I wholeheartedly support this @Rose_Damascena !!
I downsized four years ago after living in our last home for 20 years - I could only bring certain things with me so I made the decision to use my linen napkins, burn my expensive candles, use the perfumed soaps and drink from my crystal/ best glasses and mugs. My life is so much the richer for it and any visitors to my home always comment on my table settings or soaps in the downstairs loo
It's taken me the last 4 years to use up the M0lton Br0wn shower gel collection I'd amassed (it's on my Christmas List this year!) and I've broken 4 glasses in that time - but all whilst washing up after a lovely evening previously so I didn't feel too sad.
This isn't a dress rehearsal and I hate the thought of my children having to sort through my kelter when I'm gone so I use it all up and enjoy it while I can. My Mum on the other hand revels in the thought of my sister and I having to sort all her stuff out - she has dementia and LOADS of stuff that my sis and I definitely don't need12 -
I too am on a campaign to either use or sell the good stuff I've been keeping for 'best'. Still at the baby steps but it's getting easier. It's amazing what sells if it's good quality or a good name!
A trip to Otley yesterday was disappointing. It was far too cold to bother trying anything on in the 99p shop so my two purchases of a pair of M&S trousers, (too short) and a Limited Edition blouse, (sleeves too tight), were a waste of time!.

I’m of the use it up brigade but I do struggle to start using pretty notebooks.
My latest purchases include:
Joules denim dress £7
Abercrombie and Fitch khaki light fabric joggers £4.50
100ml of Sanctuary Spa moisturiser £1
300 ml of Sanctuary Spa moisturiser £2 in literally the next shop I went to.
Greeny grey denim jacket £4
And this cute Via Repubblica bag £3. I think it leather.

Love the bag. I went looking for a small coin purse today. Hardly any purses anywhere except for two (in different charity shops) very expensive ones! I know one will turn up eventually so it’s a good excuse to keep looking.7

Take a look at this list of Christmas gift ideas in The Guardian. With the exception of the Shokz headphones - which are extravagant but I found to be worth every penny - I wouldn't want any of them. Soap dispenser as a gift, anyone?! https://apple.news/AOEUGGD3TSziOXJXmOBuuqw
In contrast, I constantly find all manner of very affordable delights all year round from the chaz.

@Potternerd
I too am decluttering and also using my "bests" too. The big news today is "granny's bedding" is coming out of the loft. I stashed it there for safe keeping so the ex would not touch. It has taken me over a year to make the house start to feel l like mine.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
