Haha - IRL I'd say God too, but I've learned the hard way that the word Universe causes less offence so its now a habit!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!1

I'm not sure it matters, I think it is part of the universal energy - a lovely friend of mine calls it "grace" which I think is nice.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
I think it depends whether one believes there is a person involved - but I think people here have an idea where I stand. For all I know there may be some who chose not to read because they don't like the fact I mention my faith, but it would be hard to keep a diary without doing so.
But we all have our own take on things and I try to respect those of other beliefs or none, and sometimes I learn from them.
Today: no running: I had a quiet morning while DH went out and bought an old clock at a charity shop. 1920s or a bit later, I think. It was sold as seen, so the timekeeping could be interesting, but it has a most beautiful chime.
We set off just before lunchtime to meet up with J, L, baby A and L's parents up in the Dales, where we got coffee and cake. Glorious drive through lovely country. Then we all went on to Sedburgh, where they will be staying, and went for a walk before L cooked dinner for us all. Then there was the beautiful drive home.
L's parents were dog sitting so I have a new friend.

We had heavy rain overnight and this morning the air felt very humid. I was tempted not to go to church but there was no livestream so it was go, or miss it altogether. During August the usual pattern is dropped: there's a worship session then a break for drinks and, in this case, biscuits or C4lypso lollies. At this point young families can go home if the children can't sit through the talk, but there are tables of activities to occupy the kids, so I saw a little girl from my group wearing what looked like a very competently-made chef's hat. I suspect Dad may have had a hand in that.
I made myself go and speak to a few people who were sitting near me while DH went to get some tea, and had three conversations, which I ended up enjoying very much. My difficulty is always remembering who I've talked to and what they said!
We popped to the supermarket for a couple of items afterwards, then DH made dinner (fish in batter, cous cous, veg.) I was determined not to get the customary after-Sunday-dinner cappuccino as I don't want to get back in the habit. Eventually I had it after tea, but yesterday's surfeit of chocolate, wheat and coffee, following a day with three lots of chocolate, has set off reflux so I need to try to cut back (though I had crumpets today as well as coffee - oops).
After dinner I came over tired and actually slept most of the afternoon: a shame as the weather was hot and sunny. Once I got up, though, we went for a run. Couch to 5k, week 4, run 2 for those familiar with it. It was on the warm side but not too hard. I used the balance challenge that @Sun_Addict recommended as most of my warm up, and, with a couple of runner's stretches, it did well. I then found the same person has one to reduce belly fat, so I used that to cool down, hoping for rapid results in my main problem area! I know that's just the wrong place to carry extra, health-wise, so a bit of targeted exercise might just nudge me in the right direction.
Other than that, no gardening apart from five minutes spent deadheading and a fruitless search for a weeding tool. I've read lots of an e-book I bought last night after writing here.

The plan for the week to come:
I forgot to water some plants as I'd offered to do but last night's rain did it for me. I do feel guilty so I will make a bit of time to go down during the week for the other day I'd offered to do. Tomorrow is set to be rain and high winds, so no point going then.
Monday: work. Contact optician re new glasses. If anyone has swapped from varifocals to standard long distance lenses, I'd be interested to know how it went. The optician tells me it's unlikely to succeed as people get used to good close-up vision. DH is working.
Tuesday: look after the grand children. If plans work out, have a walk and fish & chips with my friends from the Tuesday group. Might fit in a run before I see the children, if I'm organised and the weather is good (so, not likely).
Wednesday: day off from the Wednesday job but working in the evening. A possibly day to have coffee with one of my team (part of strategy to get to know them all properly: they are such nice people but I'm aware I'm not using their skills to maximum effect). DH is working again.
Thursday: DH is working, I don't think I'm doing anything apart from watering plants as I said I would. DH is working.
Friday: I've said I'd do some of the cleaning at church - mostly bins but if there's time I can hoover the heavy-traffic areas. I've discovered the team leader is on holiday so I will make a plan, assess objectively (! I hope) and not wear myself out. Feeding back on the problems can wait till she's home. DH is going to Auntie's for a few days then bringing her back here.
Saturday: day to myself!
Sunday: I can go to church in the morning then I expect DH and Auntie will arrive at lunch time.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I just went into the garden to bring in some cloths that were still pegged on the line and it's so still and mild. It seems incredible that in twelve hours' time there is forecast to be rain and winds over 40mph... then by the end of the afternoon, sunshine again. Very odd.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

In the last few years our weather patterns seem to have changed so much, here yesterday was so overcast that it seemed it would rain at any moment, but, so warm still that there clearly was not going to be rain.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

It's officially wet today, and the trees are tossing a bit. The younger greengage is literally forming a weeping shape from the weight of the fruit, so I'm hoping it won't be damaged. There are other trees to shelter it, and it only wants a week or so to finish ripening, so hold on, tree! I decided back in the spring that it needs a drastic pruning as we can't reach most of it, so that will happen in order to get the higher fruit - if it's not brought down in the wind.
Today's list:
feed houseplants
feed wild birds
ironing
timesheets
clean lounge
