👋 hello
container with 45 boxes of stuff arrived yesterday afternoon. I knew it would be emotional/ overwhelming and it was . A sense of disappointment in what might have been but coupled with a sense of finally getting a bit of control of my life back. Had a howl then got on with it.Dropped off the 2 bags of clothes in my boot to charity shop whilst in town on Thursday.
Since unpacking started yesterday I have a big box of stuff for charity shop, a small box of stuff for DD2, I’ve put books in my shopping bag in the car already to take into supermarket book shelf.I have a load of wrapping paper/ bubble wrap and smaller boxes I’ll put on local FB page once I’m done but I’ll hang onto the big removal company boxes as I had to pay for them so not quite ready to giveaway and who knows I might use them in the future!15 -
@daisy_1571, thank you, the problem now is the rest of the house15

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Since I last posted, I have made & we have eaten dinner (19:54) & very yummy it was too 😋 Linguine in a creamy bacon & pea sauce. Wudupa

Lovely post as usual Liverpool_Anne 😊 As to DSis, I have given up completely on trying to ‘advise’ her on decluttering 😂 Her purchases are confined to her bedroom which is bursting at the seams with ornaments, pin badges & clothes. I never go in as it is too much like a Room of Doom for me 🤣 Some excellent decluttering on Thursday 👏 especially bearing in mind that your OH did keep interrupting you 😅 I did read about the weird & wonderful forecasts on the BBC weather website 🤨😂
TC77, absolutely brilliant cartoon 🤣
daisy_1571, sadly no chance of seeing the Aurora or the Draconid Shower where I am - way too much light pollution 😔
vulpix, great work by you & MrV emptying & refilling the shed 👏
Gorgeous photos florianatwobob 😍 Might I enquire as to what part of the country you live 🙏
Stunning daisy_1571 😍
ruby_eskimo, how weird 😉
Floss noooooooooo 😥
Excellent work getting so much laundry done, Liverpool_Anne 👏 I hope you had the same success with the ironing 🤞
vulpix, I am your polar opposite when it comes to Christmas 😉 but what a dull world it would be if we were all the same 😅 Good luck with the frog nibbling 🍀
Excellent decluttering Rootle 👏 Congratulations on reaching 40/52 - one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 😊
Excellent decluttering Happy_Kitties 👏 & well done with both the neutral items & the Dun elm joy bags 🥳 Hopefully the new kitchen will be completed very soon 🤞
Lovely to see you dND 👋 Looking forward to seeing you more regularly 🙏 I do hope you are OK & are spending lots of time in the TLC Carriage 🙏
vulpix, one out of two nice buyers is quite good 😉 Fingers crossed that the Covid & flu jabs were OK & no adverse reactions 🤞I will bear that in mind about the egg content when I go & get my jabs - thanks for the heads up 👏 Shame that there was no Vegan food at the makers market but at least there was no temptation 😉 This “…. I am still on my diet, going well so far. I have lost the weight I found in Shetland.” did make me smile 😀 Well done 👍 & great work getting the ironing done & summer clothes all put away 🥳
London_1, fingers crossed that you have no adverse reactions to your jabs 🤞Well done on decluttering two large items 👏
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 The last number I noted was 1413 so I think you are now on 1444 🙂 You made an absolutely wonderful job of sorting & tidying the hall shelves 👏 Love that green bowl 😊 is it one of the radioactive ones 🤔
mhagster, I do hope you popped into the TLC Carriage once the boxes were delivered 😊 What an excellent start you have made 👏🥳 Do please remember that the boxes weren’t packed in a couple of days so be kind to yourself now that you are unpacking them 🙏
All caught up 🥳 Sleep tight 😴

