I’ll see if I can find out if it’s just a regional thing etc.goldfinches said:
That does sound interesting. I'd really like to hear more about how it works out in practice if you can bear to pop back and fill us in.RedImp_2 said:My better half ‘works’ in a charity shop and they’ve signed up to a charity shop gift card. Not sure how widespread and which shops it covers but sounds like a potential Xmas present for the regulars on here!4 -
As someone who works for a food bank I've been told that we are eligible as well - suggests it's nation wide.RedImp_2 said:

Made an unplanned trip into the PDSA shop and bought a pair of stretchy black trousers from Damart £2.99, an M&S jumper with stars on for £4.99 and a dark pink cotton M&S blouse for £2 (the old Marks logo but very nice). Total spend £9.98 and didn't have time or energy to try it all on, but luckily all fits great. Very pleased.
Blue jumper like this one.

I went into the hospice shop on Leigh Road earlier. I was looking for pretty dishes to put on our console table by the front door to keep house keys in. I found three glass dishes that I bought along with some charity xmas cards and a birthday card. That all came to £14.7

Found an Oxfam CS near the Lanes in Brighton. I've got to say there was absolutely nothing of interest in it. Don't know if that means there are too many bargain hunters there or if they don't get good donations.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Been finding so little lately it was a treat today, after venturing out into a very wet & windy Thirsk, to find a few nice things. From the Herriot Hospice shop I purchased a Viyella pure wool bias cut midi skirt in navy & beige for £4, a b/n Next midi dress in a William Morris print for £7 and an oddity.... a ring sizer thingumidoo for £2, (I have been known to purchase jewellery online and was never really sure of my ring size!

Every time I moan about not finding any bargains….stuff turns up….

Today in Northallerton BHF shop I picked up a b/n Seasalt dress for £5.95. The red and green, (yes it has green in it), may make me resemble one of Santa’s elves but…hey ho! (or should it be ho ho? 🧑🎄

Lovely stuff! I spent £1.50 0n a book for me and £3.20 on a book as a gift (hardcover and good condition).
I also had the first wear of a Christmas jumper I bought in one of the Thirsk charity shops last year and noticed it's too big, but too big in a nice way - perfect for under a waterproof in a recent deluge, so I didn't freeze and still looked festive when I arrived where I was going.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living.
