirts have recently developed holes!) and a replacement Fitbit for me. I was going to go for an unbranded one but the model I'm used to is now going for under £10. The super-cheap one I had in mind was sold so I've gone for the same model in a different colour. (£13.59 including postage). Oddly, my old one is still working a bit: it buzzes to tell me when I've done 10,000 steps and is talking to my phone, but the display really doesn't like to work anymore.
I've also made a couple of small loaves of tea bread: I just fancied some after a friend brought something similar along to Wednesday's meeting. I also used N ancy B1rtwhistle's method for cheap muscovado sugar, and it worked very well: I was using Imperial measures and mixed 1 oz of slightly warmed treacle into 7 oz white sugar. It didn't fully incorporate till I added the egg. The fruit had been soaking in tea since yesterday and the long steeping paid off. It's very sweet and I can only eat so much at once but it's yummy!
And it must be Autumn: we have the first mouse of the season! Cheeky little thing - it's running about the house! I've set the humane trap, baited with fruit and nut chocolate, but it's not found it yet.
Expenditure:
Clothing £13.59
Fitbit £13.59
Entertainment £12.10 (DH had a cinnamon bun with his pot of tea)
Gifts (we are seeing family so Christmas for relatives at a distance is being sorted in the most expedient way - in the car park before or after the wedding, or at breakfast the next day!) £56.14
Housekeeping £7.22

The past few FitBits I’ve had start doing the fading screen thing before they stop working altogether so probably best to replace sooner rather than later. I gave up with them eventually and treated myself to an 🍎 watch.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
