MrsSD have you noticed how quiet it goes when the sparrow hawk is about? We have one that comes into our garden too usually quite successfully. We are too slow at grabbing a photo - well done.

Despite that I had a joyous day 😊 First a Sparrow hawk visited the garden twice - standing on the hedge with 2 magpies eyeing it up & 3 squirrels chasing each other round the garden - quite the menagerie
Dinner was fried chicken, boiled potatoes, carrots & green beans.
I read the line about the fried chicken and then had to make sense of the pictures thinking "that ain't no chicken!" Very pleased that you hadn't actually had some KFSparrowHawk.

Some more bits and pieces leaving the house as I am slowly catching up on tidying. I think I did about 8 loads of washing over the weekend and it is all nicely away. Looking forward to not doing washing for a while!Probably the odd bit of clothing to go, but I'm just left with a few items I am currently considering. I should check out the shoe situation and do something similar, then get back to the library re-organisation. Eventually I'll get back to the photo sorting!Digital:

One bag of stuff collected by DD2.Other bags remain in the car boot as charity bins were surrounded by piles and piles of bags now soaked in the rain. Must be so frustrating for the collectors.10

What a shame about the charity bags, they will all be thrown away.
Great photos Mrs SD.
Sewing marathon complete, everything away. Plenty of fabric stash used up. Just half a carrier bag left and a bag of knitting stuff now stored under the stairs. I think having to get rid of boxes and boxes of my Mum's fabric has cured me of keeping a fabric stash.
Mr V put his suitcase away and I told him to grab the nearest thing of DD1's and bring it out of the loft. He brought 2 boxes down. One is actually mine. I had completely forgotten about it. Toys I had saved from when I worked at school. Do I save them a little longer. I have a Grandson now , he might like them to play with when he comes to visit. I will go through the box tomorrow. They are not going back in the loft whatever, No body can play with them in the loft!
DD1 will be getting regular visits with deliveries of her stuff. This week will be a box of toys and a display cabinet that was my Mum's. She is going to add lights and have house plants in it. Oh, and a dolls house currently in the shed.
The cabinet is in my shed along with the opticians cabinet and another mid century cabinet I was given. The plan is to be cabinet free and possibly over winter my patio table and chairs in there instead. Just need a few dry hours for the old switcheroo. I promise to refuse free furniture from now on. I WILL get rid of stuff and not replace it.

Hi chums my next door neighbour has a large artificial bird brightly coloured looks like a parrot on his shed roof thats attached to his house at the back he says and I agree it keeps the seagulls away and the resulting...mess they leave on the washing cars etc
The builders came this morning and did the outside brickwork up to the level where the new window will go in, then they put a large wooden sheet over the window aperture I'm hoping that tomorrow or Wednesday the window will go in, then the stud wall that separates the front garage from the back garage will bereaved and they can get started on the inside stuff. My son-in-law has virtually emptied everything from the back garage and spread it around the house so the other rooms and the large conservatory are full of boxes and bits that will be rehoused when the kitchen redesign and my new sitting room and shower room/loo is finished
I'm so looking forward to getting straight .but the builders are good chaps and do get stuck in, didn't even stop for a cuppa this morning
I think they wanted the brickwork done asap as its due to be a bit rainy and stormy tomorrow.means they can be working inside even if its rainy. All the new pipework has been laid in the hall across to where the new loo etc is going to be ,and the dogs can't make out the trench with wood over it where the hall has been dug up
I know it will be nice once its done but its weird living on a building siteLuckily I can escape up to my bedroom which is a good size and even thats full of boxes
another tip run this weekend I think.
I'm going into Ryde tomorrow and will have lunch with DD which will be nice and a mooch around the shops if I can.
I have a couple of small bags of bits to drop off at the charity shop there, so several paperbacks and some small ornaments that I really don't need to keep.Might take a few picture frames as well if they aren't too heavy I'll get the bus in as its just at the end of the road and they are very regular every half an hour on the dot
My granddaughter Katie and family are off to Florida on Wednesday and are due to land the same time as Hurricane Milton, but I assured her Virgin won't take off unless its safe to do so
I have a feeling they will still be at Heathrow as there will definitely be a delay, but I was chatting to her today via text and she's going to make sure the two little girls have books and things to keep them amused while they wait to take off.
Right time for a cuppa I think
take care all

Just had an update from Katie, Virgin have rebooked her for Friday as they say it's cancelling its flight on Wednesday for safety reasons. They said just as well be at home as if they had got there they would have been in lockdown
Bless them the little ones are so excited as well:(:(

evening all
10 days off work as from the saturday just gone, so this is day 3. couldnt have come at a better time and the job hunting has resumed full force. i do love my job...but the higher ups are so full of hot air and carp that I think I would do much better somewhere else now.
have done a bit of sorting out last few days - mostly rotating out my wardrobe. Have put several lightweight bits into storage and pulled out 2 x coats and several heavier jumpers for the bad weather that will hit us in the coming months. best to be prepared in advance.
during the sort out 1 x jumper and 1 x jacket went into the cs bag. DMum has also put several things into the cs bag as well so its quite full, couple of tops and some other bits and pieces.
recycling out, large zippered plastic holder thing binned (was using it to store some linen). the experiment with using up stores from the freezer was successful so big Mr T shop this week to replenish!11 -
It’s full steam ahead as I will be getting a new kitchen, I had the designer out today and the kitchen really does need a good sort out, so thought no time like the present and started

330) t-bag display from around the world and looking worse for wear- binned
331) t-bag display holder-recycling
332) an extremely old part pack of lentils-food recycling. I’m washing the storage jar out ready for the CS
333) broken Christmas decoration-recycling
334) last dregs on the gin bottle down the sink- bottle recycled
335)OOD cocktail flavourings-sink and recycling
336) old pair of boxing gloves, stitching coming apart and then finished off by the cats-binned

338) gift box that had already been repurposed by friend to use for me-recycling as had collapsed
339) paperwork shredded and binned
