I finished the last of the hm soup for lunch. It stayed dry until 20:30 when we had a short shower. DH filled the bird feeders. I spent the afternoon knitting & watching TV. Now into series 9 of TWD & the new ‘baddies’ are almost here 😉 Dinner was slow roast lamb shoulder with mash & green beans. DSis & I watched SCD results & were disappointed at who was sent home 😞
1691 - 1692 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
1693 - 1695 Kitchen, lr & office detritus - binned
Quick shout out to Liverpool_Anne - I hope you had a lovely birthday 🎂🥳
You are very welcome 2Scratters & I am pleased that your DH is ‘a happy bunny’ 😊 Great work on your wardrobe 👏 I really do need to tackle mine 😞 Remember all the little bits out soon add up & once your new kitchen is installed I think it will be a lot easier to make the progress you would like in your decluttering 😊 As to the small set of drawers perhaps they can be upcycled to fit into your bedroom 🤔 Hope you had a lovely weekend 🙂
London_1, great news that you ‘just’ have a cold 😮💨 Sounds like your DD is enjoying slotting into island life & having non-working weekends is definitely a boon 😄Also sounds like your son-in-law has hired some good builders - they seem to be cracking on with the work 🤩 I see that you are still doing a good amount of decluttering 👏 What a great community service provided by the sm re the books 👏 Please stay safe in the wet & windy weather 🙏
GrannyKate, you might have had a slow start to tackling your To Do list but not only were you up early for the airport run but your morning was further disrupted by having to attend to the window fitters - so please cut yourself a break 🙏 Sorry to hear about your experience in Bucharest 😔 but thank you for the reminder to be careful when out & about 👏
florianatwobob, the wisdom of buying a house on a hill 😉 Fingers crossed that you can sort out the damp spot in the kitchen quickly & cost effectively🤞
Thank you for sharing that weenancy - you have led such an interesting life 😊 Of all the people you mentioned I would have loved to have met Jimmy Stewart & John Wayne 😉
vulpix, hope you are having a calm & pleasant ferry crossing 🤞Such lovely memories of the Shetland Islands & thank you for the gorgeous photo 👏
daisy_1571, what a romantic thing to do 🥰 💓

WeenancyinAmerica i agree with Mrs sd. Amazing life.
Katherine Hepburn says in at least one of her books she loved getting a cuddle from John Wayne as he was such a lovely big man with a huge chest. He always looks like that to me 🤗 I'd love to have met Jimmy Stewart too. Actually I'd love to have met a lot of the classic Hollywood stars. I'm so glad I went to Disney MGM studios in florida when they still were paying homage to the old stars. Now its very much more modern park even though the buildings are art deco in style. We have photos with lookeylikeys Lucy and Desi Arnez, 3 of the marks brothers, laurel and Hardy etc. They don't do anything like that now. They were all in character talking smart to each other and the public. I remember coming across the marx brothers and Chico (always my favourite) saying to mr d "you taka da pich, we taka da goirl" (sorry hard to work out how to spell his accent but you get the idea) and it was just like meeting them for real, just a few seconds of nonsense but I still remember it 😆 🤣 ill maybe put a picture on

Beg pardon, just looked at my photos (ive got them all out and spread about as I've been trying to do a physical and digital photo detox) and it was universal not Disney mgm. Amazing how the mind plays tricks, woulda sworn it was Disney. Florianatwotbob that's amazing. I doubt I have anyone famous or infamous 😆 I met them though !! They were funny, mucking about with my sunhat. Happy memories, unbelievably 30 years ago, how is that possible 😆

A damp start to the week - it was raining when I went to bed & as it is still damp it has rained again. Expected high of 17°C. I was up at 11:15 & have my first cuppa.
daisy_1571, that sounds absolutely amazing 😻 I think they would be hard pressed now to do anything similar - would probably cost too much as I don’t think the old system of having ‘studio actors’ still exists 😉 It would probably also be wasted on me as I struggle to identify most actors/actresses nowadays especially the younger ones i.e those under 50 🤣 Which reminds me R.I.P. Maggie Smith 😢 This prompted me to investigate who else we have lost this year & I discovered that James Darren my favourite eye candy (The Time Tunnel & The Guns of Navarone) also passed away this year, as well as James B. Sikking (anyone remember Hill Street Blues?) That’s enough……… otherwise I will be reminiscing all day 😅 By the way thanks for the photos 👏
Hope everyone is having a drier day than we are 😉

