I happened to be in Summertown yesterday returning various bits to the hospice shop and had half an hour or so to kill waiting for the person who could authorise the refund to come back from her lunch break and found this lovely scarf in the Scope shop for £3. It's 100% silk and catches the light beautifully, although I'm a bit worried about washing it and shall proceed very gingerly.
I also picked up this beautifully soft bright pink M&S t-shirt simply for the lovely feel of the thick cotton and the cheerful colour.
Apologies for the various plant trays, hormone rooting powder etc., I have several plants needing tlc due to the ravages of the slug and snail army currently infesting my allotment so they have been brought home with me for a little extra cosseting.

Good morning everyone, I love reading about your jaunts to the chazzers and seeing the pictures of your bargains! In fact, I'm going out for the day today with my two nieces and our little WhatsApp group is called The Chazettes!
I've never heard any of you mention 'yard sales' or 'village sales' - ae they not a thing where you live? Its where a whole village has the opportunity to set up a sales pitch on their front gardens and sell as if at a car boot sale. We have been lucky enough have had 3 within five miles over the last month - and have been blessed with good weather for them all.
Yesterday I got to the first garden and the lady must have had 50 pairs of shoes, mostly new in boxes, in the makes and styles I like, Hotter, FitFlop, Rieker etc. She was charging between £1 & £3 a pair! Then I got 4 x handbags at £5 each - Radley and Tula. She also had 3 x rails of M&S (mainly) tops and dresses - sadly a size too small for me but I did find two looser fitting ones with labels. I haven't got round to trying my haul on yet but any that don't fit will be donated to the charity shop I volunteer at.
Sadly, the seller was telling me they belonged to her late mother who had a buying problem and this was only a small fraction of the things they found! I spent somewhere between £40 and £50 with her and probably could have spent the same again if I'd had the time!

So instead I sold my soul to the big river company and their refurb programme (1 year warranty too). Think it cost about £200 for an excellent one. I’m very happy with it.
Passing thro Ripon yesterday called into the big chazza shop next door to Booths and picked up a pair of b/n real sheepskin slippers by Celtic & Co for £4. Probably mens but sooooo soft and cosy. Found them online selling for (gulp), £91! 🤗Doh! Tried taking pic with phone to see if I could make it smaller....couldn't!8 -

@mrsjaw, I've not come across yard sales, except in American terms, and I don't think I've ever been to a village sale - but what a good idea! Sad though it is that the lady had lost her mother and that her mother must have spent a fortune on all those shoes and bags, you did really well with all your bargains and it's a little bit of a silver lining that the items are now going to people who are likely to use them.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. It occurs to me to ask where you are and whether there are any nice local B and B's, a weekend away at a village sale might be rather fun.Rosa_Damascena said:This article https://apple.news/AURbeRcURTRKTRjrVuysbtQ has made me think about my chazzer purchases (100% credit card). I was going to call into my favourite bhf shop this morning but, unfortunately, it was raining burmese and mastiffs here this morning so my planned expedition has been postponed to Thursday."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Lots of lovely bargains for me:
Blue and white striped bag strap 50p
Weekday sky blue sweatshirt dress, just below the knee on me £3.50
Sleek Chic Prince of Wales check coat £7 but as I had a credit note I only had to shell out 50p. It’s quite lightweight but lined and I love it.
Liz Claiborne brown leather tote back £20, but I couldn’t resist. It does however have a bit of a churchy smell and I’d be super grateful if anyone could suggest a remedy please?
M and S kids tobacco coloured suede loafers. No tags but look BN £5
Green Converse £5. Need a clean but very little wear on the soles.
A Betty Boop organiser whose innards I have cannibalised for my Filofax 50p
Sanctuary Spa body wash and bath crystals 75p each.
Gordon Ramsay for Royal Doulton big white teacup 50p
Kath Kidston blue flowery oilcloth tote £4
Despite all this extravagance I have had a bit of an epiphany. I heard Patrick Grant (he of the Sewing Bee) on the radio yesterday, while in a charity shop!! He was talking about how we all have too much stuff that we don't wear . DH and I spent a bit of time this morning editing his wardrobe and adding it to my donation pile. I then went back through my own wardrobe and weeded out all my shirts as I think they look lovely in the shop but actually I prefer tee shirt styles so the shirts just sit there unworn. So we took tons to the hospice shop and actually while I’ve been out for a walk this afternoon I’ve thought of lots more items that can go. And I do actually need to spend less time in the CS.
