How lovely of someone to give you a break from Sunday refreshments.

On the itchy scalp, the only thing I've found so far that helps is e45 shampoo.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Your comment about the tear not being on your side made me laugh!  In our house, the tears are never on my side either.  I just don't understand how my OH can wear out/through good quality sheets as often as he does.  Perhaps it is because he is such a restless sleeper?
I think you've hit the nail on the head! DH has been getting leg cramps since he's been on this temporary medication, and the tear is exactly where his feet go! Perhaps I just need to make a massive patch to reinforce the area! :D

Still missing - it's got to be in the shed somewhere, but admittedly I've not looked for a few days. It would have been useful yesterday to try to hook out some bramble roots: they were well established.

I'm not officially on the rota apart from about once every three months, but it's good when you hear about people stepping up to help. Lots of people can't because they are either doing something else (the August break is designed to be just that: time off from regular rotas so we get to recharge), or they are physically unable or have children to keep an eye on. I don't like doing the set-up as you have so much coffee to prepare and it takes time and I haven't worked the dishwasher myself so am scared of being responsible for that (!) but the actual dishing out drinks is fun and companionable.

I'm thinking more about the itches! Last night I tried some of the aqueous cream on some of the itches and they've stopped itching, so, proceeding with caution, I'm thinking that might be the solution, but I'm nearly out of the cream. I will have a look for the E45 shampoo too: I think it would work the same way.

Today is cloudy and windy but the forecast is for hot weather from tomorrow. Tomorrow's also when our guest arrives, so today, after a very lazy morning, I need to get my act together to be guest-ready:

    • finish the ironing and put it all away
    • launder the new towels and sheets - but the sheets haven't arrived yet.
    • possibly carpet shampoo but we'll see how that goes.
    • tidy the guest room which still has items out of the emergency food cupboard!
    • Clean the bathroom
    • Do the dishes
    • Clean the kitchen and shove the washing machine back into its space (still out from DH doing the plumbing)
    • Put the fruit out nicely in bowls
    • Ignore the Boots recycling app
    • clean the fridge
    • Make a cake
    • Fit in a run

Watch where you get your aqueous cream from.  It is still almost 4 times as much from boots as I pay & it used to be 7 times.

Wow, that's worth knowing thanks. We have a few cheaper shops - I usually find Boots is expensive so I won't bother with that. I think the jar I'm just finishing cost £1.50 but that was on holiday a couple of years ago so I will have to fins another source.

Toenails. Men tend not to bother filing toenails smooth after cutting so they often have surprisingly sharp edges on them which cut through sock-toes and sheets like nothing on normal feet!!

Re the recycling app for Boots- we don’t bother. We just take a bag of blister packs in and even when the bin looks full we can usually feed the packs in, because most people just shove handfuls in, so if you feed one in, it will fit.
Nobody’s ever demanded to know why we’re not scanning anything or using the app :)

I think this is what will happen to the ones I put in. The main aim is to get them recycled, getting points or whatever is secondary as I rarely spend enough there to justify it. After all, I can get the same or equivalent elsewhere, and mostly cheaper.

The last four hours have been spent trying to engage with the list, and so far it's winning. Then we had a message asking if we could pick up a parcel that's been delivered at the wrong time to H's house: they are away and so is DH so there's a job for me if I can find time and energy. I don't want to leave it outside for anyone to find.

    The ironing is half done.
The new sheets and towels are now blowing on the line looking as white as any 1950s housewife could dream of.
    The carpet remains unshampooed.
The guest bedroom hasn't been touched.
The bathroom still needs a clean.
    The dishes are done.
    The kitchen is a mess.
Fruit bowls need a wash and refresh (we get through lots of fruit).
The Boots Recycling app is being ignored.
The lower half of the fridge is clean and I've spent some time chopping up and freezing an excess of peppers.
    No Cake.
    No run.

Meanwhile I've thrown out some rubbish from the shed and extracted the other bag of apples - just as sad as the previous lot, so those have gone on the compost too.
I need to get to the shops (possibly on the way home from collecting the parcel?) and buy chicken, cheese, crackers and milk for tomorrow. Also check if we have potatoes, and think about a dessert.
And to add to the kitchen and bathroom, the hall, dining room and lounge need attention.

I treated myself to a frothy coffee (first since last Sunday) but this hasn't solved the above.

Oh, and the greengage has started chucking fruit at the grass quite assertively and if we're no to lose it to the ravages of time, I'd better collect it up.

Meanwhile, I'm quite determined to get rid of one job, and the ironing is a quick win. Everywhere looks so cluttered that it's messing with my head, and it will be nice to have one thing tidied away.