Just a quick post - dreadful weather here. I have completed loads (8) frogs big and small so pleased with myself. A couple more to do later but I have to go out. I think I have managed to shed worst of cold just sniffly now.
florianatwobob - I managed to spend the day at St Albans. I have passed through a few times but never easy to park. I think the last time I went to the cathedral was in the 1950s with grandma. We stayed with her relatives in Harpenden (my mother was born at Batford) most years. I remember getting shouted at for paddling in the pond on Harpenden Common. Saturday I parked at Christopher Place which was convenient but awful to park in. I saw the cafe and bought book at shop (oops) but had snack in place up near St Peters Church and War Memorial. I toured the museum as well. Driving through Batford it seemed much more developed than the last time I was there including a large modern school. I remember my grandmother saying that in 1918 flu epidemic somebody died in every house in a row of worker's cottages near them. I drove across to A1 to head home and saw the flooded fields near Biggleswade.

Hi all, had a busy couple of days and I am now having a rest this morning
. Friday was a bit of a whirlwind of getting ready for the wedding : post sorted, 2 LDFPA, ironing, cleaning shoes, hunting out blister plasters
, hand sewing OH"s trouser hem using thread taken from the old hem. It took ages as I really struggled to thread the needle, very fine thread and small eye
. While sorting through stuff some hard plastic boxes were discovered and put into the hard plastic bag.
Saturday we were up at the crack of sparrow legs as we had to be at the registry office by 9.30 but wanted to make sure we could get parked so were there by 9.10. The ceremony was lovely and the bride looked beautiful and the groom very handsome. The father of the bride cried the most. We spent quite a while having photos taken. By then it was chucking it down but luckily there is a covered area with a backdrop of trees in the park so that was nice. When that was done we went for a coffee before heading off to the parent's of the bride's house to give them time to get the buffet and booze out
. By this time OH was suffering quite badly with blisters despite having applied several plasters before we went out. We were laughing because we neither of us have worn anything except sketchers for about 2 years
. I took a change of shoes with me
. When we got into the house OH just took them off which was fine as the bride and her sister had put their slippers on
. I spent a lot of time in the garden under the gazebo chatting with other guests, some I have only met briefly before including the grooms half brothers. Despite the complicated family history and the fact that their dad is not very nice they were lovely lads. The dad was not invited to the wedding. The whole day was just lovely and we got home about 5.30 although I think some of the younger guests probably stayed a lot longer
. I got home in time for the football on tv, OH decided the shoes would never be used again and were put in the bin, that should save me some money on plasters
and promptly fell asleep on the couch
.
On Sunday after opening my presents, got some lovely gifts, wrapping paper into recycling, headed out to the local national trust property for their apple day. OH had headed out to work. It was very busy and I had to queue for the car park but only about 15 mins as they decided to open the coach parking space for cars just as I got there. The weather was lovely, blue skies and gentle breeze. There were children everywhere running around having fun, picking apples from the trees and eating them
. The kitchen garden was great with lots still with crops to pick and a greenhouse full of tomatoes. There were signs saying please don't pick here as the produce is used in the cafe. I tasted the pressed apple juice and took 1 apple to taste. There was lots of info about growing apple trees and a little booklet of recipes to use apples
. If you had a bag you could take as many apples as you wanted
. I also had a lovely walk around the grounds and attached wood. I discovered they have a second hand bookshop
and had a good browse but only got a couple of craft books and a book for my nephew written by Pierluigi Collina, the best football ref I have ever seen. I queued up for a coffee in the cafe and had a home made apple and blackberry oat bar as I wasn't sure I"d get a seat anywhere. Quick chat to the cafe manager while I was in the queue who was on her way back to the kitchen after a visit to the loo, she said they hadn't stopped since they had opened at 10, nobody had had a break and some people had complained about how long they had had to wait
. If you have to queue to get in the car park surely you should realise you will have to queue in the cafe
. Anyhow I did find a seat outside where I was joined by a lady from Chichester who was taking a break from walking while her DH, ds and dil were walking somewhere. We had a very nice chat about crafts prompted by the books I had on the table and then chatted about decluttering as I said now I knew the bookshop was there I could bring them some as sometimes the cs doesn't want them. She told me they were using dinning chairs she had got from her gran that were really uncomfortable but she couldn't get rid of them
. When her family arrived I went off for another walk around the grounds that I hadn't already done. Home about 4.30 after a really interesting and lovely day in the nice weather. Kitchen bin and lr bin emptied and 2 LDFPA, we had takeaway from my fav greek restaurant for tea
@Vulpix another lovely photo, hope the journey home is easy
@Mrs SD nice bookmarks
@weenancyinamerica such an interesting life
Sorry I have read all the posts but my brain is tired so hugs to anybody who would like one
Today it is monsoon weather here and I have had to put the washing on the maiden and there is another pile in the holding area but they will have to wait, the forecast is better for tomorrow. I have ironing that needs doing, the ironing board is looking ill, somehow the legs have got twisted and it has a lean. I will try to rectify this first. Other than that I have to book my course for the speeding thing and pay for that after checking the bank balance
, and check my emails. We were supposed to be going to Chester zoo with the baby but it really isn't the weather for it so OH has driven to Morecambe to take the baby swimming and probably won't be home until late so I am enjoying being alone in the house
Sorry for such a long rambling post

