In contrast, I constantly find all manner of very affordable delights all year round from the chaz.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Anybody else finding the chazza shops full of clothing only fit to be relegated to the bin….bobbly, worn, tired, well past it? I’m getting the feeling that people are selling their stuff on Vinted etc now! Did the rounds of the chazza shops in Northallerton & Thirsk this weekend and found nothing. I ended up in a proper shop, Seasalt, and bought a dress….mind you they had a 25% off offer and I had. £20 gift card….but still!! 😳8

I hate the ones that put all the colours of clothes together so I have to hunt through dozens of racks instead of all the sizes together.Sealed pot challenge 822

Totally agree with you @Miró. My best buys nowadays are either small independent charity shops (like the temporary one in Helmsley which has probably closed now) or car boot sales. Ironically, one of my best buys this year was a Seasalt dress still with the original labels. I don't think it had been worn. Someone had paid £58 for it then discovered that the zip edges were sewn too close to the teeth of the zip, so the zip has to be eased over that place. Other than that it's a lovely piece of clothing and it cost me £8 (in an independent charity shop in Jedburgh).
I do really like clothes shopping but I'm also getting into the whole repair and conserve scene for environmental reasons. As Miro says, such a lot of what's in our local shops isn't worth buying - bobbly, worn, tired - or dire design!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

*Ahem* Having had a moan tho....today I called into one of the chazza shops in Ripon, (Martin House??), and picked up a pair of ivory leather ballerina stylee flat shoes, B/N & Clark's for £610 -
My best buys lately are jeans. Nice pair of stretchy M&S straight leg jeans for £3. Such a good price but in the same shop we’re worn out primark and boohoo tops for £6. Doubt they were that new. Sometimes I don’t follow the pricing 🤷♀️9

I think there are more bobbly jumpers and washed out clothes appearing. Having said that this year has been my best year ever for purchases, with many new with label items. This week I got a pair of M&S black chinos new with label for £4 (£25 originally) A bit lightweight for this time of the year, but will be fine in the spring. A new with label Next long sleeve plain t shirt for £1.50 (£9 originally ) 2 temple spa soaps for £1.50 and a paperback novel for 50p. I live in quite a deprived area so most of the Charity shops are still reasonable, although some are getting more expensive. I find the key for me is persistence. I need to go into the local town for other activities and groceries shopping so I try to squeeze in a look around the charity shops.9

I think frequent visits is the key. I was wearing my "new to me" cardigan recently and a friend commented on how I do have some great finds and she never does but the difference is I pop in the village charity shop when passing so I maybe go in once or twice a week, some weeks never, some weeks maybe 4 times. I never not go in.
Mostly I come out with nothing, but, when I do have a "find" then it is so worth it as the shop tends to sell everything at £5 or less.
Currently burning three star shaped candles (part of a £3.50 candle box) on a £1.50 cake stand and everytime I sit with my candles lit I smile. These were such a bargain - but - both bought on a "pop in have only 5 mins" stop.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!10
