Thank you for the tip. Bought a £2 H&M leopard print blouse - i have been hankering after a little bit of leopard print this is much darker brown than I normally go for but it has stopped me wanting the shoes I saw on line

Also found a scented candle for 50 p I love candles and buy them whenever I see them in the charity shop if they are cheap.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
Did the rounds of Northallerton today and came away with 2 x bnwt cream, king sized flat Dorma sheets for 4.99 each, a pair of b/n Gerry Weber navy trousers for £4.99 from the Sue Ryder shop, a nice picture frame for a previous chazza buy by a local artist for £5 and a pair of b/n Aquascutum black wool trousers for £3.95 from the Cancer Research Shop.7

Have you considered negotiating freezer space for wardrobe/style consult? I’d clear the chest freezer fit a fortnight to get a reassuring steer on what ‘works’ for me as I tend to wear whatever’s clean/handy not selecting for style/fibre etc….7

These three startastic items
Violet Romance denim jacket with bleached stars £4
Sludgy brown/grey tote bag with stars £4
Grey Stanley/Stella sweatshirt with a big pink star.
It has been very slim pickings of late (possibly because I don’t really need anything). However I did persuade DS to get rid of a load of stuff and the woman in the CS was delighted.

Wandered round my local chazza shops today. The Sue Ryder shop had a half prices sale on some goods. Came home with an M&S navy checked blazer stylee jacket, was £8 mine for £4. Looks unworn as all pockets uncut and spare buttons still attached. Also got an unusual, (weird?), Whistles skirt in a checked woollen fabric in autumnal shades of orange. It has a centre pleat with a strip of fancy beaded trim either side. Lined in a luxurious heavy satin with a pleated trim at the hem line which is designed to show. £2.50, was £5.

I went to a charity shop today to look for a potato peeler as mine has gone missing. I think I must have thrown it in the bin with the vegetable peelings! I couldn't find one even though they had a whole tray of cutlery and kitchen gadgets!
I bought two tshirts to wear in bed, a teddy for my dog, three pairs of packaged black opaque tights, a book and a scented candle. That was all £12.

Looks like everyone is having a lean time in the charity shops5

I don't go in as often as I used to. There always used to be a bargain waiting to be found but now it's either the same tired nonsense as last time I was in, or the nice bits I see are just too dear. I nearly lifted a Marks' fine wool jumper the other day but it was only £1 cheaper than new (the original tags were still on it). Paperback books £2.50, hardbacks £8+. They're spoiling it for themselves
I'm donating less too. One of the churches here had a collection for the Sally Army so I had a huge tip out and they got the lot."One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world's wealth." - Ottmar Edenhofer, IPCC economist, interviewed at COP167 -
I have really struggled to get clothing and books. The stock is poor and I found out our local one has been told to put anything decent on the bay of e or if vintage to a special warehouse to be sold at the retro events.
but saying that they did have some excellent 70s Christmas decs in.8 -
Bought a b/n Zara midi dress yesterday from the PDSA shop in Otley for £5.95. Blue & white striped cotton with embroidered leaves in white, original price £59. Trouble was……3 sizes too big! Loved the fabric so thought I could at least make it into a skirt. Started faffing about with it at home and ended up removing the sleeves, taking in each side by 3” from underarm to hem, adjusting the bust darts, re-cutting the armholes and setting the sleeves back in and adjusting the wonky hem. Phew, such a lot of work but it now fits….yay!
( My first Zara purchase ever and I was shocked by the quality of the make…loose/trailing threads everywhere, buttons & buttonholes misaligned, hem wonky, faulty stitching!!😳)
