I've had a lovely day, being (fairly) lazy. WMx3 done and TD'd - so all used tablecloths, bath towels and tea towels, and dog towels have been FUPA. Quite a lot of leftovers have gone from the fridge (including some red cabbage
), but there are still enough bits to save me cooking for the next few days. I took Rosie out for an hour before lunch when it wasn't raining, I have slept for a good hour and a bit this afternoon so my back is much improved, and we have watched a mix of TV and done another couple of clues from the King William's College Quiz (though at this rate it wont be finished until next Christmas!).
I am thinking of doing and-of-year admin tomorrow morning.... (just thinking, you understand).
Snuggle up warm and sleep well xxx9 -
Morning all
Another stupidly early start for me today, I’ll be wiped out by 3pm I expect. I am really not keen on NYE but the children want a little ‘party’ so I’ll do some games with them. Back to work on Tuesday, but children still off school then so need to be super organised whilst juggling the two.
Thankfully it seems dry and still out there, a very very welcome respite, yesterday the rain hammered down all day and I got quite fed up with it all.
Reminder to read your meters today ladies. Take care xx9 -
Morning all. I had a lovely night out last night with the family, we went for a meal in one of our favourite restaurants but for the next couple of days, it's back to working new year shifts.
My list for today
Get dressed
Feed the animals
Paid stuff (8am-8pm)
Sort out some more of the diary for next year.
See in the new year with the family before heading to bed.
Think that is all that I need to tackle today. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday and the last day of 2023.

Thanks for the reminder re Meter readings ASB.
DH and I are focusing on cooking today. I'm heading for a cuppa to fortify me before getting started then get some bread mixed up and set aside to prove. Then we're making some roaated red pepper & tomato soup, individual quiches and then steak pie that will form the main part of our NY day meal.
I don't bother much with NYE either. I usually stay up to 'bring in the bells', mainly because alot of our neighbours do fireworks so there is no point in trying to sleep anyhow.
Have a great day eveeyone xx10 -

Belated Happy Birthday for Rounds DS.
Lovely evening out last night but I slept badly and feel a bit glum this morning. The downside of having such a good Christmas break is that it has to come to an end and going back to work is going to be tough.
Hoping to go out today either to the coast or up onto the moors, then we have bought steak for the menfolk and salmon for me for dinner, but I am not too fussed about seeing the New Year in. I think DS and GF will be here but DS will be at work at 7am tomorrow.
Time for coffee I think.9 -

WUALTD before bed so that needs dealing with, also WM, TD and DW have all been pressed into service so they too need sorting. I want to iron today as I never got round to it yesterday but I did read 4 chapters of the book I bought in Foyles…which I haven’t touched for weeks. My TBR pile is ever-increasing so I think my New Year’s resolution is going to be to read more…then move most of the books I read on.
I want to slice the banana cake before I take it to the Fuddle we are having at work. I also need to vacuum my room bit the battery died last night, so I had to recharge it first.
Also need to read meters and report. And give the thread some thought, too. I think 🤔

Good morning all,
Yet again, I am the only up. Prior to retiring, DH was always up and at ’em, even at weekends. I’m not liking this sudden change.
I’m hearing you loud and clear, YL, and with you all the way. Glum is a good word. I always worry away my breaks from work, which is so frustrating.
Not sure what today brings. I need to clean the hob after DH’s cooking efforts last night for sure. DD is out for the evening and overnight. DH and I won’t do anything to bring in the NY. Glum really does sum it up.
So, pulling myself up - anyone for a cuppa? Kettle is boiling, and I even have some bread left if you fancy a slice of toast with that.7 -
Morning all, we're back from our Christmas away, and I've just managed to read and catch up. Happy belated birthdays to pigeon and son of roundtuit. Hope not too much bad weather on the way for anybody.
Flying today. DW done, Turkey crown cooking for tonight, bought last January and not used over Christmas, need to peel and prep veg. Also need to finish reading the third Thursday Murder Club book, might also declutter some more chocolate.
Happy New year to you all, I hope next year brings you everything you need, hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx

New Year always makes me sad. A time for reflection and memories. And I still think things will be magically different tomorrow and it's sooo disappointing when they're not. I know, I'm weird.
Right. Clothes on. Now.
