Tomorrow is 4 months since fil passed away and me and husband are totally burnt out now
No interest in our house we trying to sell is also rather upsetting tbh too
Determined to make some happy memories in this house though so ploughing on with decorating and sorting etc. 3 carpets to go down next week then I can get all the Christmas stuff out14 -
Hello all. I've been in the TLC carriage again with my ongoing leg pain and I'll have to go back to the GP for more tests but getting an appointment is like hens teeth. I'll be glad to see the back of this year, it's been my annus horribilis.
Dad is running us ragged with problems that he has caused, this week he's dropped his house phone in a basin of water. DH couldn't fix it so it's been binned and he's borrowed an old one of ours until we get him a new one. He's also done something with his heating so an engineer is going to visit this afternoon.
Today I threw away loads of rubbish from the end of Dad's kitchen worktop again, why he can't bin it himself instead of waiting for me I don't know.😠 Maybe I'll just ignore it next time and see what he does. I took his shopping up to him and on putting it away realised the fridge was stinking and some cooked meat had gone off, plus his milk 🤢
I collected our meds this morning but not all of mine were available so I have to go back to the pharmacy at the end of the week. On the decluttering front 2 speakers have been binned as they no longer work, another book has been put in the cs pile and I've put 2 pairs of my hardly worn shoes in there too, why was I dithering about them for about a week for goodness sake.
Crazycatlady take some time to yourselves and catch your breath. Hugs.
London 1 sorry about Jack Russell, losing a pet is awful.
Florenceem sorry to read that Mr F is still in pain. Hugs to you both and well done on the money raised.
Sorry I can't remember much of what has been said, I have a head like a sieve. Hugs to anyone in need.
Take care all

@nannywindow sorry to hear about difficulties. Do look on freegle and frecycle,/ gumtree for a landline phone as so many people don't use them and I've given several sets away.
I hope you get an appointment soon.

Thankyou TC77 I hadn't thought of looking there 👍

Another set of digital BT phones scrapped (second in 5 years) so although not as convenient I have plugged in the old static one. Can’t afford £80 to replace the triple digital ones this close to Xmas and if we get used to it hopefully won’t need to at all. Washing and ironing up to date (not showing off at all) and a few odds & ends went with the dustmen this morning after operation tidy up at the weekend. Getting that Christmassy feeling but will hold out til the weekend to put up the deccies. Happy declutterring folks12

Another busy day here - 12,500 steps.
I took some bits to a charity shop and posted parcels at the off licence. I had to queue at the post office to send one small parcel. I needed some cash so that was done on the way home.
Mr F is getting more mobile although his leg is still badly swollen and red.
I emptied the porch, hoovered and washed the flor. Had a sort out of stuff and then put some back tidily.
I took photos for V while the light was good.
After lunch I trundled off with a trolley full of stuff for another charity shop. I tried two chemists to get a resistance band for Mr F - told to order online.
I needed fresh fruit and milk so did some shopping.
I met Dgd on her way home from her uni school placement.
After cooking dinner I wrapped and labelled sold items and listed on V.
Yesterday sales on V - £15.
Sales of £23.50 today.

Hi all, I have had a day, that is the best I can say. I spent ages trying to sort Christmas presents. One place had a minimum order for delivery so lots of searching to find something that I could add that would be useful / acceptable but eventually sorted. Then I wanted to sort a present for the baby. Did you know the big river shop does wish lists? Well they do and baby's Mum has done one. I wanted to get a book so I thought I'd use it to make sure it was one he didn't already have. I then had a mindnumbingly frustating time trying to work with 3 devices to sort it out. The list was on my phone but I wanted it on my kindle as that is the device linked to my account. You would think it would be easy considering I had all the information for the link but no. After several attempts and a walk away for a cuppa and a calm down I decided to just order it on the phone. Naturally I don't know my password so I had to fire up the laptop to get a code that had been emailed to me to complete the order. Then there were a couple of other things I wanted to order but there is no button to continue shopping so I had to go back in and do another order. Interestingly as the laptop was open I searched for the stuff on the laptop but when I went onto my kindle to place the order it was £3 cheaper on the kindle. This totally blew me away. I am used to comparing prices on different websites but the same website on different devices is new to me!!!! So 5 presents sorted and I am claiming every one because honestly I think it would have been quicker to get the train into town and get them all from a shop
. I did have a break for some lunch as I realised I probably had low blood sugar levels and that never helps
. OH was at home today and had spent the morning doing work admin stuff but then went into the kitchen to do some cooking for dniece so I only managed a surface declutter of the other half of the kitchen worktop but the kitchen bin was emptied. I tried to get on with some crochet but I was just too tense and it wouldn't flow so rather than risk doing it and having to redo it because the tension was wrong I put it away until tomorrow
. Now I am in bed but can't get to sleep. Right moaning over, tomorrow is another day
.
@Vulpix your own knit and natter grouphow fab
. I have taught a few people to crochet but I am hampered by not being able to read a crochet pattern. My mum taught me to knit and crochet but she never used a crochet pattern so I just use utube
. I think you will have a great time and get all the local gossip
. My bin monitor knows everything that goes on and what she doesn't know she makes up
. Thank you for the info re bulbs, my Mum used to do weird things involving the shed and the airing cupboard, moving pots of bulbs around for specific lengths of time and she always had them in flower over Christmas. I will make a note of it and try again next year
. Mr V will probably find some new tech version of the speakers that fit in his pocket
@Wednesday2000 OH loves a tin of soup when ill and I remember when I was ill as a child it was my Mum's go to food for mefingers crossed you won't need it for a long while
@Crazycatlady2 hugs
@nannywindow it does sound as if you are having a rough time. I hope you can get a Drs appointment soon. I am sorry also to hear about the problems with your Dad, it is very difficult to have to try to help someone who doesn't seem to want to be helped, or maybe he does but doesn't know how to ask. Leaving rubbish for you to clear might be his way of making sure you visit. I do think it is something men in particular struggle with. Do you think you are getting to a point where you might have to consider alternative accommodation for your Dad? Hugs.
@Duchess2 I dream of being caught up with the ironing
@Florenceem another busy day, glad to hear Mr F is improving slightly, hugs
Right going to see if I can get to sleep now. Hugs to everyone who would like one
1782 - 1786 presents sorted
1787 kitchen bin
Take care everyone