Morning all - nearly drowning in boxes. DS2 and DiL2 are coming today to help with further sorting and packing and DD here next weekend. New house has roof issue (split purlin) which needs attending to asap. Will hopefully sort out this week waiting for quote probably c£2000. My solicitor has still not received answers to questions for my purchase but sale is all waiting to be signed. I feel slightly overwhelmed. Wandered round the Swedish shop yesterday - bought DS2 a coffee table and they bought a rug, tv unit and other oddments. I am aware as I pack that there is too much still and a lot will probably still end up at CS. DIL2 is going to go through linen with me today and we can make a sensible decision on just what I need.
1149 Council Tax Discount reinstated after DS2 moved out.
1150-1161 Glasses to CS bag
1162 Swimming pool emptied and accessories cleaned - will pack them up once it stops raining
1163 Random garden pots emptied and weeds in bin
1164-1166 Towels in bag for DD for dog and horse (or her house if they are better than ones she has)
1167 Cake dish to CS
1168 Packing 10 more boxes and 1 bag filled (26 +3 Total)
1169 Work boots to CS bag
1170 Plastic saucepan binned (all crackled)
1171 Shelf to DS2
Right some frogs to do before DS2 arrives but I have half full boxes all over the kitchen
ps - I didn't buy anything for myself at Swedish shop except lunch. I was very tempted.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Fomo, bless him, had me up at 5:45. No reason, he had food, he could get outside. when I went downstairs he hid behind the sofa. Thanks mate.
We went shopping yesterday and I got the cord to finish the advent calendar, 2 picture frames for some new prints and a Christmas present for my lovely cleaner. A set of mugs. I am running out of ideas as we get her something every time she cat sits. There's only so many candles, wine, soap. chocolates, flowers and plants you can give.
Vaccinated arm is just fine, no raw potatoes.
TC77, bookcase looks great. Have a bite of that elephant every day, you will get there.
Mhagster, go girl. Unpacking will be cathartic. Finding things that are old friends and realising some things were never missed at all so can go.
Granny Kate, your lovely family are all stepping up to the plate to give you a hand. Fingers crossed that it all works out right on the night.
I am hoping to catch Mr V in an amenable frame of mind to do my bidding.read evil laugh here. Mwahahaha. He does do a lot for me that he wouldn't do under his own steam! He is so good, as I am physically limited with so much due to arthritis. Today I would like him to get in the loft and pass everything down to me. The only things I want up there are suitcases and spare carpet.
Reasoning for this.
1. I can get rid of anything of mine, a towel rail for a start., and anything else I have forgotten about. DIL will have first dibs on the stuff I used at school in speaking and listening skills sessions with reception pupils. She has shown an interest in the dolls house and contents which would be good.
2. We can take a load of stuff in the car to DD1 next week. Including the Indian screen we have as a headboard atm.
Next week someone is coming to put the table top I bought above our bed as a headboard. I need to clean the table top up before then. When we bought the bedroom furniture it included a king size bed but it was just too big, too dark and seemed to dominate the room. It had a head and foot board in very dark wood. Gave it to DSS and got a divan which looks better. DD1 would like the Indian screen back and the divan looks a little unfinished without a headboard . Hence the table. It is the same make as the bedroom furniture and I think it will look the part. I did look high and low for a headboard and couldn't find anything I liked.
Happy decluttering folks. Vx:18 -
Morning all,
I've decluttered something from my life list as I went on a cruise to the Norwegian FjordsLovely scenery and visited a glacier and waterfall, enjoyed onboard entertainment and friendly passengers and far too much food and red wine. Had a rough crossing back home over the North Sea on Weds - was quite scared
When we disembarked, I discovered that another passenger had taken my suitcase (the label had come off) so I now have to wait to have it returned to me on Weds.
Before I left I decluttered a bin bag of stuff to the CS via DD1's friend (who works for Aged Uk) and while i was away I had a gardener here who decluttered 2 wheelie binfuls of overgrown weeds and brambles. He's coming back on Tuesday to discuss ideas and costs for my garden to make it neat and tidy
Not caught up on all the news but loved the Shetland photos @vulpix

106 neutral units dropped off yesterday. Some were packs or ‘units’ of things but just counted as one pack. That is the last of the neutral items out for this year leaving a final total of 780, much more than I ever expected but it has been a bumper year for bargains and I made the most of those bargains!I am slowly decluttering the kitchen which has become abit of a dumping ground, so getting more items ready for another drop off to CS, but for now main total is,
361) shoebox number 7 has now been dropped offDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Took my old printer and curling tongs to the reuse and recycling centre (formerly known as the dump). They've never let me walk in before - usually pedestrians are told to leave their things at a trolley by the gate. It's very organised in there, lots of staff and giant skips all colour coded and numbered bays.
I was a bit sorry about the tongs as there was nothing wrong except they stopped making those gas cartridges and my last one ran out this year - I've been hanging on to them thinking they might start making the cartridges again, but finally replaced them with electric tongs and let them go. I've had them over 10 years, possibly even 20.

Good morning chums, Just started another bag for the charity shop, three pairs of jeans (too big for me now) 6 paper backs and some scarves.
Slowly finding odds and ends and ornaments to go into the CS bag I'm doing one drawer at a time as I have two chests of drawers with 7 drawers in each and lots of odds and ends were put in them before the move.
I also have some photo frames that can go as well. DD decluttered some single sheets now we have only double beds in the house she had given the beds to someone locally before she moved and realised there were some still packed so they too have been donated
Fingers crossed DGD Katie and family take off at 12.45 lunchtime today from Heathrow, they have been routed through Atlanta where they have an hour and a half between flights so they will be tired by the time they get to Orlando but at least they are getting there.
DGS Henry is off to Romania for a long weekend next Saturday, but his brother Ben will be making his way down to the Island for 2 weeks as its half term at his school so he will be here next Saturday afternoon
Right time for another cuppa , the Covid/Flu jabs were ok yesterday but feel a bit sore today but it won't last long fingers crossed
Cheers chums
