@Cherryfudge - the boots app is fairly easy if you are just using it for the card and the offers!  I check it once a week and load all the offers.  If you are trying to do an order on it - just don't!  - stick with the online site which though glitchy is not nearly as hopeless as the app! Frustratingly both make you log on at every use, sometimes multiple times! A perfect example of programming on the cheap!

It's the recycling bit of the app that's thrown me, @rtandon27. So complicated! You have to do photos of every blister pack, scan a QR code, show the make of every tube you recycle... goodness knows what else. And then you can only do so many items at once, which means it's not really worth my while to go out of my way to the shop, but I'd saved up blister packs to recycle and I really don't want to bin them.

I probably need to look at the offers but our Boots has been reduced in size due to some problem with the ceiling (!) so they are running on a small floor space and most of the things I want, I can get elsewhere.

How odd - Just had a look & I don't seem to have an option for recycling in mine!  I've seen the bins in our bigger local branch, but they are always overflowing so I've never stopped to inspect!  The miniscule branch doesn't even have room to swing a cat & barely holds three customers at a time, so there is no recycling there either!

We recycle our blister packs at the Superdrug - a zippy bag at a time, as they have a huge sign that says no bulk drop-offs!  Atm, we have a few bags of those in the boot of the car as we can never get rid of them as quickly as we accumulate them!

I think it's a separate app called 'Recycle at Boots' - a good idea but I shrink from having a further look as it was doing my head in. I don't think our Superdrug recycles: I like the stuff they sell but I tend to avoid going in as the radio is so loud (staff told me that was required but I don't know how accurate that is) and display lights can be very flicker-y. Perhaps it's just our local one.

Well, DH set off half an hour ago and so far I've put another load of washing on, eaten a cream egg from my stash (!) and DH helped me put duvet covers on before he went. The next job is to start looking for a flat sheet to replace the ripped fitted one that had to be held in place with elastic across a corner.

Re the itchy scalp.  Obviously may not be the same cause as the doctor thought mine was stress related.  She recommended shampooing with aqueous cream.  I've been doing it for over 20 years now & it does help me.  I blodge it on a couple of hours before & massage it in & then blodge more on instead of shampoo.  I tend to be careful with conditioner too.  The one I am using was given to me & I am only a quarter of the way through but I think it will be in the bin very shortly.  Such a waste.

I had never thought of using aqueous cream - but I know it can be used to wash hands, so why not hair? I do have very dry skin so it will probably ease that, and in fact it could be that my current shampoo is a bit harsh, which might cause the itching. I'll give it a go, thanks.

I have to be very careful with conditioner: I use plenty but nowhere near the scalp or I just itch!

Some charity shops will allow toiletries donations, so you may be able to get away without binning the conditioner.

Our local food bank accepts toiletry donations & they will even pick up if you are in town - they do a pickup route once a week. So a quick call to them might yield a result and then no waste!

Time to slow down for the night, though some of the ironing is still not down, the fridge isn't cleaned and the Boots (recycling) app remains daunting.

    Here's the list again:
    • work out how to use the Boots app - never seen anything so complicated, or is that just me?
    • offer to help with teas and coffees on Sunday as they had no one last time I heard. Hoping they have someone now, but I can still help and it's always fun when you actually get down to the job and stop fretting about how to fill the coffee flasks.
    • Clean fridge.
    • Ironing.
    • Change bedding (got a tear in the sheet so...)
    • order a replacement sheet (not cheap because we like the lovely ones)
    • do another half hour of gardening.

Someone had offered to do the refreshments on Sunday, so I needn't. The bed is made up (tear is almost invisible and not on my side so I'm not worrying about it: new sheets are ordered and should arrive tomorrow.

I found what I wanted for bedding in the Big River Company and wouldn't you know it, there was a week's Pr1me for 99p, so that's all I've paid in postage. :) I also looked for guest towels but was spoilt for choice so ended up getting some from Arg0s locally. I've not gone higher-end for either but went with reviews for something that I think should last long enough and be nice enough.

Two hot washes have been done, and also my winter coat. With the ironing, as far as I got, there's a lot to put away.

The half an hour of gardening turned into around an hour and twenty minutes. Quite a bit of this was getting bramble roots out right next to the back door. In the end I had to use the loppers on one: I hope I've not strained them. There are still fragments of plastic showing up in that soil, and bits of mortar, and I'm laboriously picking these out and binning them. I've now mulched that initial square metre with cardboard, put the potato bags and plant pots back on top and spread retrieved gravel on the rescued bit of path.

All the top growth on the garlic I planted in April had died back completely so, as there's nothing to lose, I've dug them up. Nine of the original 10 have grown and of those, about three have multiplied into more than one clove. Considering I did almost nothing by the book, I'm happy with that. They can be eaten now!

    Expenditure:
    Diesel £15.74
    Gift £6.10
    Toiletries £2
    Pets £2
Housekeeping £11.27 (plus a free pastry which was terribly more-ish).
    Household £40.33
