@Cherryfudge - the dress shoes I'm wearing for the occasions are actually an older style - the H0tter Donna in a wide fit, which remarkably don't look wide or are as round toed as they appear in the pictures!  The curent similar style is called Waltz - both have a decidedly 40's to 50's look about them - one of my two dresses is very 50's - the other quite 60's but they are dressy enough to look the part with both!

ETA - you've reminded me that the 50's dress needs a different bra to my everyday ones, I'll have to fish it out of the vacuum storage - fingers crossed it still fits, I've only worn it once!

Thanks for this @rtandon27, well worth knowing! I've been looking after the children today so no progress made on shoes, apart from deciding that if the white pair is still in the charity shop tomorrow, I'm getting them to go with summer dresses.

As mentioned above, it's been a child care day. DH is feeling well so he took them for the first part of the morning and I joined them about half past eleven. It was raining so they didn't linger at the swings, just went home. I was lagging a bit as I did nearly 19,000 steps yesterday and my legs didn't see why they should have to do more!

It was a good day with the girls: the rain didn't last so we had a short trip down the road with the scooter and balance bike (N then wanted to pretend-drive our car and F was desperate to join her which wouldn't have worked so I took her on a little local walk to see the pumpkins, spiders and 'ghosties' adorning local houses. Despite it being the secong half of October she shed her coat and jumper and walked home in a vest! Then we played out in the garden (for which she dressed again but N was happy in short sleeves): we found the water squirters so I came off slightly the worse for that! DH had a meeting so I did a share of solo-caring. We did manage other activities but it was pretty much a TV sandwich. I also gave them each a little bit of the tea bread I made the other day, explaining it was miniscule because it's so sugary, and they got that.

My 'new' Fitbit and DH's 'new' shirt have arrived and we're happy with both. I've managed to set the Fitbit up and I'll give it 24hours to see how the battery is before I leave feedback. I have my eye on a pair of leather straps for it too as I don't much like the standard one it's come with. That's a lot cheaper than the ones I've bought in the past.

Auntie has decided that we are to collect her on Saturday morning instead of staying over with her the night before. That's a pressure the less - though I've to cope with an early start on Saturday. However, own food, own environment etc. is more relaxing than staying over.

Tonight was supposed to be my course but between illness and other engagements only a couple of us could have attended, so it's been postponed till the week after next. Must remember to update my mentor about this.

    Nothing spent today.

The big news of Wednesday is: Cherry has shoes for the wedding! Yes, I went back to the charity shop to see if they still had the summer shoes I'd tried the other day, and they did. What's more, they are still super-comfortable. Then I noticed some black heels in my size and guess what? They fit! They are wide fit (F0otglove, like the lovely burgundy ones that hurt) but the pressure is off the affected joint on one foot and is less on the other one.

So I actually have two more pairs of soes, and the most patient husband anywhere, as he's talked me through it and actually got me to the point where I'd have worn my only pair of black shoes, which are Sk3chers and not really 'wedding-y'. And then went to the shop with me in case I had more choices to make.

Of course, black heels are more versatile than maroon ones, so I'm hoping to get more use out of them: they look good with jeans too, which is handy. Or footy?

It's also shown me I have lots of shoes which I don't wear because they don't really fit, so I need to find a bag and throw them all in before I decide to keep any!

So that turned a discontented day around: before that I'd been struggling through lots of messaging, needing to wash my hair and trying unsuccessfully to work out whether the clocks going back will mean more sleep or less.

I've also washed a coat that's been unworn for at least twenty years. It was my most expensive purchase just after we got married - over £100 in the sales back when we lived in Manchester. DD was showing me a picture of her as a baby being held by me in that coat and I mentioned that I still have it but ought to pass it on as I never wear it. She exclaimed 'But I love that coat!', so I hurriedly donated it to her! Now it's washed and ready to go.

There was also a load of ordinary laundry, now dried and ironed and just airing ready to put away.

DH encouraged me to fit in a run, which I managed between showers. I'm at the end of week 3 of C25K, and am hoping to being week 4 (again) on Friday. At this stage it's not strenuous but I'm aware I need to take the program at the pace intended rather than push myself too far and risk damage. It's nice though: I can feel my body remembering what's expected of it from years ago and I feel fitter. Just proceeding with caution though!

DH made tuna pasta for dinner, then we went to a business meeting at church.

In other news, Mouse Two has been captured and relocated. Also I tried the new mascara and am very happy with it.

    Expenditure:
Housekeeping £20.50 (Including me using coupons at L1dl for 15% off some items and my free vegetable which is sweet potatoes, as the big bag of last month's free potatoes is still half full)
    Library fine £3
Clothing £14.90 (DH and I couldn't decide whether the hand written label on the shoes was £4.95 or £9.95 but I bought them anyway and was charged £4.95. The other pair was £9.95).

Lunchtime - there was never a real plan for today but I've finished up the mixed bean casserole and had a slice of tea bread.

The weather is supposed to be horrible but it's passed us by. I'm not complaining. I've sorted through DH's chest of drawers and put various items in to wash: they will at least partly dry on the line. I've packed the drawers neatly and labelled them, it's a shame I can't keep the rest of everything as nicely as I can keep a drawer or shelf.

I've a prescription to collect and lots of household jobs that need attention, and I'm in work at five.