Hugs to all who need them. So sorry to hear about the little dog but sounds like those rescue dogs have had a good life with your family @London_1
Will try and catch up properly on everyone's news. I seem to be talking to tradesmen everyday at the moment. DD and DGD1 came up just for one day/night but did lots of jobs including sawing down the conifer beside the drive which I kept hitting with wing mirror. Drive needs to be widened but that is next year's job. Booked drive clean for next Monday - it is really slippery due to algae and I am worried about falling. Stacked 17 empty large plastic boxes in 'workshop' at bottom of garden. Some may be required so not getting rid of them yet.
Now I have internet I was able to do three pension changes of address. I can also make phone calls more effectively on mobile as signal here is so much better. It was always cutting you off at the old address. I have to go to the supermarket, post office and charity shop this morning. I printed off some change of address notices and was just about to put one in an overseas Christmas card when I realised I had the postcode wrong so scrapped those and printed more. Not much in diary as I usually go away with DD this week but we didn't go due to move. We are planning an overnight spa break in January.
1675 Crafting felt to school (found a whole pile of A4 sheets of coloured felt when unpacking)
1676 Small uniform to school
1677 Car load of rubbish to tip
1678 Conifer bush cut down and taken for recycling to tip
1679 Overseas Christmas cards written and will be posted when I go out
1680 Family addresses shared with SiL - my late DB always did the cards
1681 Several change of address notifications done - almost at the end of the business list and adding personal ones to Christmas cards
1682 Redirected post to former owners.
1683 DD managed to do water meter reading - I couldn't get down there and meter was really deep in ground. Sent to company.
1684 DD sorted communications from utility company and got monthly payment reduced moving forwards. They had sent me 5 letters last week.
1685 Christmas tree purchased and decorations spread around place. Many had regular homes for last 25 years so I had to think about where to put them.
1686 A few stocking gifts sorted.
1687 Two pictures to CS bag - I have to drastically reduce the number I have as wall space limited
1688 Cooking tray to CS - brand new - DD bought it for her oven but it doesn't fit and won't go in mine or DS2s either. We lost receipt.
1689 Three more boxes emptied
Right off to do jobs. Then I have school run.2025 Decluttering Campaign 733/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Good morning,
I am almost tidy again. Just a hot spot on the edge of the kitchen worktop. Christmas decorations that I don't know where to put, a very handy box that I am hoping to use to send something I am making. Fingers crossed it will be the right size. I suppose the decorations are telling me that they could go to the charity shop.
Gave a Christmas party sprout wreath that I made to our bin monitor. She loves it, so do I but I like the making more than the keeping.
Started a new charity shop bag with a Christmas table runner. I have loved it for 25 years but I don't even have a table these days.
A massive frog eaten, I have renewed my driving licence. It took minutes, so why put it off so long?
nannywindow, what a difficult situation with your Dad, particularly when you are not up to par yourself. xx
LiverpoolAnne, I would have given up with trying to buy stuff online. Technology is marvellous when the stars align and it works.I think the trouble is that I have had to learn IT as a middle aged person who didn't want to learn and had no interest in learning.
My Mum taught me to knit and crochet too, I can't read a crochet pattern either. But I am too lazy to learn. ( hmm bit of a theme here) I love a crochet blanket but prefer the look of knitting for anything else. Mum also had a craft night every week with her friends for about 30 years. It will be nice to get to know someone in this village. I find it hard to make real friends as an adult. It didn't matter as much when I worked full time and was a single Mum. I didn't have the time or money to do anything else.
You are right about Mr V's technology. What used to need a studio of electricals can now be done on his phone. Selling the big speakers doesn't leave him without speakers, oh no, no,no. He bought some new ones earlier in the year! As you say smaller in size but same output. There is one of the first computers at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, it is the size of a big caravan.
No craft club today so we are going food shopping, yay!
