So, I’m on holiday for my birthday at the moment - husband surprised me, hence I’ve been quiet. I don’t know what it is about my birthday every year, but I always plummet into a deep dark place. A lot of that is because of my debt I guess, so this is me, reaffirming, I am not going to still be in debt for my next birthday! It does mean the mystery shopping has been put on hold, but I’m still hopeful I will get another step before 31st January!  :#

you go! This debt is one thing but living life and birthdays is another! You’re making fantastic strides and have inspired me @C@CMD79

  • So I am down 1 creditor!!!
Just paid off my Creation loan 8 months early..... Total is now £1003.08 which just about takes me to 5/100. I somehow need to get in another 3 steps in January to remain on track to get to £20,000 by the end of the year. I'm not going to worry too much about it just yet as I get my redundancy payment in March. I am going to use some of this to clear my Sainsburys credit card which will clear 33 steps!!

Next step is to pay off an overpayment from my ex employer. That is £483, plan is to do this by end of Feb and of course make my minimum payments to all other debts.

Total debt when my journey began in December 2022- £66,133.42
    Current debt May 2024- £40,064.57
    Repaid 39.42%

avoided a grocery shop- the Sunday I fancy a roast - when you actually have food in already. I am overspending on some of budget so that means I am sending more to DMP so I don’t actually have any to overspend. Emergency fund still in tact! 🙌🏼

Hi everyone, great to see all the progress, it's so inspiring!

Well done @outoftheviciouscircle for getting rid of a creditor. And happy birthday @CMD79, I hope you're having a great holiday.

I've had a long hard think about my debts and my strategy for this year and rather than trying to pay the whole £9,000, I am going for 75% of the debt instead. So my new target @CMD79 is £6,750 with 1 step = £67.50. So I've done 4/100 steps so far as I've paid £300 since the year started. Sorry to be a pain, but can you please update my target and step value? x

I think we probably all get a real buzz from that final payment to clear something - Well done on bringing it forward so much! I hated my Creation debt - it actually made me feel really angry at myself for being so impulsive and not thinking about the value of the item I had versus how much I paid off. So next stop for you, clearing the overpayment which doesn't sound like too much! Few hard days on Prolific will sort that one!! lol

Thank you for the birthday message BB!! That's incredible to see how little changes in behaviours like not spending to get the roast you fancy on a Sunday can make such a big difference. We're definitely all getting there!!!  o:)o:)o:)o:)

Thank you Keedie! It was lovely. Yep, I need to get into work now, so I'll update the front page later today with everyone's achievements. I think you're right to do that, particularly because you only get the buzzy feeling here when you take a step, so breaking it up will keep you feeling buzzy!!  :D xx
