To get kitted out appropriately on a budget, the one to visit is near The Bell.Wednesday2000 said:I went into Salvation Army in Southend and saw a black faux fur jacket straight away. Size 10 so no good for me! I did buy a scarf in another shop for £3 as it was colder than I thought out.
The bus diverted on the way there and I went past a Sue Ryder shop that I had forgotten about.
Almost forgot - I popped into the Samaritans in Westcliff this afternoon and bought 3 books for £1.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Since Covid I just got out of the habit of wearing heels and now I just cannot walk in them so always grab decent flat shoes when I see them! Have donated most of my heels but still clinging on to a couple of pairs, *sigh*.Rosa_Damascena said:
@Miro - I love shoes like this and always have, ever since I saw "Lady Di" wear them in 1981! They are comfortable and practical, but are also suitable for work outfits.
Was orft to Otley today but lots of reports of trees down, road blockages and bridges closed so staying indoors....might venture tomorrow!8 -
If you're coming up this way over the weekend, there are a few temporary lakes where there used to be roads! I think it's drained a bit since it took us 45 minutes on Monday to go about 8 miles.Miró said:

Will miss your Otley update this week though. I need to persuade my daughter to do the Yorkshire Marathon again so I have an excuse to go!

I might try that shop next week, I can get a bus and then walk.
Looking at the map I didn't realise Priory Park was so near to where I live by bus. We went there last year for a festival and we went there and back via Southend! Totally the long way, haha.2025 GOALS

The jackets and coat are freshly laundered (but not yet ironed):Rosa_Damascena said:I went a bit chaz-wild today - buying 2 coats (Principals and TCM, which is a brand I've never heard of) and a tailored jacket (Edinburgh Woollen Mill) for a total of £9, plus a beautiful beaded slouchy handbag for £2.50. And the obligatory 2 books for 20p each
.
This was before completing my intended mission of returning to yesterday's chazzer to but a double clothes rail for £5.

I went into St Vincent's as it is near my dentist. I saw a black faux fur gilet, but it was a size 8.
I did find a casserole dish. I'm sure my grandmother had this dish. £3.
