Saturday was mostly about DH being unwell with a bit of a temperature and a hacking cough. We went out to the really nice coffee place out of town and shared a g/f, vegan chocolate and ginger cake. Plenty of flavour though a bit dry. This particular place has a good choice of non-standard edibles and I love trying things out. DH had his Earl Grey and I had a chocolate and ginger tea which was a good change from the usual. We went through the photos from last week's wedding so I've deleted a few but now have to upload some for the happy couple.
We were going for a short walk after but DH was coughing so much that we called that part off after a few yards.
Back at home DH had a bath for the steam and some co-codamol, which practically knocked him out. Meanwhile we had a reply to our request for present suggestions for little F, and I went to Lidl to get them straight away as stocks were getting low. With some groceries, that's tipped my spending into the free 'sweet treat' zone already. I then headed to T3sco where there's a pharmacy, and got cough medicine and throat sweets. I do like shopping after dark - is that odd?
DH didn't sleep for quite a while as the co-codamol made him nauseous, but then he suddenly dropped off and all was quiet. I stayed up till two, writing out the agenda for the team meeting while my head was clear.
This morning DH gave me a lift to church but stayed home and watched online. He seems considerably better but activity and speaking set off the cough, and I thought he might be better avoiding cold air. However, it's been a nice day and he went out later to avoid cabin fever.
I held the team meeting after the service while most people are available, and it all seemed to go well.
I walked home, by which time the day had warmed up, and we had more of the tikka for our main meal. Once that had gone down (we're talking late afternoon by now), I went for a run. Considering I've not been for a week, it was great and I really enjoyed it. I even managed to time the run (week 4 run 3 of C25K) so I was walking by the time I passed a box of give-away apples. I brought home two, plus one I found in the road near a tree, in addition to the bag of discounted ones from the supermarket and the bulging carrier bag donated by a neighbour the day before. Yes, my husband loves apples!
I'm having fun reading four books I bought from the charity stall at the supermarket, and have just bought two 99p ones from Kindle.
So today (now yesterday) has been really good. I also had some photos from the friends who had invited me on the weekend away: it looks fun but not for me. I'm happy to see it at a distance and know they would have welcomed me. I also heard from my sister and we talked about a sewing machine of hers that's been at my house for years. She doesn't seem to want it back so I might try it out and if it still works, see what I can make it do. I would like to get more of a feel for actual sewing and my current machine is still a bit sticky despite E's work on it. And then I heard that some training my team needs will be available from next week, when I thought it could be ages yet. So those are all good things too.

Thank you both! I think he's on the mend. He's gone off to work this morning armed with a couple of packets of throat sweets. He will be answering the phone all day which isn't ideal but perhaps if he coughs a lot, he'll get transferred to emails. He did a Covid test on Saturday and it was negative, and my judgement is that he's improving and it may have been a separate infection from the one he had a few weeks ago.Watty1 said:Echoing hope DH feels better soon too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. I forgot to mention that after my run yesterday, I did a tiny bit in the garden though discovering a tree root where a particular plant was meant to go will mean a rethink. I've also checked the community garden and they seem to have removed their give away shelves so I need to find another way to deal with the spare irises.
I also stacked a lot of the kindling into a bin (said bin had been dumped with the wheelie bin collection and was being ignored by one and all so I appropriated it after a couple of weeks) and DH has agreed it can go at the back of the garage to dry for a couple of years.
I need a plan for this week.
Monday: morning spent doing admin. Remember to pay cc! Pm - work
Tuesday: childcare. Possible meet with Tuesday group?
Wednesday: pm - work
Thursday: pm - work
Friday: F's birthday. Pm - work
Saturday: 7.50 lift to training half day.
Sunday: church.
Alongside this there are various housework and garden jobs and I want to finish something I started knitting years ago! Admin-wise, I need to confirm I want to stay on the allotment waiting list and book a room for next term's meetings.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The admin stuff is done (though there's plenty more I could be doing) and the cc is paid off. I am dreaming of allotments, or rather one, or even half a one as I have to be realistic about what I can handle. I will see if A and H and the girls want a share in it (even a corner!) once it comes. The others are too far away.
Today has been very mild, around 15 degrees, but quite gloomy with a yellow-cloud-behind-the-grey-cloud vibe. I've re-potted a sad orchid that was drowning due to overwatering and no drainage. What was I thinking of to let it get like that? I had a new bag of orchid compost in the shed (I don't really remember getting it but it looks too recent to have been inherited from Mum) and found a translucent pot to plant it in. The only other gardening job has been to bring in the last of the year's tomatoes to ripen.
I had two hours at work this evening and must remember to send in my timesheet. I've texted my friends to see if we can meet tomorrow, but no replies yet. They could be all socialised out after spending the weekend together.
And I have been buying... I'd favourited a work shirt for DS, but was waiting to see if the other one fitted him. It does, so this, same size and make, should do too. I have also got some nearly-new trainers to replace my everyday ones which, I admit, are tatty now. The new ones are same size and make so should be a safe buy. Total spend £29.34. Yes, there are still favourites on there...

What a good idea! One could have a virtual Vinted wardrobe that takes up no space (except head space) and costs nothing.
I think quite a few of us are virtual dream-property hunting through you.
