The moon has been beautiful these last couple of nights. Jane Eyre is on my "re-read" list. My book club had a long list of classics, but sadly it folded as book clubs often do. (Writing that made me think I might look to start another at some future point when I have some time free)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
I think the title is probably the best thing about Wide Sargasso Sea. I couldn’t get through it.
I’m reading a modern novel called Evenings and Weekends. It’s ok. Maybe I’ll set some time aside this weekend to lay in bed and read it. Free activity I guess.
Have you read Mrs Dalloway? I have not read much of it, only extracts but I have seen the film The Hours which is a great companion piece.35 NS&I

@Fortune_Smiles, thanks for popping in! I think I'm going to save Wide Sargasso Sea for a while and savour the magic of the original, but I may well wander into it one day.
@Watty, I think the trouble with really unputdownable books is that you have to be able to take chunk of life and set it aside and just read. How often does that happen? I did just that for one of the Harry Potter books: the family had to eat from the freezer till I'd read it all. It's a good job that I read fast when I'm engrossed. I don't think you will have much time for a book club in the near future, but this would be a great opportunity to start listing the books you will discuss when the time comes. What else is going in apart from Jane Eyre?
@itsthelittlethings, it's funny how the title affects the rest of the book so much, isn't it? It tempts us to read, or puts us off entirely - same goes the the cover illustration if there is one. I was haunted by 'Time without Clocks' until I read it - there again, the title is the best part.
I haven't read Mrs Dalloway, so I looked it up. I like the era so I will look out for it thanks!

Another day with the grandchildren: DH took them to playgroup in the morning and I joined them afterwards at the swings. I'd made them each a little picnic box of cheese and breadsticks but they neither of them wanted them! Good job I had also brought yogurt pouches, so they had some lunch on the way home.
We had a quiet afternoon: rather a lot of TV but they have been away all weekend and their sleep patterns were disrupted. Later in the day we went down to the garden centre to admire the Hallowe'en and Christmas decs, and I succumbed to £12 worth of plants. That garden centre isn't the cheapest but they are nice sturdy plants, and a Michaelmas Daisy was on my 'wanted' list. (I got two, and an eryngium). Then both girls fell asleep in the buggy on the short walk back. Thankfully I managed to get them awake not long after, because I don't want their parents to have difficulty tonight.
DH and I had the chickpea tikka for dinner again tonight and there's a lot left for other days.
I've spent the evening on my course. It went quite well and I feel a bit more in the swing of things again.
