Another few minutes work on the hob - you never know I might be finished by the end of February 😉
Nice to see you weenancy 👋 I am sending positive vibes that all the doctors appointments had positive outcomes 😊🙏 Crikey the book sale came around quickly 😧 Hopefully the weather didn’t prevent people turning out in droves 🤞Great that you managed to combine decluttering the kitchen with providing the book sale with plenty of bags 👏 Is G still helping with the kitchen declutter? It does sound like you are doing really well in there & good luck with the ‘library’ declutter 🍀 Condolences to the Tongan family 😢 The funeral sounds like an amazing experience & a real celebration of life 😊 Sorry to hear about both the car & the weather 😔 Repairs to the car or a new to you car is an expense you can well do without 😞 Thanks for the warning about the bad weather heading our way 👏 The wind has already picked up again, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the fence panel that DH mended last time will stay up 🤞 Please stay safe 🙏
Lovely post Dfw38 😊 & some excellent decluttering 👏 DD2’s Roman outfit sounds like it is coming along nicely 😊 Shame that you had to buy in some fabric & that it was so expensive 😔 Good luck with bag 10 🍀
Liverpool_Anne, very pleased to hear that time spent in the TLC Carriage meant that you were able to enjoy your evening out 😊 Very fortuitous that you managed to go out as ln’s bus pass might well have completely vanished 😮💨 Very interesting information about how schools & school trusts/academies work 👏 Sounding more & more like businesses designed to fleece money from parents 🤨 rather than educational establishments 😞
One ring on the hob now completely de-gunked 🥳
London_1, you have worked so hard that I am not surprised that you are on your “second culling” 👏 Your mention of gel pack gloves has reminded me that years ago we spent quite a bit of money at the Motorbike Show & bought a bag of gel packs to use when on the bike in cold weather. Ashamed to say that we only used them once 😔 & then they were hidden in a cupboard. I have dug them out but doubt that they will work after all this time 😞 Not only excellent decluttering but also a couple of lovely ‘treasures’ found & brought back into use 🥳 Enjoy your Sunday dinner 😊
Excellent decluttering Pitlanepiglet & a few pennies earned as well 👏 Well done on the continued digital decluttering which is just as beneficial as physical decluttering 👏 Sorry to hear that you have succumbed to the lurgy & cough that is doing the rounds 😔 So I am pleased to hear that you are spending time in the TLC Carriage 😊
vulpix, sorry to hear that the lurgy has stuck around for so long 😔 It can be so draining although I see from further down your post that you are sleeping better because of the new blind in your bedroom 😊 Excellent decluttering of both your mum’s & your fabric stashes 👏 & very efficient disposal as I see someone is picking it all up this afternoon with the bonus of a suitcase full of wrapping paper 🤩 So impressed that I am sending you your own medal 🏅
Muddy_Walker, well done on starting work on the gigantic frog 👏 Sorry to hear that DH is unwell again but love your comment about “giving him the look” 😅
bit_by_bit, sorry to hear that you are still under the weather but hopefully, time in the TLC Carriage plus your decision to stop working in the CS will lead to a quicker recovery 🤞😊 Meanwhile you are still managing to do some excellent decluttering 👏 & keeping stuff out of the loft is a definite win 👏 “January is always a tough month either financially or mood and health wise. Not long now to sunny days.” 🤞🙏
Excellent digital decluttering Pitlanepiglet 👏
17:49 - DSis has just made herself a bacon sandwich & DH is now using the frying pan to start preps for a beef stew for tomorrow when he will also be having a go at making dumplings 😀 Tonight’s dinners will be an attempt to clear some space in both the freezer & fridge - DSis will be having the lo sausage linguine, I am having a portion of fish pie & DH is happy with a fish finger sandwich. As I cannot do any further work on the hob, I will post this & have a short break before resuming the cheerleading 🙂

@Mrs_Salad_Dodger My favourite dumplings include fresh thyme and rosemary chopped very fine, they're so tasty and after eating those, parsley ones taste really insipid. Fingers crossed for him! Half suet to sr flour always works!

