I hope you had a lovely day yesterday, Iona. Maybe your DH will surprise you and be the tidy up fairy…?
There is just one roasting tin still soaking, everything else is either in the DW or already put away. With DGS2's help, all the rubbish and recycling has already gone out to the bin/bags/crate, and the boys have put away the trundle bed and left everything tidy before their mum and dad came back to pick them up. Everyone took cake and/or pudding home with them, whilst we have gained a few bits of salad and some cheese (I'm absolutely not worrying about getting slinky until Tuesday). Nobody went hungry, and the only thing I forgot to put on the table was the red cabbage which I had left in the microwave after heating it up. Fortunately it can take a lot of re-heating and will fit back in the freezerIt has been very hard work, preparing for the yesterday, but well worth the effort to get all my family together and enjoy each other's company.
I don't have much planned for today - or even tomorrow - apart from taking Rosie for her walk. It has stopped raining for the moment, and I have just finished my coffee, so I'll take her out before lunch; and then I might just put my feet up, start watching something mind-numbing on the TV, and not worry if I somehow end up having a snooze on the sofa.
A very Happy Birthday to Round's DS.
Take care, all - don't over-exert yourselves, and enjoy the rest of 2023! xxx8 -

Bathrooms cleaned, I even scrubbed the grouting in the shower, which is definitely above and beyond. Now that DD is safely back, I need to get her muddy riding gear in the wm. We have discussed which RoD /project is next to be tackled….funnily enough, the list looks very muvh like the one from this time last year. Apparently this year, DH will have more time / be more motivated / actually do something (delete as you fancy)…watch this space or just join along for the laugh, as this list will undoubtedly look very similar next Twixtmas.8 -

All washing swished and draped on the airer.

Still got the adminny stuff to do - but it can wait until tomorrow. Did someone mention watching mindnumbing telly?

Hi all
Recycling sorted out, all surfaces cleared and cleaned, cupboard fronts wiped, sink scrubbed, DW emptied and reloaded and floor mopped. Short volunteering session done and been into town so DH could collect his new glasses.
Freezing here, I can't get warm. DS is asking if the heating can go off as he is too hot.
I am getting irritable, too much time spent at home with the same people I think, but the thought of work looming on the horizon isnt helping.10 -
DW on.
bother.. I loaded the WMs and forgot to turn them on..
I drugged my boones.. now I use to neither man nor beast.. but I hurt less.. that's a win right?!
Off to pay bills to get everything up to dat and square for the beginning of the new year and work out my 2024 budgetting.

And the rain came down this morning.... winds are still up.... now it's getting dark....
I don't know what day it or what time it is & there's still too much cheese left in the fridge - oh the joys of Twixtmas....
Took all the extra Xmas decs down - left the tree up to see in the New Year, then it'll be coming down on the 1st - a month of decs is long enough. Currently organising 2024 calendars and diaries, all bank accounts looking as they should be with no unpleasant surprises.
Sat here with indigestion after eating the last piece of Xmas cake, love to all xxx9 -
Back from being away for Christmas yesterday and today has been spent unpacking and resetting the house a bit.
So far:
All unpacking done including left over food we took as self catering
2 loads of laundry done
Kitchen reset, food shop done, food plan done
Bedding changed and extra blanket put on
Still to do - this will be across the next few days. Both DH and I on holiday from work so no rush which is nice.
Cooking & baking - tonights dinner (Mac & Cheese), soup, HM bread, steak pie for NY day etc
Wash blankets that we use in our winter boxes for the cars - they need a refresh
Declutter
Clean bathroom including shower screen
SS Bedrooms including office
Sort through and put away Christmas things/decorations
Sort through birthday cards and see what I have/need
Nothing more today though, I am tired so going to have an afternoon nap and maybe do some crochet later.

I've been off dropping stuff back to the in-laws, which was a 3 hour round trip, plus did the groceries. Loads to do tomorrow, and it's Mr Flamingo's final day at his old job, so a good day to get things cleaned up and reset.
Tonight is just for resting and eating Xmas stuffMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

I am exhausted...
Picked DGD up about 10am this morning and she's been here all day while DD and her DP moved everything from the old to the new house. She was collected by DD's DP about half an hour ago.
It was lovely to have her all day but my plans for taking her down the beach after lunch were scuppered by an announcement from the local council that the undercliff road I had planned to park on (on the flat, with immediate (i.e. within three feet) access to the beach) had been closed because the weather conditions were swamping it with sand etc. (As I type this, the wind is continuing to really pick up outside - we're in a yellow warning area).
So we ended up watching (her first apparently!) Wallace and Gromit film on TV and playing a lot of Exploding Kittens and the paper based word game Hang Man.
DS is out with mates tonight and I had the foresight to bung some lamb chops with leeks, onion etc. in the slow cooker at lunch time so my dinner is sorted - I just need to boil up some potatoes and veg...
Flying wise, I did manage:- Load the DW and turn it on (will empty it shortly)
- Made ANOTHER loaf of bread as DGD loves Granny's bread and has depleted the stocks so I need to replenish them.
- S&S the bathroom and bunged some bleach down the loo
I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
