Brie said:goldfinches said:@Brie - that reminds me that I saw a review of a book that would interest you earlier today, here is the link
Dior Scarves. Fashion Stories. by Maria Luisa Frisa, Maria Grazia Chiuri | Waterstones
That said - it does look interesting so I'll keep an eye out at the library or go into a Waterstones to see if they've got one I can look at. Or maybe one will turn up in a chazza.....5 -
Stourport today.
2 engravings from the shop where the Post Office used to be. £1 each but a 50% off sale!
A Uniqlo pure wool jumper, M and S thermal top and Sainsbury's dress. All about £4 from the Kemp shop near where Tesco and the library used to be.

@Cherryfudge I really must make an effort and visit Helmsley again….I was put off by all the bikers and the parking problems in the past. Love the Walled Garden too!
Helmsley parking was fraught in the summer but it's a bit better now. There are always lots of bikers and I can't blame them for wanting to cross that vast moor towards the sea! But I suppose a town like that needs its share of tourists, including me... it's one of my favourite places. You'd better get in quick if you're to catch the pop-up chazza near Oxfam as it's closing soon.6 -
@Miró, glad you found the shop. The bag from Thirsk sounds as though it might have your name on it...I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hit the shops today but didn't find what I was looking for. (does that ever happen???)
I wanted to get him indoors something to use with his new turkish coffee pot but there was nothing suitable. But a friend who lives near where we are holidaying next week has recommended a place that apparently is a bit of an Aladdin's cave so maybe we'll see something there.
Meanwhile I did spot some nice cards in one of the shops and bought 2 of each - one is just a lovely painting of flowers for 2 colleagues retirement cards and the other is a picture of a hare with a line about "not another gray hare" which will be nice for both him (birthday this week) and a colleague who's birthday is in a month's time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Went back on Sunday after checking to see if they would be open then, website said 'yes'..... nope... shut! Went back again today! Not everyones taste but I love the 50's vibe and it's beautiful leather, an Irish brand 'Chesneau'.Did you go to the Bedale bonfire @ fireworks on Saturday @Cherryfudge? Thought the fireworks were AMAZING!!!!11 -
I'm glad you got it @Miró! I only saw the Bedale fireworks very distantly as a friend posted a video! Tomorrow it's Northallerton's turn but I'll be at work. I might see some through the windows of course - and I'll hear the music because you can't not hear the music, even at the other end of town!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living.
