Shop Charity Store in '24!

The Wife book looks amusant.

During Lockdowns 1 & 2 we decluttered into four storage bins and yesterday we went through the penultimate one. Rescued a carpet sweeper and a wine jug from the South of France, plus a Fenwick shoulder bag. The rest , books included, is going to a charity shop.

Hardback copy of How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff £2

And then, after a distinct lack of success in Cumbria and North Yorkshire on a mini break, Richmond came up trumps with a Joules navy and white striped pull on skirt for £6 and a copy of Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby VanPelt for £1.

I also found a Cornishware storage jar in mint condition in an antique and collectible shop in Leyburn for £25

The donations pile is building

Nice guess - I thought the camel was a whale (DH pointed out I could do a Jonah themed Sunday School on that basis, though I think ‘whale’ was a mis-translation there).

@Cherryfudge - I'd never have got the pig or the horse, just shows you how much difference the orientation and detail make. Thankyou for the recommendation for the cheese scones in the cookie book, very helpful to know so I've marked that page.

@Potternerd - some nice bits there and the cornishware is lovely isn't it.

I think scale makes a big difference and these were not only not to scale with each other but some of the animals are an odd shape: the giraffe looks like a professional strong man and the horse is definitely going uphill.

I can't remember what else I made in that book, if anything, but I think there was a good Christmas section.

I'm going into Southend to get my hair done tomorrow so I will look around the chazzers while I'm there.🤩

Possibly not the best day as we've got another day of rain scheduled! It would be worth dropping into the Salvation Army store behind the High Street, its always packed full of goodies and I am told is quite separate to the large store on the one-way system.

It always rains the day I book to get my hair done! So I walk out with a nice blow dry and then my hair immediately goes frizzy.

I popped my nose round the door of my favourite bhf shop this morning after spotting a copy of Scoff through the window and found this intriguing book about experiments in living on the shelf next to it. They were both £2. Then I found The Life Of Mammals which I had been planning to borrow from the library and for only £3.50. I also bought the dvd of Raymond Briggs Father Christmas for £1 because I so enjoyed the reading the books to my daughters so might find someone to pass it on to if it's as good as them. I also snapped up the cd for £2 to listen to when doing the washing-up as it's got some less well known songs on it.
