  • Morning, didn't knock a step off with last week's PAD, but this week I have made it to 24.5 steps! Almost a quarter of the way! May not be quite a step next week, though may make it my aim to pay off at least one step if the account can afford it....hmm!
  • This weeks PADs take the steps to 24.99, haha, so darn close! But don't want to mess with the basic PADs as this account has a week until it gets refreshed so I want the money to last! Perhaps it will end the month with a little extra moolah I can send over!

Sounds like you're doing exceptionally well even if you've not hit that step yet @Aimingforthegoodlife, as practically 25%/25 steps so early in the year is incredibly impressive.

I've just paid my Barclaycard payment so now 14/100 steps.

  • 7 steps paid by end of feb! This is such a good incentive, thank you one and all. Though I did have a spending spree in a garden centre for my veg growing. I had a good week earning wise but feel guilty cos i could have put some more towards debt. :(

    I have hit 30/100.

@Keedie the no council tax for these two months has been a massive help as well! I need to remind myself, patience is a virtue

This is my smallest debt, the other debt I would barely be hitting a step! But that is why I chose to face this one first. I love to see how well everyone is doing, no matter the size of the debt, it is so encouraging!

Wow 30/100 is so so good @Aimingforthegoodlife! Concentrating on one that will help you achieve your steps quickly is a good thing, as it gives you the motivation to keep going. I used to squander the money from those non-council tax months, so I switched to paying it over 12 months.

@Keedie we are seriously considering moving in to 12 monthly, just to ease the burden a little, yeah sure two months off is nice, but 10months of less may be nicer! My other debt is much higher, and I am not sure I may be demotivated by making that steps

@Highlanddream we can't spend all our money on debts, we have to make ourselves happy too! Seeds sounds like a great reason to spend!

Regular payment of £80 finally went out, so that takes my steps to 33/100.

@Aimingforthegoodlife since I've moved to 12 months council tax it's made all the difference to knowing what I am doing with the budget as it's relatively the same April to March each year and I never had anything to show for those two months. So now I just reassess the budget in terms of bills every April as my council tax, rent and water rates go up each year.

As for the debts, my steps for this year are just an amount that I have chosen to clear from my overall debt and it's a combination of all the debts I have. And next year, the overall value of my steps will be based on whatever my debt is as of 1 January 2025. So you don't need to count your next steps based on your next big debt, maybe just aim for 10% or 25% and use that value to work out your steps. That way you still make progress, but you're kinder to yourself as you do it.
