I think it's not uncommon for grapefruit to interact with medications. I can't take it as I'm on Statins, and DH couldn't have it with some medication he was on over the summer, but interestingly he's not on any meds at present. Just possibly overdosing on grapefruit!WelshmansDaughter said:Both my parents couldn't eat grapefruit due to some medication they were taking.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. An extra childcare session today as H had a course. The girls came to me (DH was at work) and we had a lovely afternoon, though I had to dissuade them from eating dried beans, using marker pens and various other hazards that sneaked up on me. We didn't get out of the house despite my planning, but had a good time cosily indoors. N has learned to eat with chopsticks. I don't know why but she really took to the idea. Her technique needs refining, but she managed most of a bowl of pasta with them!
I also have a hastily-cleared dining table as they decided that's where they wanted to eat.
We also fulfilled N's wish to see upstairs in our house - normally that's off bounds as things get stashed there and it's certainly not child proofed, but this time I decided the spare room, which used to be her Dad's, was okay. I keep art materials there so they did some drawing, stickers and stamps (floor got an extra clean as brown stamped angels aren't the look I was going for). Then we read some books and watched N's favourites on my Instagram, followed by classical ballet on YouTube. I don't know how she got from one to the other, but she was captivated by the ballet and kept choosing very stereotypical tutu videos. I'm a fan myself so I was happy with this.
DH and A arrived about the same time so I handed the girls back and DH gave me a lift to work. Only two hours tonight due to timings for the children, but that's okay.
DH isn't so well again today: his condition is playing up. Then I got swollen glands which I put down to a reaction to the flu jab, but am now thinking could be the start of a cold.
I'd like to say 'nothing spent', but I have been thinking about a casual dress I spotted on Vinted so I nabbed it before someone else did, then an hour or so later, the price of some summer trousers was reduced and I've been watching them for some days so I pounced on those too. That might be a silly buy (though very cheap) as there will be a limited number of occasions where I can wear those, but I loved the pattern. Total spend about £12 but I can't be sure as I don't remember what the postage was.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Might need to, it's tricky keeping track of deliveries that seem to be scattered round as many collection points as possible, and then there's cost and storage. I also need to build in a little opportunity to return or sell items I decide against.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

We had the most hilarious experience today, though it could have been very inconvenient. We were shopping in the supermarket and had the girls with us in the buggy. The older one took charge of the scanner - she's three and understands about pointing it at the barcode, and we can tell from the bleep that she's recorded it.
So we picked up eight items, scanned them and headed for the checkout. I'd seen her pressing buttons which probably got through to my subconscious, but I do a head count of items before I pay and see that it tallies with what's in the basket (or in this case, in the carrier bag).
The first item on the scanner, I noticed, had six items instead of one. So did the second. Obviously DGD had been pressing the button that changes the number of any given item! I deleted the extras then scanned down the list. The final total at that point was £93!!! We only had eight items. Looking further down, she'd added 15 packs of salmon, 9 packs of crispbreads, etc.
It took a few minutes to get the scanner back to the right number and pay - not £93 but £8.74 - and then the till selected our shopping for one of those so-called random staff checks, presumably because it didn't trust me after I'd reduced the amount by so much.
The original total will have been more like £100, but I'd deleted about a dozen before I looked to the end pf the receipt.
Yes, I will let her scan items again - it's all building skills - but I will be very sure to check my totals and when she's old enough, give her a little talk on what those buttons actually do and why you need to ask a grown up before you press them!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. As for the rest of yesterday: DH wasn't feeling 100% so we both did the full day instead of my joining him part way through. That meant we took the children to toddler club then to the swings where as usual we net a few people we knew. It wasn't warm though so people didn't stay long.
After that we popped into a charity shop where I spent £1 each on books for the children (something the size of a Ladybird book seems to be best for reading in the buggy as the pages don't flop onto the adjacent child) and a vintage ladle for my sister. That was followed by the supermarket visit (I resisted pastries but succumbed to custard creams, which were only 30p).
In the afternoon DD called round with her baby, then DH took the middle child out for a walk as she hadn't slept and was clearly shattered. It was all rather tiring for them though DD only stays till about 3. The baby is benefitting from different people and toys but yes, rather tiring. By four o'clock we put the TV on and relax!
H is having a cull of plant pot holders so I chose a couple and N saw a tiny one with bees on that she has claimed so so can sow a seed in it.
DH and I were quite tired by home time. He's still recovering form whatever he had last week and is a bit wheezy, plus his condition is unsettled. However, he doesn't seem to be managing it well and I'm less anxious not that I can see it's something that isn't necessarily going to lead to an immediate crisis. My potential cold didn't turn into anything so I suppose it was just a consequence of the flu vaccine, and a lot better than having flu itself.

Today is grey and fairly still so I need to push myself to get moving. I've done a warm up video so I can go for a run - poor neglected running which gets harder to start as it gets colder, though in fact it's easier for me to run when I don't heat up too much.
A few Vinted parcels need to be collected, and I'm meeting my friend for coffee this afternoon. My Fitbit has also been showing me a blank screen for a couple of days but I discovered the same model on Vinted for a nominal amount so I'm going to get that one - most of them are too big for my wrist so this is a least-hassle replacement, even if it doesn't last years. For what is being asked, it will be cost effective.
I've also got to look for a bag to use with the wedding outfit.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
