@roundtuit I think that's perfectly natural. I feel it to. I do have the challenge that today is Mr Flamingo's final day at the job he's been at more than two years, and he's going to a completely different job, work pattern, clothing etc. I have a lot of worry that he will hate it and be unhappy there. I don't like change much. 2024 is looking very different than 2023 already.
I hope you can remember lots of happy things for 2023 as well, and picture some happy ones to come next yearMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Drum roll please - first coat of white on DS walls. I have run out of white paint so will have to wait until Tuesday to do the second coat before putting his chosen colour on the top (a gentle grey) but it’s a start xx10

Thank you flamingo. I have a wedding to look forward to. And so much to be thankful for. An attitude of gratitude is required as we move into the new year. 🙏

@Asparklierblonde I do live in a nice part of west London but there is nothing much glamorous about my life I can tell you.
It manly revolves around grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning and administering eye drops! It's funny because I had imagined you as something like the woman on that programme My Yorkshire Farm - managing all sorts of children, animals etc whilst still looking glamorous.
@Narc0lepsy we are totally on the same page re decorations. Ours go up around the 12th, like yours and down at the last-minute on 12th Night. It's what my mother used to do so I've just stuck with that. Thanks to those who suggested freezing the bacon but A often doesn't decide what he wants until the last-minute and we don't have a microwave for fast de-frosting. The butcher is only at the end of the road and and I buy as much or as little as I want so it's not a real problem. I don't eat much meat so I buy mainly for A and I think they are probably used to me going in and buying very small mounts of this and that.We have a couple of friends coming over for dinner tonight and the flat looks as if it has been visited by a family of angry bears. I cleaned the bathroom this morning but everywhere else is in a state of chaos. We've just had lunch and I've given A his eye drops so after washing up I need to blitz the sitting/dining room and hall (they won't see anywhere else) by which time it will time for tea and Christmas cake.
I decided to keep things reasonably simple for once so my meal is largely a construction job, rather than lots of cooking. I think the menu sounds nice anyway. We have agreed that we won't go on until midnight and they will leave around 10.30, as A cant' really cope with it (he's having a post-lunch nap now). I don't really like the midnight part of NYE anyway, plus I don't want to start washing up and clearing away at nearly 1am. I try and do as much as I can as I go along so hopefully I can be more or less done and dusted by midnight.10 -
CoG, same part of the world but definitely not as glamorous - I have no idea how she lambs with a mini skirt and bangles on!I will be visiting London with work sporadically next year so if you fancy a natter… x11

Well my chest feels shocking today.. looks like chest infecctions are my new go to illness.. definitely preferable to tonsillitis but not as convenient for everyone else as the laryngitis though I might do that as well for dramatic effect!
Meters read, parcel parcelled ready for collection on Tuesday. Squeaks DLA renewal ready to post.. I'm saving that until Tuesday as well so it is not lurking about in limbo in the postl system.. I have until April to get it in so not a massive rush.
Panto on the 2nd whenever that is.. and Squeak has CBT appointment on the 3rd.. I think that is Wednesday.. my phone squawks reminders so we are all good.
OH mentioned taking the girls to the park about 10 minutes ago.. the park which closes at dusk and we are well past that... and it is raining.. honestly, I swear he is demented at times! I have set him on teaching Twinkle to tie laces on the basis it is a valuable life skill.

@pigpen I finished Junior Flamingo's today too! Tempted to pay the cost to send it with proof of postage from the post office in Tues rather than box it tonight. Ours is due mid-march!Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

I usually send signed for or tracked.. and photograph or scam every page before sending so I can send it all through again without having to redo it all when they can't find half of it. We have had loads of new info added since we first applied so hopefully it won't take too long for them to sort it. She's been a bit better the last week but the fnd has tippled off again yesterday evening so she's back tootling about with her stick..
Thrifty, this is the 3rd chest infection in 6 months.. I'm wondering if it just isn't fully clearing. I am sick of coughing though. I have had an inhaler since 2020 when I had the most horrendous hayfever. I try not to use it because I don't think it is good for the body, it needs to figure stuff out itself.
DW on it's third run
sides wiped so the kitchen is less of a swamp.
Money shuffled for tomorrows DD's/SO's and bills paid up to date as far as I can. I paid a chunk off my credit card so I can use that to pay other stuff and not incur interest charges.
Ordered some bits for the bigger girls for christmas..
