2024 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

as you know I only pop in once in a while but the decluttering goes on behind the scenes like the swan swimming serenely on the river. Since decluttering Mrs M this year it is amazing the things which come to light which need some difficult decisions making.
We have a rehabilitation facility on our doorstep, or Afghan nationals (and their families) who were involved in some way with our forces during the conflict, and have been spirited away from the terrible retributions being meted out by the Taliban. The upshot is that many of these poor souls do not have appropriate winter clothing and an appeal went out for suitable items. Yesterday I put on my big boys pants and started to go through the wardrobes ,which turned into quite an emotional journey as you would expect. However I ended up taking two very large bags of coats, jumpers, gloves etc of Dawn's plus a pile of stuff of my own to the collecting point. I had intended taking much of it to the CRUK shop but I thought the immediate needs were more important. There will be plenty of stuff for CRUK at a later date.
Went a decluttered a substantial sum on postage too, not that I intended to, but realised there were a few people on the annual list who would not have heard my news. It made for some very hard card writing, particularly signing them with only my name. Whilst I was at the PO ( we still have one!!!) a group of young Afghani girls/women in were in front of me buying ice creams of all things. A grump in the queue behind me was huffing and puffing and saying quite inappropriate things under his breath which fortunately only I could hear ( I think). I am not a confrontational person but with hindsight I wish I had said something to the miserable so and so. I concluded my business and left to see these young people obviously enjoying their treat so I wished them good day and told them to enjoy. Their faces lit up, as I like to think they had been recognised and spoken too in a positive way. It's not these people's fault that they are here.
Sorry didn't mean to rant.

Decluttering tip run booked for 2.30 this afternoon, just been to pick up my 'script from the Drs
Our surgery has a Boots on site which is great as they will text me when its all ready to pick up and I whizzed down on the bus got the meds and caught the returning bus back home again all done and dusted in under 30 minutes. Just as well is its very 'mizzly' today. My late husbands word for when the seat mist and drizzle mix together
Yesterday when I went into Newport, in the Morrisons car park was a huge pile of bags of clothing piled up taller than the SA bin, which was full to the brim, so it doesn't look like its been collected for a week or so, its a shame as it would probably have lots of stuff people could use. Perhaps the collection lorry as broken down.
I know there is a SA shop in the town but its right at the other side or I would have popped in and told them. But if they are struggling I hope they can get it collected as its an awful waste as the council may just come along and haul it off to landfill
Knowing how hard Florenceem works to help people, I bet if she was on the IoW she would be down there like a shot sorting it all out.
I hope everyone is warm and dry as its a bit chilly as well

I'm still decluttering.
I have 1 bag for the charity shop on the go as well as 1 for where I volunteer.
I've bit's coming in for presents, but they will go out in the next month.
Edit to add, I've decluttered a reasonable pile of paper into the paper recycling.
The paper recycling will go Tuesday next week.Decluttering campaign 2023

Slightly off topic, but loads of the charity shops around here have a sign to say no more donations as they are full. One shop was rammed full of people browsing (to be fair, it is the best one to find things in), but it’s usually just me during the week. When I left the supermarket there was a queue of 10 cars waiting to come in. It’s all getting mad out there.2025 decluttering: 3,984🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Hi all, reasonable day yesterday but for some reason I was quite tired so didn't get as much done as I hoped. 2 LDFPA from the maiden before I went to get my hair cut. I am seriously thinking of going to a different hairdresser. I was there on time but ended up waiting while 2 other ladies were dealt with and as I had parked in a time restricted spot I was on the way out to move the car when she was ready for me. I said I would have to move it but she said nobody checks so I said ok but if I got a ticket I'd be bringing it into them to pay it. I was a bit annoyed as I had made an appointment. I have in the past been a walk in and I don't mind waiting around until they can fit me then but even when she was cutting my hair she kept popping off to check someone's foil covered head and I felt she was rushing the cut and I am not 100% happy with it but I can live with it until next time
. I went to the sm on the way home and got milk and bread and a few bits including a bottle of wine for a present, even when I think I have everything sorted something gets left off the present list
. When I got home I had to get the washing in off the line as it was just starting to rain so that was put on the maiden and then tackled the kitchen worktop. I cleared the bit that I had previously cleared and then had a late lunch. I then promptly fell asleep
. No idea why I was so tired but I slept for a good couple of hours. OH was out for tea so I sorted myself with some veg stew from the freezer and after tea I sorted all the shopping bags out that somehow have been accumulating in the back room and they were put back in the car boot then all I did was watch the footy and crochet
.
Today I am determined to sort the other bit of worktop
@Siebrie happy St Nicholas day
@nannywindow your Dad sounds like my neighbour over the road who sacked his carers and cleaner and then really couldn't cope. He also started every conversation with a moan. We came to the conclusion that he didn't know how to start a conversation any other way and used to reply with a joke along the lines of "I was having quite a good day till now, thanks for that", he always ended up laughing. His db and sil were travelling a long way to try to help him and we were called in to help, which was fine as we had offered but after several falls culminating in 2 call outs in one day he is now in a retirement home via the hospital and a long stay in a recouperating place. He is now driving his db crazy as he keeps changing his mind about selling the house. He thinks he might come back but as he can't walk without help realistically it's not going to happen. I wonder if you have the sort of relationship to be able to have a discussion about at least getting a cleaner back, even if it's just so he doesn't make himself ill with food going off in the fridge etc. I have heard of so many elderly men in this situation I do think it's quite sad when their pride stops them getting the help they need. I did hear that one of the age charities does a friendship scheme, (I think age concern), someone will phone or visit every week I think. It might be something to consider. Hugs
@QueenJess, hope your dd is better and good luck with the book sales. Thank you for the ginger biscuits
@Pennypincin hope you can sort your bed soon
I broke off to get a brew and have a shower and lost an earring while washing my hair. The bathroom has had a fingertip search but I have concluded it has gone down the plug hole and I am not dismantling the bath to try to find it so I have hunted out another pair and realised I have a lot of earrings I haven't worn for ages as they were all packed away when I started the work on the house. I have found a necklace for the cs bag
@London_1 fingers crossed for your friend
@Brie sorry to hear about your Mum, it's very hard when you are so far away, hugs.
@Vulpix I was also thinking of going to Chester but as you say the weather is dire unfortunately.
Well I think I will have to break off again and get something done or the day will be gone and I have a list
Hugs to everyone who would like one

LiverpoolAnne thanks for you thoughts about Dad. He has been approached about a care home by his OT team and dietitian etc but he refuses point blank. They've offered him all sorts of help at which point he told them he doesn't want or need help from any of them. We were kept updated about what was going on and we all agreed that they should stop as it's very difficult trying to help someone who refuses everything when lots of other people do want/need it. Thank you for caring so much xx
