You got a bargain on that dress, the WO ones wash well although they probably do need ironing if creases bother you.  I have several versions from them in the sale as my default 'too hot for trousers' dresses.

I'm feeling pretty smug about the dress, to be honest! Nearly left it but once I'd tried it on I could see why people were saying I should get it. So comfortable, and perfect for hot days. It's washed very well though it absolutely needed an iron afterwards.

The magenta version looks very good on the linen but the colour wouldn't work for me. I'm looking thoughtfully at the chocolate coloured one but already have something not dissimilar in that colour, so I doubt I'll be buying.

The storage box will replace the two cardboard boxes I use to store gifts. I'm not sure I'm going to fit everything in, but most bits go nicely and the room looks a bit more orderly.

We went for a run this afternoon - remind me I prefer to run before lunch, next time I try that. It was still good to do though.

DH has mown the grass, so we have a lawn again, not a brown wasteland or a tussocky scrap of uneven foliage, some percentage of which is grass.

Other than that, some of the ironing is done, most of the activity prep for tomorrow, likewise. Dinner was haddock, cous cous, peas and the first delicious cherry tomatoes from the hanging basket. I've washed my hair and am trying to think of things to hide in the sandpit for the children to find. So far I have a spoon, a crayon, a wooden block, a lego doll, a toy cup and a cookie cutter. No toy cars or teddies as I have to be able to get the sand out!

Sunday was a bit full-on to begin with. I was a bit later than I wanted to be, arriving to set up for the children's activity, and both my helpers today were Mums with little ones, so they had their hands full and couldn't be there to help. I spotted the new person on the cleaning team and realised I probably had enough time to fill her in on some things I'd arranged to show her afterwards, so that took ten minutes, after which I hared to the big toy storage upstairs for an accessory I wanted for the activities, and then down to the basement to set up.

It all got done in time, but I couldn't get a decent connection speed online to use the new registration system, so I had to do it manually. Then there were only two of the usual children, plus a little girl I'd not met before and a visitor with her mum. That's two more children and a mum to get to know, two who I can't check in electronically and so have to ask the usual questions about illnesses and allergies, two who don't know the ropes... Thankfully nothing more came up and the helpers were both on message, which is just as well as only one of the children was! I might as well not have done the story for three of them! However, I had some 'finding' activities for them (supposed to show them a bit about how someone without sight might experience the world) and a sticking and colouring faces activity, and both of those were semi-successful, as was getting the sandpit out at the end.

It was one of my least successful attempts at story telling, though. I need to get hold of some of my pre-school qualified friends and ask them how I should have handled it!

Then I still had the register to complete and even at home I couldn't get a decent signal, and couldn't find the procedure when I tried to do it on laptop. Thankfully someone else has now done it for me.

Back at home, DH had put chicken in the slow cooker with herbs so we had a chicken dinner - delicious. There's enough for a couple more days. He went on a walk and I fell asleep till late afternoon, after which I spent about 45 minutes fighting the weeds that are growing apace after the rain.

Nothing spent today - I've sent a query to the company whose free trial of computer cleaner is confusing me. I took them up on the 60 day version, only to find I have that and the 30 day version, which has now started to charge me. I went into the program to cancel and found it's crediting me with 23 days remaining, so why am I paying, and how do I get a refund? Wait for tomorrow's exciting episode...

Another odd thing: we paid for a few days away using my credit card, and have the receipt, but nothing is showing on my account. Perhaps they only take the money out once the cancellation period has elapsed?

DH checked the house insurance, which expires imminently, and if we stay with the same company, we save 19p on last year's price. DH said he'd buy me a ring with the saved money, but it might be a Hula Hoop. Last of the romantics, evidently.

    Plan for the coming week:
Monday: optician, work. Hope also to fit in a  run and a visit to the shop that was selling off plants!
    Tuesday: Childcare.
Wednesday: Wednesday job in the morning - seeing two clients possibly? Church activity in the evening.
    Thursday: Work
    Friday: Work.
Saturday: spending the day travelling and seeing J, L, baby, dog, and in laws. :)
    Sunday: nothing planned.

    You saved 10p - awesome - i saved 1p :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I doubt anyone sells part-packs and if they did, would I want them? :D

Just heard that one of the grand daughters has been sick overnight, and we're looking after her tomorrow... just for the afternoon as the other grandparents are there in the morning and it looks as though they may have whatever-it-is already. (I hear there's something going round). :(

As DH is vulnerable, I'm wondering about looking after the children on my own. It's only three hours and depending on the weather we could play in the garden or I could bring some more library books and read with them as well as the usual games. (Has to be more successful than yesterday's story telling with the group!)

Plan for this morning: find the other pair of reading glasses so I can ask the optician's opinion of them. Work out if I have time to fit in a run before my appointment and before the day warms up too much. Drink more fluids. Possibly get some anti-bac wipes just in case it looks like they might be needed tomorrow (I'm the biggest fan of good old-fashioned hand washing, a lesson learned during Covid as for so many of us, but sometimes you need to make life easier with toddlers around).

I might fit in a trip to the shop that was discounting plants, following my appointment, but I imagine they will have sold or disposed of what was left by now.

I managed all the list apart from the run: I did a bit of cleaning and tidying instead! We have tomorrow morning off, so perhaps we can both run then?

I got all the dud batteries and pens ready to recycle, but forgot to take them with me! I did remember to check in Boots and I can recycle blister packs there, and various other bits, but I need to install the app first.

The optician agreed my prescription has changed (for the better, said she, giving away her age) but advised I continue with varifocals because otherwise I will be continually frustrated at having to take my glasses off for nearby things! There's a new style of variation available which looks as though it would be a good fit for me. I was also advised that fitting new lenses to my current frames is about the same cost as getting new frames, so I had a look through what's available and I think I'm going to go for a pair that's nearly identical to the existing pair, but not scratched or worn. :)

The shop where I bought the plants had quite a lot at 49p but I couldn't see any freebies today. I wandered round getting other bits of shopping, so by the time I got home it was mid afternoon and I wanted my lunch (tuna and avocado on crackers). Then I came over sleepy so not much else has happened.
