been out for brunch with good friends...first place we got to was rammed and no parking left (perils of being a tourist attraction and of the weather being good enough for walking) so we went to another eatery. I *might* have succumbed to a full English and i *might* have persuaded the other member of our party who also ordered a full English to have the black pudding after all and give it me
Cards bought for two January birthdays - this means I have them all now and can save on the postage by giving two to sis to pass on. Resisted Christmas items (20% off)

@Asparklierblonde sending you hugs. I know the feeling, probably for different reasons, and so can empathise. On Wednesday evening we noticed water dripping from the skylight in the bathroom ceiling into the bath, so yesterday I rang the managing agent to report the matter. To our amazement at 8.30 this morning we heard someone working on the roof. I don't know what they did but hopefully it will fix it. The building needs a new roof but it going to cost about £120K between 14 of us so everyone's service charge has more or less doubled for this year and next so that we can save up for it. We are on the top floor so it will be a nightmare for us when it is done, but once it has been it will be a relief and if we want to sell it will be a good selling point I would have thought. This morning after administering eye drops I went to the shops and bought another couple of things in the sales. I don't buy a lot of clothes but needed to replace things eaten by moths and needed a warm coat and jacket as I didn't have a proper coat and the jacket I had, had become too big for me. Whilst I was in the West End I also bought a birthday present for A as it's his birthday in 3 weeks. After that I came back to our local shops and popped in to the butcher for one slice of bacon for A (they must think I'm bonkers but if I buy a pack of 6 in the supermarket at least 4 will be thrown away as I rarely eat it and A just has it once a week at most). I then went to the supermarket for a few things to tide us over until the delivery comes tomorrow. The large Lindt Santas were reduced to 90p. I love them and was so tempted to by three one but resisted as I know I would scoff them in short order.Came home and made lunch, administered eye drops, washed up, put a load of washing on, thought about cleaning the bathroom but decided to leave it until tomorrow as we have friends coming on Sunday evening. Wasted time on the internet, made tea and am now about to wash up the tea things and out the TD on as the washing is almost finished.9

The stomach seems to have settled.. thank goodness.. 4 jaffa cakes and a chicken drumstick are clerly not things I should be eating.. lol...
CoG.. I almost had a panic about January birthdays then.. it is DS2's birthday on the 15th.. but I have been terribly organised and already bought him new shoes.. from Vinted, with my earnings.. most thrifty of me. my nieces on the 22nd but I've not seen her for 7 years sadly.
Why not separate the bacon into individual slices and freeze them?? I buy 5lb packs and freeze it in batches. I do the same with chicken and turkey fillets and various other meats.
Dot is being an absolute nightmare.. she has been wild for about 2 weeks but is excelling herself the last few days..

CoG - in my mind you live in a really glamorous apartment block in a fancy part of London - I think it’s references to nipping to the West End that are bringing about that vision! I hope the roof is an easy fix and not too stressful for all concerned xx

@Cloth_of_Gold another advocate of freezing bacon in usable portions - it doesn't deteriorate at all. Mind you, I still get mine from the butcher because it's far superior to that from a supermarket...
My tasks for today:
Bread made? - Check!
Butcher phoned? - Check!
WM/TD done? - Check!
So I'm pleased I met my target. Also bought in a load of wood to replenish the indoor log store. Slightly cooler and fresher this evening and the sun showed it's face today which was nice to see. The garden is all in a muddle though - I have roses still in bloom and the camellia in DS's garden has burst into bloom in the last few days, the squirrel that lives in the pine trees at the bottom of the garden is still gathering food rather than digging up stored stuff. I do hope we don't get a cold snap that will kill everything off or cause a dearth of fruit next autumn because everything has flowered too early....
Tomorrow I have DGD all day as DD and her DP have hired a van to move the big stuff over to the new house. I will go pick her up about 9.30am. I'll have the car child seat so will hopefully be able to take her down the beach for a bit if the weather is clement enough - the forecast is dry but we have a yellow warning for wind... Failing that, I'll get DS to take her over to the playground in the park at the bottom of my garden for a bit.
So, little flying will be done - though maybe I'll get her to pair up socks and fold undergarments from the laundry basket, or would that be classed as child labour?
Have a lovely evening peeps

@soappie wouldn't it only be child labour if you paid her?
Fully cleared the washing up, some of which has been there since Xmas dayMight vacuum though I am telling myself 8pm is too late so I don't have to. Should also take a shower and do some self-care

Interesting idea @flamingo747! Which prompts the question: "is it only child labour if you pay the child?"
What is it called if the child *isn't* paid for doing something but still does it at the instruction/coercion/insistence of an elder? ..........I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
