welcome Prudent
and good luck
SIRENS line drawn and new year and start again, that new puppy should keep you active
Catz you nearly made me split my teano problem in holding a pencil or indeed the pencil case under your bust then! at the risk of TMI my late mum lost a lot of weight in later years thanks to Crohns shrinking to about 6 stone which affected her previous generous size especially her bust! she complained that they looked like two empty paper bags!!! personally i don't think I'll ever lose that much to have that problem

Happy New Year all, and hi to all the new members. Many thanks for running this again, Brambling.
So, the last 6 weeks have been entertaining, went Dr's and after a quick call by the G.P got told, hospital has a bed for you and off you go...NOW. Hospitals and I do not mix, hated every second of it, (long story), then less than 24hr after getting out I was packing and on my way to the airport. I've had a reaction to my meds and water retention is a problem.
Target is 5lb for me this quarter, back to see consultant early next month so if meds are still a problem will see if I can change them. Apart from water weight don't think I've put weight on, just need a good draining!MFW - 01.10.21 £63761 01.10.22 £50962 01.10.23 £39979 01.10.24 £27815. 01.01.25. £17538

My first weigh in may be Saturday this week, got a brekkie catch up in the morning (Friday is usually the day I weigh in after a long walk) and secondly my scales may need replacing!
They keep saying 'lo' - no not my weight....and no w either.
Tried new batteries but still the same message.
So fingers crossed Saturday I'll weigh in.

I can’t believe we are four days in and I haven’t been very naughty. On the same hand I have nothing in the house to be naughty with. Am going to make some breakfast bars too. Saw a recipe on YouTube and looks very simple and variable. Oats, whatever nuts float your boat, fruit- not a squishy one but maybe blueberries, apples, dried fruit - honey, all mixed together and into an oven tray, bake , cool, slice. Think that was all but will check recipe just in case.
Had a chicken salad with a jacket potato for dinner, couldn’t eat it all. Marmalade sandwich for tea, banana.Tomorrow I have some very lean mince out of the freezer so will be either spag Bol, shepherds pie or savoury mince.Well done all, we’re doing great xSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Hey there @Prudent and @Smudgeismydog! It's going to be a great year!
Almost 8am, so I guess my body decided to sleep rather than swim today which is unsurprising. OH has to go to town for an hour at 5 so I think I will pop to the gym. No pool open on Friday night.
Yesterday's grub:
Breakfast: overnight oats and blueberries
Lunch/dinner: smoky chickpea stew
Dinner/tea: 50/50 Bolognese from Jamie's £1 wonders. Already cooked, last of the frozen batch. Needed an easy tea as I was meant to be working, but work got cancelled. Recipe here but you need a log-in. https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/beef-recipes/50-50-bolognese/
The bacon and rosemary really add to this, as does the reheating, probably! Love the fact it's half lentils, helping me, helping the planet. I would probably like a whole lentil one to help the pigs too, but baby steps... Served with linguine, spinach, baby gem, yellow pepper and parmesan. My rating 9/10
Ooh, yesterday steps were 15843. Fitbit thought I'd broken into a run 4 times though, I am still unfit!
Keep reading books!

Hi Smudgeismydog it's never too late to join us
Sorry you haven't been well Jenny hopefully it wasn't too long a stay in hospital, i hope you are feeling better for it?
Thanks for the recipes Wishus I was thinking of making a lentil bolognese but I'm tempted to add this one to the menu plan instead as I have mince in the freezer

Going to look for overnight oats recipe as I should eat in the mornings and something healthy like oats and fruit would fit the bill. Also the oats are good for soaking up cholesterol.DH opted for spag Bol so we had that for dinner padded out with extra mushrooms. Cooked just the right amount for the two of. Us and both cleared our plates.Might be an omelette for tea as have eggs to use.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Forgot to check in yesterday! Update was managed to maintain drinking less pepsi. Around 1.2l and got in 1l of water (4 250ml glass bottles). My morning walk was just under 35 minutes - the weather was nice. Looking forward to lighter mornings and being able to take different routes (ground too muddy for some walking options atm). Did a quick 500m row between meetings.
Today so far, I have switched out a row with a stationary bike ride. Did 3.5km while watching some training videos for work. My morning walk was just over 25 minutes. I am really struggling with waking up in the morning - I had to have a small nap prior to starting work after the walk because I was so tired. Could be hangover from Christmas hols but I am also thinking that a 6.30 wake up call isn't the best option.
Because I am tired I am struggling a bit with pepsi consumption. Being tired causes me to struggle to focus and I then reach for unhealthy foods / drinks. Will try and ensure I get more adequate sleep going forward and maybe change to a 7am for next week and see if that makes a difference.Mortgage: £116,060 (Apr 2024)

Suzee if you to ring the changes with overnight oats there are some good baked oat recipes which you can try, i think it is the slimming world one which is FF yoghurt, oats and favours of choice ie berries or dried fruit
Gilly - if you are tired all the time have you had your thyroid checked as that and weight gain can be two of the signs of a underactive thyroid. Before i had mine diagnosed I was exhausted and would come home from work eat and go to bed. I very rarely drink fizzy drink but I know it's not considered healthy to drink too much so well done in trying to cut it back. Can you have healthy snacks to help with your afternoon droop maybe some pre boiled eggs or even cooked chicken or ham, i find bananas a more filling fruit to eat or some greek yoghurt and fruit the greek yoghurt is a good source of protein and keeping up your protein may help with feeling so tired.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin5
