I bought a very inexpensive wool wrap dress for funerals. It will do must seasons and i can change shape with it (I look awful in black so i will only use this for funerals and can always wear a grey polo underneath for a better visual / keep warm).

I'm not entirely sure black is needed at funerals anymore but it seems respectful to the older generations who may prefer it.

Thank you for your answers. I saw people worrying about what to wear on many sites and really couldn't understand it. I guess it is me and the way I wear clothes almost forever. There are family pictures of me wearing the same red cardigan over the last 19 years and my father wearing it for at least twenty years before that (I inherited it). I am wearing the same top in multiple pictures over the years. My whole family is the same way. I just never thought about wearing something different for weddings and was really surprised by the request not to wear certain colors at the wedding.

Hope you have a great time at the wedding and can relax.

Thanks @weenancyinAmerica, I appreciate people who get the wear out of clothes rather than discarding and getting through more than we need. When people look back at your photos, I expect they will say 'And that's Nancy, I remember that red cardigan. Yes, it was a favourite of hers', and so it becomes part of your story.

In fact I'm quite the clothes addict: I love buying new-to-me, rarely buy actually new, have far too many,  - and wear the same things day in, day out for years! I mend and mend again so things take a long time to wear out. I'm really not good with formal clothes, though - so that's why the three jackets won't be keepers! One is eligible for return so perhaps I could get that done this afternoon.

The bag isn't quite the same shade as the coat or the wrap, but I'm going to use it anyway. I really like the look of it, though I'd hoped to use one I already had - but nothing matched and for everyday I either have a capacious bag or stick a carrier bag and my phone in my pocket, neither of which works for a wedding.

Today is beautifully sunny and I'm planning a run later. DH has the day off, as originally we were going to travel today. He's out getting a print of the latest baby photo for Auntie. At some point we need to pack for the weekend though we should be back sometime on Sunday afternoon.

@Cherryfudge - I'm with you on the new-to-me cloths!  I love switching it up seasonally, even if it's just accessories.  I used to love a good bay-of-e trawl prior to the V1inted app - so far that app and I just don't get along!  - I do have regular cloths swaps with friends though - we also do make-up and perfume swaps of products we've not used.  I got rid of a whole bunch of posh mascara's that way which unfortunately were not waterproof as well as several posh lipsticks that were not in my colours, instead becoming the proud owner of 30 miniatures of my my favorite perfume.  I decant these into a purse sprayer a bottle at a time which comes in handy for the afternoon refresh at the office!

As for clothes that I've had absolutely forever? - My favorite is a nordic sweater from across the pond which must be 25 years old - it's getting thin after all these years, but I do love to layer it for casual wear on the weekends!  Oh and the silk scarf I nicked from my Mom as a teenager and never made it back into her closet!  It was a gift to her from an Aunty who has since passed away and I conveniently forget to return it to Mom each and every time I go back across the pond for a visit!  It's not even Mom's colours so I think it's better off with me!

I like the idea of the swaps, @rtandon27. 30 miniature bottles of perfume is a win!

So I went for a run and am now on week 4, run one of C25K. I didn't get warm for the first fifteen minutes or so as there was a cold wind, but I knew I'd warm up eventually, and I did. I've also given my hair a trim, washed it, done some skin care, shaved my legs... all the stuff I feel is essential to go to watch someone else's big day! :D

Work was three hours: quite hard work as it's a big area - the same place I've been working earlier this week - and normally I'd have found time today to do more on the offices but I was asked to do a couple of specific areas so the offices will have to wait. The regular person will be back next week but I have been given all the shifts I offered to do, I just don't know where I will be working.

We are going to be up early tomorrow as we need to collect Auntie then get to the hotel, have lunch and get changed. See you on the other side! :D
