Abebooks currently has a copy at £45 (plus others under £50) & now is the time to start dropping the Anvil size hints for Christmas?

A Uniqlo pure wool jumper, M and S thermal top and Sainsbury's dress. All about £4 from the Kemp shop near where Tesco and the library used to be.

Helmsley parking was fraught in the summer but it's a bit better now. There are always lots of bikers and I can't blame them for wanting to cross that vast moor towards the sea! But I suppose a town like that needs its share of tourists, including me... it's one of my favourite places. You'd better get in quick if you're to catch the pop-up chazza near Oxfam as it's closing soon.

Made it to Helmsley today and found the pop-up shop.  Bought a couple of books at £1 each and had a lovely chat with the shop owner.  Then in Thirsk I spotted a gorgeous vintage black leather bag priced at £30 which seemed a bit expensive but I have a feeling I might have to go back for it tomorrow or I shall regret it!  (Bags being my 'thing'!! 🥹)

Hit the shops today but didn't find what I was looking for.  (does that ever happen???)

I wanted to get him indoors something to use with his new turkish coffee pot but there was nothing suitable.  But a friend who lives near where we are holidaying next week has recommended a place that apparently is a bit of an Aladdin's cave so maybe we'll see something there.

Meanwhile I did spot some nice cards in one of the shops and bought 2 of each - one is just a lovely painting of flowers for 2 colleagues retirement cards and the other is a picture of a hare with a line about "not another gray hare" which will be nice for both him (birthday this week) and a colleague who's birthday is in a month's time.

Rather pleased with a black burnt out Devore velvet top from Mint Velvet this week for £11. A bit pricey but looks like new and 1/10th of the price this years similar tops.

My mum always had a thing about devore - prohibitively outside of her budget whilst she was raising 3 kids. When we fled the nest she finally treated herself to an item and never wore the piece again because it "made her look fat".

Your poor mum Rosa.  I really feel for her.  It reminds me of a few things I bought from charity shops to slim into.  By the time I'd lost the weight and tried them on again I didn't like them.  Such anticipation and such disappointment.

Ermmmmm......

Went back on Sunday after checking to see if they would be open then, website said 'yes'..... nope... shut!  Went back again today!  Not everyones taste but I love the 50's vibe and it's beautiful leather, an Irish brand 'Chesneau'.

Did you go to the Bedale bonfire @ fireworks on Saturday @Cherryfudge?  Thought the fireworks were AMAZING!!!!

I'm glad you got it @Miró! I only saw the Bedale fireworks very distantly as a friend posted a video! Tomorrow it's Northallerton's turn but I'll be at work. I might see some through the windows of course - and I'll hear the music because you can't not hear the music, even at the other end of town!
