Me too - not at all the start I expected but so much like something I could write about the things I value: the books and tools handed down to me, the favourite mugs, the sound of the birds in the garden... very readable.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

"Stuffocation" worked for me only transiently, so I doubt "Less" will be more impactful. I think I have to accept I enjoy the thrill of the transaction (and bargain factor) just as much as I enjoy the item itself. You only live once and I'm not buying new - that is my way of rationalising it to myself, anyway! Conversely I also enjoy giving stuff away, usually on Gumtree or Olio.
Am away from home atm and not getting withdrawal symptoms...yet!

I was walking past the Age UK shop today so went in as it would have been rude not to and found an BNIB uv sanitiser for little bits like jewellery which I remember thinking would be useful when they were everywhere in the early days of Covid.
Then on the bookshelf I bought this mushroom book which will hopefully be useful and a copy of Moro East as it's inspired by what they grew on their allotment. Then I found a nicer version of the jacket I was already wearing IYSWIM. I was wearing a very thin Cotton Traders padded navy jacket and found a lovely lined Monsoon one in beautiful condition and a perfect fit so that came home with me too.
Books both £1.99, sanitiser £5.99 and jacket £12.99.7 -
First trip to Otley in a few weeks yesterday....came away with a pair of Cotton Traders jeans, as new, in a nice leafy green shade for £2.95 from the PDSA shop. TBH I am getting very disillusioned with the St Gemma's 99p shop which has really been my main reason for visiting. It used to be a busy but friendly experience even on delivery days when the goodies are put straight from the van onto the rails. Just lately tho it has become a selfish push/shove/grab and elbow everyone else out of the way event and that is just not my kind of behaviour! Clearly lots of new people are there openly to buy up stuff to put on re-selling sites. They even work in pairs to block other less aggressive people. It's all rather unpleasant so I fear my trips will be much less frequent now. Shame really cos it is a nice journey through the start of the Dales to get there8

@goldfinches
excellent mushroom book - we've got the same one!! bought new about 20 years back.
Very excited to have got freegled some sheet music. Local woman was clearing her mom's house and listed this saying some of it was random and some old and quite tatty. I made it clear I was after the tatty stuff to use in art work. I hate the idea of tearing a book apart so pleased that there's a large portion of a collection of scores (Mozart etc) chamber pieces. I don't think there's enough of any one piece to allow it to be played so I'll take a selection of the pages and pass the rest on to the local art group. Torn bits of music add a nice touch to a mix media painting where you glue the music to your paper and then paint over and around and add a suitable theme. I've got a piece I did some months back with birds and some music and was lucky enough to have a bit of the manuscript that said "opening chorus" which I thought was really appropriate. Rest of the bag is full of full sheet music for piano for a lot of 1960s & 70s popular stuff like Niilsonn's "Without You". I'm going to ask a musician friend if he wants any of that plus the unused lined music paper. Hopefully he'll take some off me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Brie clever you to snap up something so useful on freegle. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make with it. I should think your musician friend would want the unused music paper. I remember my father having a brass nib shaped like this one
and laboriously dipping it into the inkpot and carefully drawing stave after stave across the paper.
I was passing the bhf shop today so went in and found this Caroline Hirons book which still has the big river delivery notes inside it, so can't have been read at all, for just £2.50. Then I also found this organic cotton Sea Salt short sleeved top for £9 and a pair of M&S classic navy cotton trousers for £8.
I did also notice that instead of reducing the prices of things that had been out on hangers for several weeks by half the shop is now only reducing their price by 20%, has anybody else encountered this or is it confined to my local branch?"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

And turned out it was the freegler's dad that was the musician playing several instruments hence the wide variety of music styles available. Sounded like the freegler was doing a house clearance so I thought it polite to ask - she seems ever so grateful that someone has any interest in this at all so I feel like I've earned a small karma credit today.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I'd had a hard week at work so treated myself to a day off and went a bit chaz-wild yesterday!

I went to the car boot sale this morning and came away with a few bits:
- a nice capacious shoulder bag with pockets, 50p (make unknown),
- a set of Noah's ark biscuit cutters, £1
- a printout of reasons to buy fabric which made me laugh, 50p.
