    Hey,
Some refunds have cleared wiping out 3 steps , bringing me to 19/100 😊
I will still have more refunds to come, as a parcel got lost in the post and has now been resent, waiting for it to arrive to choose one of the jackets for my son and return the other 2 which will be about another 3 steps when that clears.
  • Hi, have been following this thread and decided I would join!

£2162.22 was my debt starting this year, and so far I have paid off £249.13. A step is worth £21.62.

So far I have paid off 11.5/100 steps!

I think @Makingabobor2, that you should set a target of how much debt you want to clear for this year. It doesn't have to be the whole lot, as the main thing is to be true to your budget and your circumstances.

Last year I did the Debt Free Before Xmas 2023 challenge and initially set a goal of £10,000 but realised that was too unrealistic so adjusted it to £6,000. And the best thing is that it was still a stretch goal but one that was more obtainable and I was actually able to exceed it slightly.  The £6,000 was not all of my debt, just what I wanted to focus on in 2023. This year I'm trying to clear the remaining £9,000, but that's a personal choice.

The challenges are meant to inspire you and support your goals, not to stress and trap you. So I'd say work out what is realistic as a target instead of what is idealistic. And if you want to push yourself, you could always add an additional say 5% to your target. So if your target was £1,000 and that was realistic for you, and you wanted to make a stretch goal with an additional 5%, you could make the target £1,050. Or Keep it at £1,000 and manage your steps accordingly.

Challenges are not meant to be too demanding or restrictive, just set your own equivalent pace and just make sure you have fun with it, as that's the main thing really 🤗.
Completely agree with Keedie, @Makingabobor2. You have to really ask what will work for you and set your own rules to make the challenges realistic, motivational etc. Certainly on this thread, nobody cares how you join in, if you want to join in, make up your own amount to count as a Step.

You’ve done brilliantly to keep chipping away and consistently working on it in whatever way you can, so you do you! Xx

Checking in with another 3 steps from the final DD this month, that brings me to 16/100
That’s amazing! And yes, our little heads all work in very different ways, so breaking bigger figures down like that makes it feel less overwhelming. But 16 steps, still within month 1 is fantastic! Well done 👏

So, I’m on holiday for my birthday at the moment - husband surprised me, hence I’ve been quiet. I don’t know what it is about my birthday every year, but I always plummet into a deep dark place. A lot of that is because of my debt I guess, so this is me, reaffirming, I am not going to still be in debt for my next birthday! It does mean the mystery shopping has been put on hold, but I’m still hopeful I will get another step before 31st January!  :#