What a wild and windy night!
Hope everyone is ok!
I have finished my foot clinic today and I have tackled a small but annoying job, the envelope stuffed full of receipts! There now about 6 recent ones in there and the rest are in the wood burner, which I might light shortly to brighten up the day. My current aim is to just pick one small tidying / decluttering job to do each day.
Tomorrow might be my handbag 😳 it is definetly overdue! Plus I do need a new handbag. I've been looking on vinted, but not found one I like - yet!

Hi Chums,
Oh dear James Darren was soo good looking as well I didn't know he had died. Well I got a fair bit done this morning dropped off two library book due back.
I then went to Westridge big Tescos and dropped off the decluttered books there. There were a couple of people looking at the ones available and as I dropped mine off I said these are all well worth reading especially the TM Logan one.
I'm pleased that having recommended them they were all picked up and donations put into the bucket
Got a few odds and ends and was pleased to see that the Kenco coffee in the tin was half priced this week to £3.00 from £6.00 its my son-in-laws favourite so I snaffled him a tin
Came home and the young chap finishing the pipework said he's there today and tomorrow at least, then hopefully all the main plumbing work is done.
Its definitely autumnal weather though as I had to dig out a coat to wear when I went out, as its a bit windy here and although dry there's still the odd spots of rain around.
Indoors now until Wednesday morning when I have my cardiac clinic review, fingers crossed the nurse will be happy.
With all the moving etc I had completely forgotten about it ,but my new Doctors are very quick on the uptake and obviously going through my records from the Medway spotted I'd not been for it.I must say the new Doctors are very efficient here which is good they even text you to remind you if your medication is getting low !
Right definitely time for a cuppa now.I did a bit of sorting out of some clothes that are too big for me so they will go to the Charity shop when I go into Ryde on Wednesday I dug a pair of jeans out to wear today as it was a bit nippy and they drowned me so I think a trip into newport soon is on the cards as there is a M&S there where I can get some clothes a bit smaller.Last winter because I spent so much time in hospital I didn't really think about how much weight I had lost I'm not complaining though and the Cardiac nurse will be pleased at least:) Being ill is not a good way to lose weight though, but my appetite is just so much smaller now than used to be.
Onwards and upwards chums

Goodness, the further South we have come, the worse the weather. Biblical rain.Only unloading tomorrow then much less activity is on the cards, for me at least.Vx:13
