Happy International Owl Awareness Day. I hope Duo of Duolingo fame doesn't get ideas, he's sometimes rather 'in your face' anyway. :D

Timesheets are done and submitted, coffee arranged, washing up done. It's windy still, but the sun is out and I really need to bestir myself.

Cold and windy here too, but with intermitenat rain & high humidity, it means my laundry is drying inside with the dehumidifier running as nothing was drying outside or in the summer house!

Oddly enough, it's not cold here, but it's still a tad breezy. I didn't dare put any washing in! The ash tree is showing off how supple it still is.

I've done the list apart from the ironing and cleaning the lounge (I did the bathroom instead). I also remembered to write up case notes from last week.

I am rather thrown by being out of routine with it being August. Not only did I forget what day I was supposed to be starting to water the plants, but I forgot the Tuesday group was supposed to meet on a Monday this week. I've said I'll work, so I've left the others to it.

I abandoned the idea of ordering the new glasses today. Too windy (that's my excuse). I'm also still havering over whether to return to distance vision only. I spend a lot of time without glasses on nowadays, if I'm on the computer or reading, so perhaps I don't really need near-vision lenses?

It's so nice and sunny that I did a bit of outdoor sorting: two bags of plant pots and ten disused hanging baskets are now stored in the garage, and a bag of apples has been composted. They had been forgotten in the shed and were very brown and squishy! I've also picked up 300g of greengages that the wind brought down. Many are nearly ripe so perhaps if I store them a few days, they could be used.

Still no sign of the weeding gadget.

A weeding gadget?  I shall want a full and detailed review :)  (Weeding being something I need to start to do regularly now).
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Something like this - if I ever find it I will let you know how effective it is! I'd imagine it comes into its own between paving stones or to hook out ground elder roots.

Our gardening ancestors invented lots of nifty things for getting weeds out, so depending on the situation, you might prefer something else. Google 'hand weeding tool' to get down that rabbit hole!

I've got one of those gadgets - it is brilliant for the paving stones and the crevices along the ede of the summer house & shed footings!  A non-chemical method of getting the weeds out!

I've one of those gadgets somewhere on the yard I think.  I use it for lifting the drain covers, never thought of weeding with it.   In fact wasn't really sure what it was :)

Obviously a multi-purpose tool, second only to the Swiss Army knife! :D Still haven't found mine, but that's because I've not looked today.

Another day looking after the grand daughters - it has to be the best day of the week. DH took them to the library, where I met up with them, then we went on to the swings. Both places were busy and we bumped into a few people we knew, particularly through toddler groups. In the afternoon we stayed at their house, played in the garden and did a craft bag that the library gave us.

The little one has suddenly started to come out with what sound like proper sentences: clear varied sounds and apparently purposeful, though what she means I'm not sure! Her sister explained that 'eens' are tangerines, but other than that I only recognised 'shoes' and 'clogs' among her new words.

On the way home we spent £19.46 in the supermarket (salmon with pasta and sauce for tea), and DH spent £3.65 on sewing machine oil for the new-to-us clock. He's explained to me that he now needs to get a special gadget to ease an overwound spring, so there will be another small expense.