When I woke up this morning I looked at a big pile of books beside the bed and thought “maintenance decluttering! Who am I trying to kid?” 😂 So today was devoted to book shuffling, sorting and weeding out those that can go. The goal being that every single book in the house had to be accommodated on a bookshelf. I took the opportunity to put like with like too so that I can see better what I have. Given that some books have been in the same spot for 20 years, I might struggle with finding them at times. A bagful for charity, a bagful for destruction and a big box listed for online sale.20

The house is definitely getting tidier and tidier and at least when I put things away I usually find things to declutter at the same time. Should be a win win process. Definitely need to continue the little bursts of tidying (my dream will be to sit down in the evening in a perfectly tidy house so I can actually relax and don't feel like I should be doing something else). I've been doing some tidying every time there is a small gap (e.g. after DD is in bed I'll run round for 5 mins before sitting down), or putting a couple of things away every time I get up to get a drink etc. Hoping that will become the norm and so I will crack this tidy house thing. Also need to switch focus back to digital decluttering as there is a lot of work to do there and using up some stuff in pretty much every cupboard/drawer that I have!I suspect no one remembers, but absolutely ages ago I posted that I had too many clothes for DD (my mum got a bit excited with some purchases) and so I laid out 10 tops for her in the drawer and packed the others away as they were second hand from DS (and most were second hand before that) and DD is very much straight into the mud and any messy play - so likely she will destroy some stuff. Anyway, nothing destroyed (well ok, some paint stains, but I don't see the point in sending her to nursery in beautiful clothes) and I just rediscovered the pile of stuff I had put aside for her. So basically I never did need those clothes! I will hang onto them for a bit longer until she goes into the next size up in 5-6 months time and then have a big purge. It's difficult when they change size mid season as I have to hang onto clothes from the year before as she will fit for a while and then need to go into the size up. Not looking forward to the major washing effort when I pull the next size up out of the loft and then finding somewhere to store them in the wardrobe before she starts using them. Probably an Easter project. Also got DS to flick through his pile of papers as his container was getting a bit full, so most decluttering stuff went from this.Digital:
7 - notes deleted
Physical:
1 - DD tat binned
29 - DS paperwork recycled
2 - broken glass containers (recycled)
5 - DS tat binned
2 - DD tops slightly too small (charity bag)New total = 1,975@nannywindow I'm sorry to hear this. Make sure you get your feet up when you can in the TLC carriage. I've laid out some lovely gingerbread car and tractor biscuits made by DS that are really rather good! Brie, well at least it probably made you smile 😃
Crazycatlady2, your tree might not have a name but it now has a gender 😉 Good luck with your ‘deep cleaning list’ & persuading your eldest 2 that they should join you 🍀
Great decluttering Floss 👏 & how lovely that the young man in the CS has both good taste in music & is appreciative of your donations 😊 Lucky niece 🍀
bamboo_socks, thanks for responding to Crazycatlady2’s question 👏 I do so love ‘benign neglect’ gardening 😉
nannywindow, so sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis & that DH also has it 😞 Keeping everything crossed that the extent will be determined quickly so that the appropriate treatment can commence. Lots of cwtches coming your way 🤗
Excellent decluttering Florafauna 👏 Another person planning on moving - it is becoming a theme 😊 Hopefully you will find a few ‘treasures’ whilst you are decluttering 🍀
-taff, lovely post 😊 Shame Frank had to be cut down but 20’ is definitely way too tall 😉 Good luck with decluttering the bathroom cabinet 🍀
Some excellent advice re planting trees dND 👏
retiredinfrance, sorry to hear that DH’s broken bone is still not healing 😞
-taff, those dumplings sound delicious 🤤
Moorviews, I had to smile at your comment “maintenance decluttering” Who am I trying to kid?” 😃 However it has prompted you do to a very successful session of decluttering 👏 an excellent number of books decluttered & good luck with the sales 🍀 Remember not to buy any more books 😉
QueenJess, so pleased to hear that you are noticing a difference in your house 😊 The little & often sessions of tidying & decluttering really do work & you have inspired me to try & do the same 👏 Good luck with the digital decluttering 🍀 I do remember you posting about DD’s clothing mountain & how you were setting them aside for future use 😊 Just need DD to put in a little spurt of growth but not until Easter & then hopefully you can declutter large numbers of clothes & the weather will have perked up enough to dry outside 🤞😊 Well done to DS - not only a seasoned declutterer but now a baker 🤩
All caught up so off to heat up our dinners 😉
